Chapter 65 The Knight's Duty
Alistair looked at Vitas, calculating how many spells he had left. He had thirty-six spell slots, and had used twenty-one during his fight with Declan, meaning he had fifteen spells left.
Fifteen spells are more than enough to deal with a knight, no matter how skilled or experienced the opponent is in combat. As long as the opponent lacks magical prowess or other spell-related abilities, it's more than enough.
Fifteen spells would be enough to kill him.
However, such outstanding warriors are extremely rare. If only I could recruit them into my ranks...
If he hadn't killed Viya, it would be somewhat understandable, but now Viya was killed by him, and she even knows that he gave the order.
With just a little investigation, the teacher could easily find out the truth about these things.
Then everything I have will be completely ruined.
Alistair has his own ways of resisting the teacher's mental examination and memory reading, but can this person do the same?
Finally, he sighed.
"Alright, Vitas, let's begin the fight. You can't survive."
"It seems we share the same opinion on how to judge each other's fate."
Vitas finally drew his sword.
"bring it on."
The two looked at each other; the wizard waited for the warrior to advance, while the warrior waited for the wizard to begin his incantation.
Alistair was contemplating what kind of spell he should use to annihilate the knight before him.
The distance between them is fifty meters, and the other party can rush to them in ten seconds.
Ten seconds is enough time for a simple spell and a moderately complex spell.
However, judging from his armor, simple spells would definitely be ineffective, merely a waste of time. The effectiveness of moderately complex spells is also uncertain.
Damn it, he still preferred the back-and-forth combat between wizards. After all, the difference in the speed at which wizards cast spells was only a second or two, or even a fraction of a second, and it was precisely this brief time difference that produced the best results.
Since things have come to this, we should retreat first and create more space.
He began to chant.
It is the Zarastir Mage Shield.
Vitas made the judgment, and then rushed forward at top speed.
Alistair was not distracted. He was a little puzzled that Vitas had charged at him without him knowing what spell he was using. If he had used an offensive spell, wouldn't Vitas have been hit directly?
Damn it, is this knight insane?
"Zarastyn Mage Shield!"
Vitas had already arrived in front of him, his longsword pounding against the shield repeatedly, fighting almost right in front of him with an unstoppable momentum.
Damn, how many wizards has this guy killed before? Why is he so intimidating? He's just a mortal!
"Wizards have poor physical abilities, right? Even with your newly created body possessing greater physical strength, it's still not enough."
Vitas continued his attack as he spoke.
As Alistair swapped the damaged shield units with the intact ones, he chanted a spell to attach a dimensional shield to himself.
He was genuinely afraid of being hacked to death; this was definitely not a suitable fighting distance for a wizard.
Vitas knew the techniques for fighting wizards.
A wizard's greatest strength lies in his magic, and casting magic requires incantations, gestures, and materials—all three are indispensable.
However, they need to be focused and have enough time to cast such spells, while the warrior only needs to get close and kill them before the spell is completed.
"Do you know about the wizard hunts of the past? Or rather, the wars?"
Alistair knew that Vitas was trying to distract him.
He certainly knew that many countries had fought wars with wizards or wizarding schools.
"War is fought with human lives. We must cross that distance, that distance that allows wizards to safely cast spells, a distance that is bridged with mortal lives. Do you want to experience that kind of battle?"
No, I don't want to.
Alistair cast another spell.
In an instant, Vitas was sent flying.
"Airflow Explosion Technique"
Vitas really didn't expect such a spell to exist, that he, wearing such heavy armor, would be thrown so far.
"Damn, that's terrifying."
Alistair replied in a sarcastic tone.
"We wizards are not madmen. We learn from all of history, and we do now. Nowadays, we wizards often learn to create distance spells."
The distance between them increased to two hundred meters. If Vitas's armor hadn't been so heavy, he probably would have been blown even further away.
This distance is enough for Alistair to cast any spell.
"Damn it, really, fucking."
Vitas knew now was the time.
"Knights of Sin, charge!"
"What?"
Alistair did not use any reconnaissance spells, and he was unaware of the presence of other people around him.
Moreover, why does the name "Knights of Sin" sound so familiar?
Vitas can only summon his subordinates within 100 meters of himself. Apart from the scout who can appear within a 3-kilometer radius, everyone else can only appear at a distance of 100 meters.
Then, Alistair saw hundreds of figures shrouded in flames appear around Vitas. Among them were dozens of heavy knights clad in heavy armor, riding fine horses. With the help of their horses, the distance of one hundred meters was covered in five or six seconds.
Alistair was momentarily stunned, but it didn't matter; the distance was already sufficient!
Alistair was still chanting, and this chanting would bring forth a spell powerful enough to be cast.
"Hiss!"
Something slammed into the mage shield unit behind Alistair, the loud noise and the shockwave from the shield startling him. He had to stop his spellcasting and turn around to find a guy already behind the shield and had broken it.
"Lightning Bolt!"
Summoning lightning over such a short distance is hardly a wise move; doing so would inevitably result in accidentally injuring oneself.
As expected, the power of the lightning explosion sent the scout flying, and the remaining energy fluctuations shattered almost half of Alistair's dimensional shield.
Many of the surrounding spell shield units were also broken.
More importantly, Alistair's spell was interrupted, and the mounted knights began their charge.
Alistair turned around and saw Vitas riding a ghost horse, followed by more knights, wielding heavy lances, charging menacingly towards him.
"Damn it, I hate charging knights."
