Chapter 469 The Reddish Conch Shell! The Swordsman with Two Swords
The morning sunlight streamed in through the round porthole and fell on the floor of Nami's room.
The clothes I carelessly tossed aside last night are still scattered on the sofa and chair backs.
The air still carried a faint scent of moisture from a shower, along with an ambiguous, indescribable warmth.
The Sunny rose and fell gently on the waves.
Victor was the first to wake up.
He leaned against the bedside, a thin blanket casually covering him.
Nami was fast asleep, her long hair spread out on the pillow.
Robin was breathing steadily, her face pressed against his shoulder.
A long-awaited quiet.
Just as Victor was about to carefully pull his hand out, Nami opened her eyes and glared at him sleepily.
"Don't move around."
Viktor stopped what he was doing and said with a smile:
"Miss Navigator, I just want to get out of bed."
Nami snorted, her voice still carrying the languor of someone who had just woken up.
"Why weren't you this well-behaved last night?"
Robin woke up too.
She propped herself up, her hair falling over her shoulders, a gentle smile in her eyes.
"Nami, you were the one who wasn't behaving properly last night."
Nami's cheeks flushed instantly, and she grabbed a pillow and threw it at Viktor.
"I just wanted to teach this womanizer a lesson!"
Viktor caught the pillow and wisely refrained from arguing.
The atmosphere in the room was relaxed and intimate.
All there was was the ocean waves, the sunshine, and the early morning when the three of them could finally stay in bed a little longer.
Nami threw off the covers and got out of bed, starting to tidy up her scattered clothes.
She moved quickly, and after a quick tidying up, she took out a few clean clothes from the wardrobe and tossed them to Victor and Robin respectively.
"Hurry up and change into it."
"If we don't go to the restaurant soon, that idiot Luffy will eat all of breakfast."
Robin sat up, slowly tidied her long hair, and then picked up her clothes and put them on.
Victor quickly changed his clothes, and Robin straightened his collar and smoothed out the wrinkles.
Viktor looked down at her movements and was about to take her hand.
Robin, however, seemed to have anticipated this, and dodged ahead of time, smiling as she gave a reminder:
"It's time for breakfast."
Nami walked to the door and glanced back at him.
"Let's go to the restaurant first."
Viktor shrugged.
Nami and Robin left the room together.
After the door closed, the room became quiet again.
Victor sat on the edge of the bed and let out a soft breath.
The silence after a major battle sometimes feels unreal.
Just as he was about to get up, a conch shell on the table suddenly glowed with a faint red light.
Viktor paused.
That's Shirahoshi's communication conch.
Since entering Wano Country, this conch shell has barely reacted.
First, the country's borders were high, and the inland sea was too isolated from the external ocean currents. Later, the Battle of Ghost Island broke out, and he was far away from the open sea for a long time.
Even after leaving Wano Country, the conch shell turned red again.
Viktor then realized that Fishman Island hadn't stopped trying to contact him; rather, they simply couldn't get through reliably.
He picked up the conch shell.
The next moment, Bai Xing's aggrieved voice came from the other end.
"Lord Victor?"
"This time...can you finally hear me?"
Victor slowed his voice.
"Shirahoshi, it's me."
The other end of the conch shell was quiet for a moment.
Then, as if finally confirming his safety, Bai Xing's voice immediately became tearful.
"Lord Victor!"
She said she tries to contact him every day.
No matter how they called out, the conch shell did not respond.
During that time, she even wanted to leave Fishman Island to find him herself, but was stopped by King Neptune and her brothers.
"I worry about it every day."
Bai Xing's voice grew softer and softer.
"Later, when the news reached Fishman Island, I saw that Kaido had been defeated, and I also saw that Lord Victor was portrayed by the World Government as a very dangerous person."
"But the news didn't mention whether Lord Viktor was injured, nor did it say how Lord Luffy and the others were doing."
She wasn't blaming Viktor; she was just too worried.
A moment later, Bai Xing spoke for the first time in a very serious yet aggrieved tone:
"I'm angry."
"I'm ignoring Lord Victor."
Viktor was silent for a moment.
Bai Xing added in a low voice:
"Unless... unless Lord Victor comes to Fishman Island to see me now."
After saying that, she seemed a little embarrassed, but stubbornly refused to take it back.
Viktor could only patiently explain that Wano Country's unique terrain meant that communication with the conch shell was hindered by ocean currents and the country's borders, and that it wasn't that he intentionally refused to answer.
After listening, Bai Xing's voice softened slightly.
But she still insisted:
"But I'm still very sad."
"I can't do anything on Fishman Island."
"no."
Viktor said seriously:
"The sea kings you summoned have already helped us a lot."
"Shirahoshi, it's not that you can't do anything."
"You're just not ready to leave Fishman Island yet."
The other end of the conch shell remained quiet for a moment.
Bai Xing seemed comforted by those words, but then cautiously asked:
"So...can we contact each other normally from now on?"
"every day."
Viktor agreed quickly.
"As long as the conch shells can connect, I will talk to you every day."
