Chapter 38 Necromancer vs. Undead
"Who exactly are you?"
The mysterious wizard has completed the construction of the anonymous flight spell, which will be cast on Vitas Vitalius, the person who is currently doubting his identity.
"Temporary ally, do not try to discover my identity. Alright, try to fly. You can feel the magic attached to you; submit to it and imagine yourself flying."
Vitas did as instructed, and then, clad in heavy armor, he actually floated up slowly.
"Let's go, let's catch that culprit."
Vitas nodded and looked at Helena, who clenched her fist and pounded her chest.
"Leave it to us with confidence. These enemies are no match for us. As long as no more bone dragons appear, we have nothing to fear!"
Vitas nodded. Of course, he couldn't say that he was actually completely uneasy, but there would be no benefit in saying so.
"Time waits for no one, Your Excellency."
"Okay, okay!"
On the way, the mysterious wizard finally managed to clarify some things for Vitas.
"Viya's death triggered an unexpected chain reaction. Well, to be honest, I was also drawn here by Viya's estate, but I was initially just there to watch the show. However, after noticing that so many forces were paying attention to this woman, my curiosity got the better of me."
"What kind of power do they have?"
The wizard tilted his head, seemingly hesitant.
"It's alright to tell you. Actually, you can figure it out if you think about it carefully. One is Viya's teacher, who belongs to the Drak faction, and the other is naturally Drak's enemy, the Principal High Wizard Nectus faction."
He paused for a moment, as if organizing his thoughts.
"The remaining one is a wizard from the Kingdom of the Dead in Noctis, whose specific faction is unknown. They are the culprits behind tonight's riots."
"How did they sneak in?"
"No one can defeat a well-prepared wizard. In fact, I only just found a clue by exploiting their weakness."
"flaw?"
The wizard said in an admiring tone.
"You also deserve credit. Your performance was so outstanding that they had no choice but to use the Bone Dragon. I managed to capture the spell array that summons the Bone Dragon."
"Damn wizard."
Vitas cursed angrily, feeling like he had been played, that everything he had done was meaningless and a waste of time.
Why should wizards be allowed to conserve their efforts?
Is there anything about them that makes them different from ordinary people?
About twenty minutes later, Vitas followed the wizard and landed in a desolate place.
It was only then that he realized he had no idea when he had left the city.
"Don't be surprised. Without a special magic circle to clear the air in a city like this, this is indeed the only effect it will have."
The wizard watched as Vitas drew his sword, preparing for battle, and suddenly found it somewhat comical. He offered a word of advice.
"Don't get me wrong, this time you're the support. Your job is simply to cover me as I cast spells. You've fought alongside wizards before, haven't you?"
"No, but I have a general idea of how to fight alongside a wizard."
"No, no, no, it's not about fighting side by side."
The mysterious wizard patted Vitas on the shoulder.
Then, a strange little eye landed on Vitas's shoulder.
"You'll carry my eyes, and I'll provide you with long-range fire support. Although combat isn't my forte, I can still kill."
"You bastard..."
Vitas disliked working with people he'd just met, especially wizards, but he had no other choice now. The mysterious wizard took flight once more, giving Vitas one last solemn entrustment.
"Be careful, wizards are dangerous guys."
Vitas hated this feeling. He walked deeper into the wasteland; he disliked this situation. So much so that when he saw the wizard, he didn't immediately draw his weapon.
The wizard didn't fit Vitas's image of a thin, weak wizard; he was robust, even obese, and enormous, sitting on a throne made of bones. To be honest, Vitas didn't think he was sitting, just a pile of flesh.
"How...did you find this place?"
"That's a stupid question. I can tell you perfectly well that a wizard who suddenly appeared out of nowhere brought me here. As for how he found you, that's his problem, not mine. Also, let me warn you, there are many dangerous creatures in this forest. You'd better not get eaten by those monsters when we start fighting; that would be too ridiculous."
The necromancer turned his head, pondering Vitas's words, but soon gave up.
"Ruler of death...may your light shine forever."
Without further ado, the magic circle beneath the necromancer's feet emitted a dazzling light, a light that hurt the eyes and instilled an unprecedented sense of irritation.
The earth cracked, and the dead rose again.
