I opened a clinic in the Abyss World

Chapter 82 This Damn Competitive Spirit

Truman Estate.

On a long table illuminated by a crystal chandelier, a fair-skinned little girl was sipping milk. She had a pair of small golden antlers on her head. Although she was a little thin, she was still fair-skinned and adorable.

Roland sat opposite her, a gentle smile on his lips. He had picked up the little girl last night. She was originally as black as charcoal, but after washing her clean, she turned out to be quite cute.

After the little girl finished her milk, Roland asked gently, "Dora, where is your mother?"

Dora looked up, a ring of milk stains still clinging to the corner of her mouth, her eyes instantly reddening, and she whispered, "She died. She died when she gave birth to me."

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked."

Roland quickly apologized, looking at the little girl with her pouting lips and tears welling up in her eyes, he felt that what he had just asked was practically a crime.

"It's alright, Brother Roland saved my father and me. You're our savior." Dora held back her tears, shook her head resolutely, and then asked with worry, "Is Father... alright?"

Looking at the sensible child, Roland's heart softened. He took out a silk handkerchief from his breast pocket and wiped the milk stains from the corner of her mouth. He smiled and patted her head. "Don't worry, I'm the most skilled doctor in the Abyss. I'll heal him."

"But..." Dora tapped her finger hesitantly, "Father said that the best doctor in the Abyss is Dr. Charlotte."

Roland's expression froze. It was Charlotte again...

Even such a young child knows Charlotte?

This damn competitive spirit.

"Yes, Charlotte is indeed a good doctor." Roland smiled and nodded, telling himself not to be jealous; it was just a child's opinion, and she would change her mind soon.

"Come on, I'll take you to see your father. He should be waking up soon." Roland took Dora's little hand and walked towards the door.

Ivan was seriously injured last night. He was stabbed five or six times during the fight. If he hadn't been lucky enough to run into someone, there wouldn't have been time to get him to the hospital.

The injury has healed, but what truly worries Roland is his severe addiction to potions. His body has been completely drained, and it's clear that he's been taking potions for more than six months. When the addiction kicks in, he'll likely have a hard time getting through it.

"Where is my daughter? Dora...where is Dora?" Ivan's weak and anxious voice rang out as soon as he reached the door.

"Father! Father, I'm here!" Dora released Roland's hand and ran quickly into the room.

Roland glanced at his hands and felt a little disappointed. He wished he had such a lovely daughter.

But he's not married yet, so where would he get a daughter?

"Dora." Ivan hugged his daughter tightly. Seeing that his daughter was clean and dressed in a pretty little dress, two streams of tears rolled down his cheeks.

Last night, he thought he was going to die, but he was betting that the people in the carriage would take pity on Dora and take her away.

To my surprise, I didn't die, and Dora was being taken good care of.

Roland stood at the door for a while before coming in.

"You must be Lord Roland. Thank you for saving me and Dora." Ivan quickly pulled Dora and was about to kneel down before Roland.

This morning, when the servant brought breakfast, he was told who had saved him.

Lord Roland of the Duru family, director of the Duru Medical Center.

The true big shot in the abyss.

Roland reached out and helped Ivan up, preventing him from kneeling, and smiled, "There's no need for that. I was just doing what I was doing."

He helped Ivan back to sit on the edge of the bed and asked, "Are you feeling unwell right now?"

"Aside from feeling weak all over, I have no other discomfort." Ivan shook his head. He knew very well how many times those guys stabbed him yesterday. He thought he was going to die for sure, but when he woke up today, there wasn't a single wound on his body. Only a few light pink scars remained, which were barely noticeable unless you looked closely.

Roland truly lives up to his reputation as the director of the Dr. Truth Medical Center; his medical skills are simply superb.

"That's good." Roland nodded slightly, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. He had thought Ivan's drug addiction should have kicked in, but judging from his words and actions, he didn't seem to be suppressing his addiction.

Could it be that he took a magic potion yesterday and is still in a state of heightened arousal?

But that's not right either. As the director of Dr. Duru's Medical Clinic, he has seen many patients addicted to magic potions. After taking magic potions, their emotions become extremely excited, and their behavior and speech become abnormal.

Ivan's current condition clearly does not resemble that of someone who has taken medication.

"I put that package you were carrying last night at the foot of your bed," Roland said casually.

Upon hearing this, Ivan glanced nervously at the package, but quickly looked away and replied, "Thank you."

"What's he so nervous about?" Roland narrowed his eyes. He had already checked the package in the car last night. Inside were two bottles of ordinary stamina potions and two bottles of unknown potions, but he was certain they weren't magic potions.

Fearing that Ivan might harm Dora due to his drug addiction, Roland asked directly, "You use potions, don't you?"

Upon hearing this, Ivan looked ashamed, lowered his head, and replied in a low voice, "Yes, because of the potion, I squandered my family fortune and ended up in this state. I have lived a terrible life."

Just then, a small hand reached out and tightly grasped Ivan's hand, proudly saying, "Father no longer touches potions. He's the most skilled tailor in the Abyss; he can make beautiful dresses."

Ivan's dejected heart trembled as he looked at the little guy standing in front of him. The soft little hand in his palm seemed to infuse him with immense energy, warming and softening his heart once more.

Roland felt a pang of sadness. Even in his current state of destitution, in his daughter's heart, he was still the best tailor and a towering father.

However, he keenly caught an important piece of information.

"Have you given up potions?" Roland asked tentatively.

Reason told him that this was absolutely impossible. A severe drug addict like Ivan was already at the end of his life and could only wait to die. It was impossible for him to successfully quit drugs.

However, his current physical condition does indeed suggest that he has completely given up the potion, which is why he has not shown any symptoms of drug addiction.

This was somewhat beyond his comprehension.

"Yes...yes." Ivan nodded, his gaze darting away, avoiding Roland's eyes.

Having received Ivan's admission, Roland's eyes widened slightly, but he refrained from roaring, maintaining his composure in front of the child, and asked, "How did you manage to quit?"

He has participated in the rehabilitation treatment of mild drug addicts several times, but only one case was successful, and it left serious aftereffects. The drug addiction still recurs every half month, and his family can only tie him up and endure it.

Other patients either couldn't bear the pain of drug withdrawal and committed suicide, or they couldn't resist taking the drug again and gave up completely.

It's simply impossible for a severe addict like Ivan to successfully kick the drug!
