Warriors will die if they charge.

Chapter 50: A New Adventure

Marcus was unusually quiet today, spending the entire morning alone in front of the laurel tree in the yard testing his social terrorist talents.

"It must be very uncomfortable for you to grow here. After all, there is no heart-stirring love for you to witness, and no king's triumphant procession will use your beautiful leaves. The fertilizer you eat is mixed with the stench of goblins."

"I was in a good mood today... at least before I saw you."

"You need to keep an eye on this yard, lest an idiot like you comes to steal things."

When there was no wind, green leaves fell on Marcus's face. The furious laurel tree did not hesitate to break off its newly sprouted buds and fruits to vent its anger on the warrior who was performing the great tongue ritual.

If the man in front of him were a druid, he would surely be able to feel the tree's wrath.

Unfortunately, he was a Muggle warrior who knew nothing of the tree's plight except to continue mocking an unyielding laurel tree.

"I'm numb, I have to shut up for a few days..." Marcus covered his face, and when he saw a hummingbird fly overhead, he couldn't help but shout:

"Hey, didn't your mother teach you to obey traffic rules? Don't rush to die just because life is short. There are countless rotten flowers stuck in cow dung waiting for you, you fool."

The tiny hummingbird swooped down from mid-air with a rapid flap of its wings, its sharp, cone-like beak propelled by the air, its red eyes seemingly about to peck out the foul-mouthed warrior's eyeballs.

Marcus sighed and slapped away the hummingbird that had come to mock him with a large, mocking gift from his tongue. The bird looked silly, like a wobbly steamed bun.

The hummingbird was slapped and hung on the laurel tree, and the two brothers finally had a companion.

Standing by the second-floor window, Trish saw Marcus's actions and her brow twitched like a goblin whose toe had been stepped on.

What else could she say?

Because I slept in the same bed with her yesterday, my dull-witted language system suddenly woke up?

But what comes out of his mouth is not beautiful and moving poetry, nor humorous and witty remarks; instead, it is foul language that makes people angry.

She was certain that this was definitely influenced by some kind of weird thing. With Marcus's straightforward mind and his mercenary habits, it was impossible for him to make sarcastic remarks in a roundabout way.

Forget it, whatever. If he dares to say that to me, I'll draw my knife.

Zhuoer sighed and checked the house again to make sure there were any places he had missed. He could accept this change without a care in the world, but she couldn't.

Sighs echoed from beneath the laurel tree. Marcus believed that the Great Gift in the Tongue was similar to the talents of theropods, both requiring time to internalize and adapt.

He pursed his lips tightly, poured a ladle of water into the bare laurel tree, and began another round of work.

Today's plan is still to tidy up the house. The bedroom is mostly done, but the kitchen is so clean that even mice don't want to go there. There's no firewood, water tank, storage cabinet, let alone food.

I didn't want to renovate the old house, mainly because I was lazy and busy with training.

Moreover, the original plan was to go out and explore after completing the training, and save the money to replace equipment and prepare supplies.

Now that he's taken over a hundred sword wounds, Marcus won't be stingy with the money for a decent courtyard.

Money can be earned again, but satisfaction is not always available. Who doesn't want a quiet and spacious place to live?

Even the lazy Drow Lady joined in tidying up the house. She put down her hood, picked up a burlap sack, and began to scrub the dust off the walls, corners, and grout lines. Her skillful movements made Marcus smile.

The girl I picked up from the devil's clutches has finally matured...

No, I can't speak!

After a busy day, I finally got the kitchen set up.

When it was time to eat, Bardin, who had heard at the tavern that his friend had moved to a new house, came to visit with two bottles of ale. The dwarf, puffing out his beard, was somewhat annoyed.

"Tough guy, you didn't tell me about this. If the old maid hadn't said you moved, I would have thought you were still living in that little bungalow."

Marcus didn't speak, biting his lip, and waved for Bardin to come in and eat.

Bardin didn't think much of it and said with a smile:

"I could smell the fragrance from far away, haha."

The dwarf readily followed Marcus into the living room.

When he saw Trish bringing out a steaming pot of iron from the kitchen, he muttered something under his beard:

"That's a ghost."

Lunch was a thick soup with bony fish, a local specialty. The tender and smooth bony fish only needed to be sprinkled with some coarse salt and bay leaves, and the spices were used to mask the slight earthy taste, turning it into a dish that seemed to be soaking in thick milk.

"Wow, tough guy, your cooking is really good."

"It was made by Trish; her craftsmanship is only slightly better than..."

Trissy glared at Marcus, who was about to make a witty remark. He swallowed hard, cutting off the part he was about to say: "Only slightly better than goblins."

"Aunt Nora is a little less skilled; her control over the heat and the amount of ingredients barely qualifies her as a chef."

The strange-looking dwarf glanced at the drow who was silently eating. Her calm and aloof face seemed to say, "If you look at me again, I'll kill you."

"This is unbelievable."

After dinner, it was getting dark. Zhuoer took the initiative to clean up, taking away the pot and bowls that were completely clean. His skillful manner made Bading stare in disbelief.

The dwarf, with his pipe in his mouth, reached into his pocket, leading Marcus to assume he wanted to play cards, but instead he mentioned something else:

"How much of the hundred gold coins the witch gave you is left?"

I've been spending a lot of money on food and clothing lately. I ordered several sets of tables and cabinets from Old Peter, all made of good materials. Right now, the kitchen only has a large water tank, and I need to add some ceramic jars for storing food. All in all, it's cost quite a bit of money.

Marcus first thought through what he wanted to say, and finally chose to keep it brief:

"Twenty-five. I also want to tidy up this ugly empty space in the middle, turn it into a garden and grow some roses, dahlias and pansies. Have the halflings never eaten in their lives? They think of planting vegetables as soon as they have a little empty space."

Damn it, how could I say that planting vegetables in empty spaces is wrong? I also want to use empty spaces to grow vegetables!

But growing flowers is also a good idea.

Suddenly having his own yard, Marcus felt that making money was a good thing. While going all in and winning big was certainly exciting, one should always have a long-term plan...

First, set up a small villa, plant some flowers and grass, raise two fighting roosters, and dig a wine cellar. Life will be wonderful and something to look forward to.

As for what happens next, we'll talk about that later. I don't have any deep-seated hatred that I absolutely have to resolve.

"This will cost a lot of money." Bardin smiled mysteriously and took out two yellowed papers from his pocket.

Marcus took it and examined it carefully. It was a commission from the Adventurers' Guild, requesting the search for May Li and Golden Scales in the rainforest across the river.

He stared blankly at the assignment letter, when the mission notification appeared.

[Task: May Beauty]

Task Description: May Beauty, also known as Rose Red, is often used as an important adjuvant in the anti-aging drug "Romy." The Silver Mountain Alchemy Workshop has long been favored by wealthy women because of the magical effects of "Romy"—it can make an elderly woman with graying temples as elegant and beautiful as she was in her youth, even if only temporarily…

Aging is not a disease, but a curse that can only be cured by the one who cast the curse, and that wizard is named Time.
