I opened a clinic in the Abyss World

Chapter 83 Optimized Potion

"I... I quit on my own. I reduced my potion dosage and gradually quit," Ivan said in a low voice, his eyes darting around.

"Dora, your father needs to rest more. Let the maid take you to play in the garden. There are swings there. I will take good care of him," Roland said to Dora with a smile.

"Swing!" Dora's eyes lit up. She kissed Ivan on the cheek and instructed, "Father, you must be a good boy and listen to Brother Roland."

After Dora left, only the two of them remained in the room. Roland then looked at Ivan and said, "You're lying. If potions were so easy to quit, they wouldn't be called the devil's invitation."

Ivan lowered his head in silence, his hands unconsciously gripping the bedsheets.

"Don't worry, I mean you no harm. You know I'm a doctor, and I've seen many patients suffer to death from potions. You should understand their pain even better than I do." Roland looked at Ivan sincerely. "If there really is a way to quit potions, that would be wonderful. It would be a blessing for all potion addicts."

Ivan looked up at Roland, his expression so sincere, his gaze so pure.

He glanced at his package subconsciously, then quickly looked away.

No!

He had promised Dr. Charlotte that he must never mention him to anyone.

"Are they those two bottles of mysterious potions?" Roland keenly noticed Ivan's subtle movements.

"I'm sorry, Lord Roland, I can't help you. I really did quit on my own," Ivan said as calmly as possible.

Roland saved him, but Charlotte also gave him a new life.

He must not betray Charlotte and put him in danger.

"Okay, I apologize for my intrusion. You should get some rest. I'll have someone look after Dora." Roland nodded slightly and turned to leave.

"Go to Lane 8 of Tova Street and check on Ivan. He should own a tailor shop. Find out which clinic he's visited recently." After leaving the courtyard, Roland instructed the guard beside him, "Check the small clinics as well, especially those skilled in using medicine. Investigate them thoroughly."

The guard obeyed and left.

Roland paced alone in the garden, his brow slightly furrowed.

Ivan was unwilling to reveal the details, but it was likely due to the advice of the person who treated him.

If you think about the pros and cons carefully, it's not hard to understand.

The discovery of a way to cure the potion would be enough to shock the entire world.

However, this will seriously harm the interests of some people, and the Judson family will never allow such a thing to happen in the Abyss.

This is a fundamental problem.

It's not hard to understand why that person asked Ivan to keep it a secret in order to protect himself.

As a doctor, Roland couldn't suppress his curiosity.

If a method to break the curse of magic potions truly exists, why not promote it more widely?

There are too many people in this world who suffer from the torment of the magic potion. Countless cases of families being destroyed, wives being sold, and people being tortured to the point of being unrecognizable before dying.

That man was afraid of Carol, but he wasn't, nor was the Durru family.

He had long disliked the Judson family, those potion-wielding executioners, and if given the chance, he would be the first to step forward and trample them, condemning them to eternal damnation.

He had read the clan's history; the Abyss was not like it is now. A thousand years ago, in order to escape attacks from monsters, more and more refugees who could not enter large cities entered the Abyss.

This place is a haven for wanderers, a gathering place for various races, and has grown and expanded over the centuries.

Although several powerful families rose to prominence during this period, the people of the Abyss were still able to live and work in peace and contentment.

Until three hundred years ago, when the Judson family's apothecary created a magical potion, the Abyss began to gradually change its nature.

The potion drives people mad and irritable, causing violence to permeate every corner of the abyss.

The exorbitant prices and terrifying addictive nature lead addicts to commit murder and robbery after going bankrupt, plunging the abyss into increasing chaos and disorder.

The root of everything is the magic potion.

Without potions and the Judson family, the Abyss would certainly be a better place.

"Potion...potion...Charlotte..." Roland suddenly stopped, remembering Dora's earlier words, and his eyes lit up.

"Get the car ready, let's go to Bacca Street."

……

The mice reacted differently after taking the medication.

The mice that took the initial version vomited terribly, but their addiction was indeed suppressed. They lay in their cages, barely clinging to life.

The reduced-dose versions vary; some doses are completely ineffective and instead accelerate the onset of drug addiction.

boom!

One of the white mice exploded, splattering blood and various brown liquids all over the cage, accompanied by a stench.

Fortunately, Charlotte was agile enough to avoid the splashing liquid.

"Holy crap, that's scary!" Charlotte quickly crossed out the prescription.

If this were used to experiment on people, they would probably be traumatized.

After testing, the dose containing fewer giant red earthworms also achieved the effect of eliminating drug addiction, and the side effects were significantly milder than the initial version. The mice only gagged a few times before returning to normal.

Charlotte labeled this version of the potion as pending.

After clearing out those disgusting cages, there are now only six cages left. Two mice are used to test each drug, and the last group is given water.

Clearly, drinking water did not solve the problem; the two mice were still experiencing drug withdrawal symptoms.

Next, let's test the resistance to potions.

Charlotte took out the bottle of potion she hadn't finished using last night. As soon as she uncorked it, the two white mice, who were in the throes of drug withdrawal, immediately went berserk, banging against the cage and charging toward her with their scarlet eyes bulging as if they were about to burst out at any moment.

A longing, a frantic longing.

This is what drug addiction looks like.

Charlotte gave each of the two mice a drop of the potion, and soon the two mice were in a state of excitement again, starting to spin around and do push-ups.

Conversely, in the four cages above, the mice, upon smelling the potion, shrank into the corners of their cages, seemingly quite resistant to it.

Charlotte caught a white mouse and then took a drop of potion and brought it to its mouth.

The mice began to show strong resistance, and just as the potion was about to enter their mouths, they vomited!

"Is this how the aversion agent got its name?" Charlotte put the vomiting mouse back into the cage and took out another one to test.

As expected, the other four mice that had taken the potion all showed strong resistance to it, their disgust evident in their expressions.

Moreover, the mice that took the initial version of the potion, perhaps due to the severe reaction to the previous medication, fell into a coma upon encountering the potion again, and were on the verge of death.

Charlotte quickly gave the two mice some stamina potion to help them recover.

The two optimized mice were in better condition, but their resistance to the potion was not reduced.

"Good. Let's wait for another drug addiction cycle and see if the effects last and if the addiction will recur." Charlotte closed the notebook.