This wasn't the first time Vitas had witnessed similar spells, but the sight of Nectus opening the gates of hell with his strange magic circle was clearly even more spectacular.
"Wizard, did you see that?"
"Quiet down, Vitas, I'm fighting too."
"What?"
Above the sky, the mysterious wizard looked at the dozens of bone dragons circling around him and shook his head helplessly.
"Damn it, I was careless. I didn't expect these guys to have prepared so much stuff."
"Damn it, you idiot! If all wizards are like you, then wizarding is completely doomed!"
Vitas cursed angrily, but the mysterious wizard spoke quite casually.
"Don't be nervous, give me ten minutes..."
With the communication cut off, Vitas turned his gaze back to the necromancer in front of him.
"It's interesting that a wizard was able to find me here. He can't see you now, knight. State your name, and I will turn you into a necromancer worthy of your armor."
Vitas could already sense an overwhelming number of undead around him. If he were to face them alone, then... wait, what did this guy just say?
He said that the mysterious wizard can no longer see him?
"When my allies arrive, that will be the time of your demise!"
"Before that guy even came down, you were already torn to shreds by me! No one could hear your cries; only the endless undead around you would find pleasure in your agony!"
"very good."
Vitas said this.
He roared, "Then you come and try!"
The pain spread, his wounds reopened, and blood gushed out and then congealed. For no reason, a scene of hell appeared around him, with the spirits of hell appearing.
More and more undead appeared, fully armed and carrying weapons. They looked at the undead around them who should not be compared to them. Even the well-informed and high-ranking necromancer felt a sense of unease when he witnessed this strange scene.
"What...what is this?"
The necromancer searched his mind for as much knowledge as possible.
"These are undead from hell? Damn it, aren't you a knight? How can you use such magic!"
"Is this magic?"
Vitas was surrounded by his beloved companions, who brandished their weapons, and the undead around them were instantly reduced to immobile remains.
The necromancer finally sensed something was wrong and immediately began chanting a spell to try to escape, but an arrow shot from behind ended his attempt.
The Knights of Sin naturally also include archers and crossbowmen.
"Hmm!"
The necromancer was shot in the shoulder, but he didn't cast a mage shield on himself because he believed that the knight in front of him couldn't possibly break through the defenses of so many undead.
But within seconds, hundreds of undead were cut down. Vitas, clad in heavy armor, had already closed to within thirty meters of him.
He can rush over within ten seconds, but shield spells take at least fifteen seconds.
A hint of panic finally appeared on the necromancer's face.
"No, we can talk. We don't even know each other. You see, we're both quite surprised to see each other. We can communicate now. You don't even know who your ally is, do you?"
From a rational perspective, the necromancer's suggestion was correct; Vitas was currently shrouded in mist and knew nothing.
However, Vitas is currently unable to maintain his composure.
Summoning his dead comrades would inflict terrible pain on his mind and body, and such pain would cause Vitas to lose his ability to think calmly.
Vitas grabbed the necromancer, his eyes looking at him through the helmet.
"No, please don't do that."
Vitas's words even contained a hint of laughter.
"No, that's exactly what I'm going to do."
Vitas lifted the necromancer, and he could hear his companions calling out, though it was undoubtedly an illusion.
"Hehehehehe ahahahahaha!"
Vitas tore the necromancer in two, making him as dead as could be.
However, the undead he summoned still did not disappear. Vitas, relying on his last remaining sanity, sent his summoned companions back.
Even if the remaining undead are numerous, it's only a matter of time before they're gone.
……
above the sky.
The mysterious wizard had been thoroughly humiliated by the bone dragon.
Besides the bone dragon, there are some damned wizards spying on me, perhaps preparing some kind of spell.
The mysterious wizard also knew that Vitas alone could not solve the problem.
at this point.
Fortunately, I had given them prior notice.
"Teacher! Please help me!"
A gate shimmering with an eerie light appeared in the sky, from which hundreds of enormous tentacles emerged.
"When did the teacher develop this spell? Damn it, the teacher's strength is getting more and more terrifying."
A voice rang out.
"Don't waste your time, don't betray the name of me, Nectus Noctunus."
"Understood, teacher! By the way, teacher, there's this really interesting guy you'd like to meet?"
"There's no need."
