Witch Hunter Rhapsody

Chapter 67 Consequences

Vitas looked up at the sky, where Alistair, whom he had shot, had begun to fall.

Wizards haven't undergone pain training, so they probably don't get injured normally.

Wizards need a high degree of concentration to cast spells, and most wizards are not born to fight; they simply cannot fight under the pain that warriors face every day.

However, there's nothing that can be done about it.

To become a powerful wizard, one must devote all their time to learning magic; they have virtually no extra time for other areas of study.

Boom!

As the sound of a heavy object hitting the ground rang out, Vitas turned his gaze in the direction from which the sound came.

Alistair would likely have no chance of survival under such circumstances.

Vitas took a deep breath, ordered his men to return to where they belonged, and then went over alone, carrying his sword.

This time, we can't let this guy have any chance of being resurrected.

The ground was a mess, with uneven soil and some pits several meters or even tens of meters deep.

That's terrifying. Is this the fighting power of a wizard?

Vitas has always been afraid of wizards, and he always makes sure to find out whether a wizard is involved in any battle first.

If wizards were involved, Vitas would certainly lead his knightly order to devise a new strategy first.

They would never allow wizards to fight their own knightly order head-on.

If he were to put his knights and wizards into direct combat, he would surely lose his comrades much sooner.

Vitas felt it was foolish to fight the enemy head-on in an area he was not good at, and he disliked doing so.

He searched along these broken sections of ground for some time before finally finding Alistair.

Alistair had his last breath.

Vitas couldn't help but marvel at Alistair's tenacious vitality.

It is quite remarkable that a wizard can have such tenacious vitality.

"Do you have any last words?"

"Huff... huff..."

He could only gasp for breath, his chest heaving as he tried to buy himself some time to survive.

Vitas bent down, grabbed his head, and slammed it to the ground repeatedly. After the head was shattered and he could no longer hold on, he moved on to the body. Only after the body was also slammed and he could no longer hold on did he finally stop.

Vitas looked at the shards on the ground.

He didn't understand the principles of magic, but if he could still be resurrected even in this state, then he would accept it.

Vitas sighed.

He had only killed Viya, but he didn't know why things had turned out this way. He even felt that the matter was not completely over yet.

Damn it, why did I get involved in this?

Vitas knew in his heart that such a thing was inevitable. He was also preparing for revenge, and he wanted to kill Nexus with his own body. In doing so, he would inevitably cause such a thing to happen.

"Vitas?"

Hearing someone call his name, he turned around and saw the mysterious wizard.

Vitas already had a rough idea in mind, so he didn't bother to ask directly.

"Is that you, Declan?"

"Oh dear, we've been found out."

Declan removed his mask, revealing his face.

"Did Alistair tell you that?"

"I saw it myself, while you were fighting."

Declan's expression turned somewhat strange.

He didn't notice anyone watching him while he was fighting, or was he just too focused?

"I didn't look for long. Just seconds after I recognized you, you ran away."

"So, you killed Alistair all by yourself?"

Declan hadn't planned to return when he fled, but he soon sensed magical fluctuations and stopped to try and figure out who Alistair was fighting.

Then, silence fell.

Driven by the desire to at least see who was fighting, Declan ultimately risked returning.

"You killed Alistair all by yourself?"

Declan only has this one problem now: the reconnaissance spell detected no one else around, and judging from Vitas's appearance, apart from being a little tired, there were no other negative effects.

Could this guy have killed Alistair all by himself, a mere mortal who doesn't know any magic?

Could it be that Vitas is actually a powerful wizard who usually disguises himself as a warrior?

But are there really geniuses who can forge themselves into powerful warriors while mastering the essence of arcane magic?

Or is this guy just a puppet being remotely controlled? And the real controller is a powerful wizard?

Or is he God?

Declan felt he no longer had the rationality to think about such things.

"Yes, I killed him. What do we do now?"

"What are you asking?"

"I killed Maximus, I killed Alistair, they were all Draco's students, damn it, I still have to serve Draco."

Declan didn't need to worry; his teacher could handle these matters, and besides, he hadn't actually killed those two people.

"Why do you attach yourself to Draco?"

"Because I have someone I must kill, and only a powerful wizard like Draco can fulfill my desire."

In that case, my teacher can also work under him. Why don't you work under my teacher? With your abilities, my teacher would value you highly.

Declan didn't say this aloud. Vitas had more secrets than he had imagined, and this feeling was quite irritating to him. If he were to take him to see the teacher like this...

Declan felt he should discuss this with the teacher first before bringing it up.

"Alright, this meteor spell has caused quite a commotion. Let's get out of here first; this is no small matter."

"Is Alistair really dead? Will some necromancer resurrect him?"

Declan looked at Alistair, who had been reduced to a pile of minced meat.

"Ah, I guess I can't be resurrected. If I could be resurrected, I wouldn't have been killed by you."

Vitas was slightly relieved and stood up.

"Oh, I see. That makes me feel a little more at ease."

"Need a hand? You look exhausted."

"No need, wizards are really hard to deal with."

"I'm a wizard too."

Declan unhooked the spatial anchor and opened the portal.

Vitas shook his head.

"I hope that one day I won't have to fight you."

"So, how exactly did you kill Alistair?"

"Can't you use magic to see for yourself?"

"I cannot predict magic."

"Does such magic really exist?"

"Hahaha, magic, isn't it amazing?"

The two disappeared through the portal as if they were friends.

After the portal closed, an old figure appeared.

"How tragic, Raphael, you still haven't mastered your skills."

He looked around and finally reached out to touch the blood on the ground.

Is it hell?
