Witch Hunter Rhapsody
Chapter 40 For Your Own Good
Ether's words finally brought the gathered residents to their senses.
These days, the people around have been living in distress and fear because of the existence of the monster Via and the rumors of necromancers.
But tonight, for some reason, when such a crisis actually occurred, the residents actually felt a sense of security.
So much so that when they noticed the existence of the monster Viya, they couldn't help but want to join the battle.
"Aisera, but..."
"Uncle Robert, don't be impulsive. In the current state, the undead are already difficult to deal with. If we add a monster like Viya to the mix, it will only make things more difficult for us."
In the end, the people around did not continue to approach, and the monster Via did not attack. She curiously hid behind Ether, as if this woman could command these people.
For Viya, these guys want to hurt her, so she has to fight back resolutely.
"Everyone, let's leave first. I think Viya's monster can help us get out of our current predicament."
People looked at each other. It was the right decision. However, just as everyone was about to retreat, a group of mercenaries who were even more professional than these spontaneously organized community guards finally arrived.
"Sorry everyone, we've spent some time here. There are undead appearing in many parts of the city now, we must... How did Viya's monster end up here?"
Helena exclaimed in surprise. After Vitas followed the strange wizard to raid the enemy leader, she led the remaining mercenaries to scatter most of the remaining undead.
However, she had already received news that undead had appeared throughout the city, indicating a premeditated attack.
So the various mercenary groups dispersed, trying to save their fellow countrymen as much as possible.
Helena led the Flying Eagle Knights straight to the area where Etherra lived. This was, of course, to give Vitas face, as it was obvious to everyone that Vitas had been getting close to Etherra lately.
Therefore, Helena rushed over, but when she saw that Via's monster was also there, her little thoughts were instantly replaced by greater panic.
"Aisera, get away from that dangerous monster!"
"Don't be afraid of Helena! She's not interested in us right now! Ask the people around you!"
At this moment, the residents who had previously confronted Ether and the monsters began to speak the truth, which was a rare occurrence for them.
"Yes, Viya's monster didn't attack us at all."
"is that so?"
Helena was suddenly relieved that it was her and not someone else who came. In the previous attempts to hunt down the monster Via, other mercenary groups suffered casualties to varying degrees, but the Flying Eagle Knights suffered no casualties at all.
"Alright, everyone, let's move all the residents around here to a safe place. Those who can still move can go put out the fire. Damn it, Ether, those undead behind you are coming!"
As they were talking, Viya's monster had already rushed out to deal with the undead.
It was at this moment that Helena quickly walked into Etherra.
"When did you become so close to this monster?"
"It's hard to say in a short time, but at least we can relax a little for now."
Helena watched cautiously as the monster Via fought fiercely against the undead.
"I didn't expect to be able to convince you."
"We truly have no way to defeat this monster, but Aethera and Vitas can. I believe we can reach an agreement. Once Vitas returns, Via's monster must die. We must give all the dead an explanation."
Ether shook her head.
"This has little to do with us, Helena. Viya's monster is Viya's legacy. The problems that have recently appeared in our city all revolve around it. We may not be able to kill it, not even Vitas."
Helena froze. She had never thought of this before. She only thought that so many people had to die, but she didn't realize that for many people, death was not something unbearable.
"Aisera, you shouldn't just be a blacksmith's daughter."
"I will always be my father's beloved daughter."
After saying this, Etherra immediately asked the question that concerned her most.
"Where's Vitas? Have you seen him?"
Helena truthfully recounted how Vitas was brought there by a bone dragon, and how he then joined forces with a wizard of unknown origin to search for the culprit behind the undead attack.
Ether's expression turned serious. After a moment, she asked very cautiously, "You're not joking, are you?"
"no."
Ether carefully recalled her past relationship with Helena, and realized that Helena certainly didn't seem like the type to joke around at a time like this.
Ethera had no idea what was going on. Even though her lover was now involved in many things, she was willing to believe that Vitas actually didn't know what was happening either.
It all started with Viya's death, which led to the emergence of many wizards, followed by Viya's experimental subjects, and then the appearance of necromancers.
All of this seemed to be connected by some mysterious force, but upon closer inspection, it appeared to be nothing more than a cruel twist of fate.
Etherra did not believe in fate; she believed that human actions were more likely to determine the future than fate itself.
While the two were talking, Viya the Monster was diligently cleaning up the surrounding undead.
She looks like just a young girl, but when she fights, she's like a wild beast, on all fours, using her sharp claws.
During her brief stay in the outside world, Viya's monster was surprised to discover that her claws could be retracted. When she retracted this deadly weapon, she truly became completely like a human girl.
She is still fighting. Her creator, in the eyes of ordinary people, her "mother," has given her feelings and powers beyond those of humans.
She gained her freedom. She could now freely display her talents in this free world.
Now, this talent has brought her an even more irritating threat.
She let out a deeper, more threatening growl.
Helena noticed the monster Via's agitation and placed her hand on her sword.
"Something's coming."
Ether also stopped talking. Even though she wasn't good at fighting, she could still notice the two strange guys.
"These two guys aren't local wizards, are they?"
"The robes they're wearing are even more luxurious than the ones we found in Viya's house back then. To be honest, I don't think they're people we can handle."
Helena drew her sword, and in the sky, Maximus and Alistair maintained their altitude at approximately fifteen meters.
"We found it."
"Maximus, I must commend your mastery of reconnaissance magic."
Maximus shook his head and said.
"Let's end this quickly. He's just an insignificant little beast."
