Game of Thrones: Dance of the Dragons
Chapter 5 The King's Guilt
"Baelor? Weren't you in Oldtown? What brings you to King's Landing all of a sudden?!" Viserys was both surprised and delighted.
He stood up almost immediately and strode toward his long-absent eldest son and heir, Baelor Targaryen.
"Your Highness."
The other ministers stood up and paid their respects to the king's eldest son.
Even if Baelor is away from King's Landing for a long time and his health is weak, as long as he is alive, he is the king's eldest son and the first in line to the Iron Throne.
The prince smiled and scanned each minister present from right to left. Finally, his gaze settled on the king's former prime minister, Otto Hightower.
"Lord Otto, I haven't yet thanked your family for taking care of me in Old Town. Their meticulous care has left a deep impression on me."
"If I have the chance, I will definitely thank you properly," Baylor said with a smile, reciting the lines he had prepared long ago.
Apart from the king, who was experiencing significant emotional fluctuations, all the ministers present at the meeting keenly sensed the hidden meaning in the prince's words.
They couldn't help but glance at Otto. It was as if they were wondering if he had the guts, or perhaps they were contemplating whether he really was that bold.

Renilla recited the lines she had rehearsed with Prince Beller, "Father, letters from the Archbishop and several Grand Secretaries say that Prince Beller's health is improving in the best possible way."
"But the only problem is that the prince is not a pet confined in a cage; he needs to see a wider sky and soar through the heavens like a dragon."
"I thought the Royal Hunt in five days would be a good opportunity, so I rode a dragon to Old Town to bring my brother back."
Viserys exclaimed "Oh!" with a sudden realization, and said apologetically, "I'm so sorry, my daughter, I misunderstood your kindness."
He then half-squatted down and looked at his eldest son, whom he hadn't seen for six years, with a serious and tender gaze. Looking closely at his appearance, he really resembled his mother.
"You've lost weight, my child."
"Please forgive me for not being able to see you for six years, nor for not being able to go to the old town to meet you."
"It's because I'm worried that my arrival will affect your atonement to the Seven Gods, and thereby affect your physical health."
Baylor smiled and shook his head. "How could that be, Father? Being able to come see you with my sister is the greatest happiness for me."
"Please don't blame me, Father, for leaving the old town without your permission."
Baylor had been outwitting Mond Heitel for years. He knew perfectly well what words and expressions he should make to make his father feel guilty.
Even if Otto later exposes Renilla's lies, his father will never blame him for it.
As expected, upon hearing Baylor's understanding words, Viserys' face immediately showed a look of guilt, and he gently placed his hands on Baylor's shoulders.
"My child, you were meant to be a dragon soaring through the sky."
"As your father, I agree to your request. But on the condition that you stay by my side and never do anything dangerous. Can you do that?"
"Of course!" Baylor nodded excitedly.
Viserys kissed Baelor's forehead with delight. Then, looking at Rhaenyra, he said, "My daughter, you take care of your brother."
Renilla nodded seriously, then turned and left the council hall with Baylor.
The Red Castle is spacious and bustling, with many rooms on the top floor.
The prince's arrival was somewhat sudden, and the servants would need some time to prepare a suitable room for him.
To ensure her brother's safety, Renilla placed him in her room without hesitation.
"You can rest here for now. I'll arrange for you to go over after the room is cleaned."
Beller nodded wearily, waved symbolically to Renilla, and then fell into a deep sleep on the now soft and comfortable bed.
Renilla smiled helplessly, kissed her brother's cheek, and left the room.
The sleeping Prince once again entered the illusion.
Unlike last time, the dream was peaceful, and he stood atop the Red Keep, gazing at the view of King's Landing in the distance.
"That's truly rare..." Baylor couldn't help but exclaim.
There was no black dragon, no war, no storms; everything was so peaceful.
If I keep having dreams like this, I believe my dark circles will disappear soon, and I'll become a prince who at least looks normal.
Clearly, some things can only exist in fantasy, just as Baylor closed his eyes to enjoy the quiet...
"roar--"
A familiar voice reached his ears, and the Glutton, its body as large as half a castle, flew slowly over Baylor, even staring at him defiantly with its emerald green eyes.
"Damn, I knew my dreams wouldn't be very peaceful."
Not wanting to see the gluttons, Baylor simply shifted his position to look at the other side of King's Landing.
The glutton was somewhat angry and immediately turned its massive body around, moving into Baylor's line of sight.
Immediately afterwards, it rapidly closed in, and in the instant when the two were close enough, it spewed out green dragon flames.
Beller remained calm, letting the green dragon flames completely engulf him and adhere to every part of his body.
"Aren't you bored?" Baylor said, shaking his arm in exasperation.
They had been together in their dreams for four years. They seemed to share an unspoken understanding with each other.
Baylor knew how terrifying the Glutton was; the burning of the dragon flames was like countless needles, making him suffer day and night, but it never harmed his life.
The same is true of the glutton. It is like a giant dragon with human intelligence, testing Baylor's courage and boldness time and time again with its ferocious and terrifying appearance and scorching and unbearable dragon flames.
This time, seeing that Beller didn't care at all, the Glutton didn't continue to spew dragonfire. Instead, it flew steadily to his side and spat out a white deer from its mouth.
Baylor recognized the deer; he had seen it described in the history books of the old city. It was the king of the jungle—the white deer, which only appeared before those with the qualities of a king.
"Why did you give this to me?" Baylor asked the Glutton in confusion.
But it was no longer beside him; instead, it had taken the lead and flown towards the distant Imperial Forest.
Then, Baylor woke up in bed.
By this time, it was almost night outside, and one could clearly hear servants bustling about outside the window, seemingly preparing some kind of family feast.
"Beile, wake up! Your father has prepared a special family feast to celebrate your return!"
Renilla opened the door and entered with a group of maids responsible for grooming and dressing.
"No need for that, sister. Just find me any black clothes." Baylor rubbed his eyes, clearly still looking like he hadn't slept well.
"What kind of hellish joke are you telling? Tonight is a family dinner; Allison and her three children will be there!"
"You are my brother, the king's eldest son, and the sole heir to the Iron Throne. You must crush that bitch Alison in every way!" Renilla meticulously dressed Baylor, her anger practically written all over her face.
He had heard some stories from Maester Orville about the feud between Renilla and Allison; it was nothing more than that former best friends had suddenly become a daughter and a stepmother.
"My sister, we share the same blood and fire, and we have nothing to fear from anyone." At such a young age, Baylor uttered the most reassuring words.
"My little brother, there are some things we should talk about when you're older." Renilla gently pinched his cheek, her expression not mocking, but rather filled with expectation.
Soon after, Beller, dressed, entered the hall with his sister Renella.
