Witch Hunter Rhapsody

Chapter 29 The Argumentative People

Vitas Vitalius was unaware that beads of sweat were already sliding down his cheeks.

When Esther Hammer saw this, she instinctively took out her handkerchief and went over to wipe it.

The girl saw their intimate behavior, but she didn't understand why, and just turned her head away with a puzzled expression.

"Is this the little homeless boy you mentioned taking care of before?"

"Yes, I found her injured when I met her today, and look at this wound, it doesn't look like a human injury at all, so I came to ask you for help. Is she human?"

"My God, how could she possibly be human? Let's find another place to talk."

"But she..."

"I'll find something to eat and try to calm things down first."

Vitas took out some raisins and small loaves of bread from his cupboard, and the girl's eyes lit up.

While she was enjoying her meal, Vitas pulled Etherra into his bedroom.

"My God, you've really given me a lot of trouble."

Aysera looked around. This was her first time entering Vitas's bedroom, but after hearing that she had caused a lot of trouble, she finally became serious.

"Could that girl be from some dangerous race?"

"That girl is probably the monster we've been trying to hunt down these past few days."

"ha?"

Forgetting all etiquette, Etherra exclaimed in surprise.

"How did you recognize me?"

"Because that wound was inflicted by me. Damn it, you know my sword, right? I used all my strength to cut it, and now it's left with that scar. Tsk, that's a bit bad."

"But...but I was very calm when I met her, she wasn't that threatening."

"Sigh, don't talk about that. She killed someone, and that's the threat itself. You can't assume it's safe just because she didn't kill anyone."

Etherra didn't know what to do, so she could only ask Vitas.

"What do we do now?"

"Let's calm her down first. Fortunately, she seems relatively normal now. If she attacks the two of us, I really don't have much confidence in protecting you without armor."

Vitas looked to the side, where the sword lay on his bedside table.

"Go find some people to surround this area. I'll take care of this guy first."

Ether looked at Vitas; it was the first time she had ever seen him so serious.

"Are you sure there's no problem?"

How could there not be?

Vitas wanted to say that, but he was afraid that if he did, Aethera wouldn't want to go out and call for help.

So, Ethera hurriedly walked out, and the girl immediately looked at her. Ethera wanted to explain to the girl that she needed to leave temporarily.

However, the girl couldn't understand Ether's words.

She grabbed Ether's clothes.

Vitas frowned as he watched this scene; ignoring this was a mistake.

The girl's level of trust in Ether was definitely higher than that of others, and her willingness not to attack Ether was also proof of this.

In that case...

"Aisela, you stay here and keep her calm, I'm going to go find someone."

We must seize this opportunity.

Vitas knew in his heart that he was worried not only about Ether's safety, but also about whether Ether would secretly let this guy go because of him.

Vitas knew Ether's character well; Ether was a kind person, and he had never witnessed the horrors created by this girl.

Vitas cannot assume that Ether wouldn't do that.

But there was no better way. His armor wasn't fully on, and he didn't know what kind of defensive capabilities the monster girl possessed.

We can only take a gamble.

Vitas hates this kind of behavior.

As he walked out the door, the girl cast a glance at him, a gaze that was truly chilling, like a hunter sizing up his prey.

Vitas stepped out of the room; he had to get to Helena as quickly as possible to gather as many mercenaries as possible.

As he stepped out of the house, he saw his panicked landlady.

"Mr. Vitalius! Help me!"

His gaze continued to extend, noticing the dozen or so corpses behind the landlady.

Amidst the rotting flesh lay stark white bones, and a foul-smelling liquid of black and yellow flowed out.

Vitas certainly knew what it was; he had undoubtedly seen it in his past adventures.

Undead creatures are the product of evil magic that allows a living being to roam the world again after its death; they are undoubtedly the work of wizards.

Vitas realized he had overlooked the most crucial issue: the girl was Viya's academic legacy, and no wizard could possibly be uninterested in her.

Suddenly, he understood why the girl, who had been trapped in Viya's secret laboratory, had been suddenly released.

In other words, someone who knows Viya entered and released her.

In other words, he was Delac's student and Viya's classmate.

So why didn't Maximus tell himself?

Vitas frowned, realizing he had overlooked the possibility of the wizard when dealing with the girl.

Damn it.

"Go find Helena and the others quickly!"

Vitas drew his longsword.

Although the use of two-handed longswords is not allowed inside the city, the situation is urgent and we have no choice but to take action.

Vitas remained calm, knowing that these undead summoners might be watching him from somewhere.

"I hate those damn undead creatures."

Vitas's attack was swift; he cleaved the undead in front of him in half almost instantly, and then cut down another one at an almost impossible speed.

However, these undead are even more foolish than the most stupid beasts. Even wild animals would feel fear when they see their kind being killed so swiftly, but the undead do not. They still charge forward without fear.

Vitas swung his greatsword continuously, blocking the undead's attacks.

"Why are there so many?"

There were hundreds of undead, and if the attack hadn't come from a narrow alley, Vitas would probably have been surrounded.

Inevitably, he heard a strange howl coming from his own home.

"Damn it, there are some over there too, Etherra!"

He fought and retreated, trying to protect Ether, but the undead kept closing in. If he retreated, they would spread out, making him even more passive.

When dealing with an enemy whose numbers far exceed your own, you must prioritize reducing their numbers.

Vitas wanted to summon his undead; with such power, the number of these undead would be no match for him.

But what if that wizard is observing...?

Vitas hesitated for a moment, gritted his teeth, and swung his sword wildly, clearing an area where he could summon his dead subordinates.

Please!

Just as he was about to plunge his sword into the ground, he heard a call from outside the alley.

"There are undead here! Everyone, come quick!"

It was Helena's voice, and Leon's too! The Eagle Knights had arrived!

Wait a minute, the landlady only left less than ten minutes ago, how did they suddenly arrive?

Vitas had no time to think further; he abandoned summoning his subordinates and continued wielding his sword.

"Vitas!"

"Watch out, that monster is upstairs right now!"

Helena, who was fighting the undead, didn't react for a moment.

"What monster?"

Vitas shouted.

"Viya's monster!"

"What?"

Helena was also stunned.