Bai Xing then quickly asked about the others.
Is Nami safe and sound? Is Robin injured? Is Luffy still eating lots of meat?
Viktor told her everything.
Everyone is safe and sound.
Hearing this, Shirahoshi finally felt a little relieved.
But she still added in a low voice at the end:
"Then I will still ignore Lord Victor a little bit today."
Victor couldn't help but laugh.
"Okay, just a little bit then."
Bai Xing earnestly reminded him again:
"Contact me again tomorrow."
"And the day after tomorrow."
"And every day after that."
"I've got it."
Viktor agreed.
Then, as if struck by a sudden thought, he asked:
"Shirahoshi, there's one more thing I'd like to ask you for help with."
The voice from the other end of the conch shell immediately perked up.
"Lord Victor, please speak!"
"We are heading to the Tottoland Sea, which is near the Kingdom of Nations."
Victor said:
"A lot has happened there recently."
"If possible, could you ask a Sea King to scout out the situation in that area from a distance?"
"We don't need to get too close; we just need to confirm the general changes in the surrounding fleets, islands, and ocean currents."
"good!"
Bai Xing's voice became noticeably excited.
Because she finally felt she could be of use.
"I'll ask them to go and take a look!"
Victor smiled.
"Then I'll have to trouble you."
"Yes, see you tomorrow, Lord Victor."
"See you tomorrow."
The red glow of the conch shell gradually dimmed.
The room became quiet again.
Viktor sat on the edge of the bed and rubbed his temples.
He thought of Nami, Robin, and Hiyori, and then of Shirahoshi, who had almost cried from feeling wronged just now, and silently complained to himself.
"Four now."
"That's more than enough."
"Any more and I'll really die."
Victor straightened his clothes and prepared to leave the room for the restaurant.
Noises from the deck could be heard from afar in the corridor.
Usopp was probably researching the Gas-Gas Fruit's new abilities again, as Chopper's panicked cries and Franky's shouts of "Super funny" could be heard from time to time.
Not long after Victor stepped out of the room, he saw Zoro at the entrance to the corridor leading to the deck.
Zoro had a bunch of forging equipment on his shoulder, a sword hanging at his waist, and his body still wrapped in bandages, but he looked calm and collected, as if he was about to secretly train while Chopper wasn't looking.
Viktor stopped and said with a smile:
"If you do that, Chopper will get angry."
Zoro snorted.
"Too verbose."
"Just a short activity."
Viktor glanced at the pile of equipment on his shoulder that didn't look like it was for "moving around" at all, but didn't expose him.
Zoro prepared to walk past him.
Viktor suddenly noticed something was wrong.
Zoro only had two swords hanging from his waist.
The third cutting slot is empty.
Victor raised an eyebrow slightly.
"What about the other knife?"
Zoro paused for a moment.
He glanced down at the empty space at his waist, his tone indifferent.
"The snow has gone badly."
Victor did not speak immediately.
Zoro continued:
"When I fought Jhin, I endured too many high-intensity collisions."
"That guy's flames, his domineering aura, and the recoil from the Lunaria's body caused cracks to appear on the blade."
"In the final few head-on clashes, the edge had already crumbled."
"It can no longer be used as a primary weapon."
He said it very casually.
It's like talking about a normal wear and tear.
But Victor noticed that the fingers gripping the forging tool tightened slightly for a moment.
Yuki accompanied Zoro through many battles.
For a swordsman, a broken sword is never as simple as just being "broken".
Victor asked:
"Completely unusable?"
Zoro nodded.
"Even if you manage to pick it up, you can still chop it."
"But the enemies we encounter next are not the kind we can barely handle."
That's a very calm statement.
This also shows that Zoro has accepted reality.
Next, they will go to Whole Cake Island, and there they will most likely face the Blackbeard Pirates.
Continuing to use the shattered Snow Walk technique in a battle of that level is not persistence, but foolishness.
Zoro won't risk the lives of everyone on the ship.
Accepting reality doesn't mean he's not sad.
Viktor leaned against the wall, looking at the empty knife slot at Zoro's waist.
He knew, of course, that there was a knife that could fill that spot.
Moreover, it was originally a gift from him to himself, so it can be considered a return to its rightful owner.
Zoro, seeing Viktor staring intently at his sword, said impatiently:
"What are you looking at?"
Victor said with a smile:
"Watch a three-sword style swordsman transform into a two-sword style swordsman."
Zoro's eye twitched.
"Do you want to fight?"
He picked up his tools and prepared to leave.
Victor, however, spoke slowly from behind him:
"However, there are ways to solve this."
Zoro stopped in his tracks.
There was no turning back.
Victor continued:
"I happen to have a knife here that would be perfect for you."
Zoro knew exactly what he was talking about.
The corridor fell silent for a brief moment.
Viktor watched Zoro's retreating figure, his smile deepening.
"Please beg me."
"I'll help you solve it."
Zoro slowly turned his head.
The veins on his forehead bulged out almost instantly.
"You bastard..."
