Take her as my wife

Chapter 10: Dinner at the sister and brother's bridal chamber

It was about a fifteen-minute drive from the coffee shop to the area where Chen Siyao's private high school was located. Jiang Ni noticed that Tan Wen had become less talkative after they got in the car. While waiting at a red light, she turned her head and asked, "Are you carsick?"

However, he didn't look like he was carsick; he seemed more like he had heatstroke.

His face was flushed an unnatural red, and his long, bare neck was covered in fine beads of sweat. The sweat slid down his honey-colored skin, leaving barely noticeable watermarks.

"Did you stand outside the coffee shop for too long and get heatstroke?" Jiang Ni subconsciously reached out and touched his forehead, noticing that it felt a bit hot. "There seems to be some Huoxiang Zhengqi Water in the car..."

As she spoke, she pointed to the glove compartment in the passenger seat: "Look for it."

Tan Wen has thick skin and can stand in the sun for an hour or two during training without feeling uncomfortable, so it's definitely not heatstroke.

He's simply in heat.

Fortunately, Jiang Ni's bag was with him, and placing it on his lap became his best and only fig leaf.

"I didn't get heatstroke, it's just too hot." That's what he said, but he still obediently went to find some Huoxiang Zhengqi Water and drank a bottle.

A dozen minutes later, we arrived at our destination.

Jiang Ni dropped Tan Wen off first and then went to find a parking spot herself.

Tan Wen took out his phone and made a call.

"I'll bring a friend to check the surveillance footage later. Remember to let the person in charge of Hongfan Road and Linwan Street know in advance."

The person on the other end replied respectfully, "Okay, okay, I'll call right away."

The hotel was very efficient, so when Jiang Ni followed Tan Wen inside and asked to see the surveillance footage, the hotel manager readily agreed and led them to the monitoring room.

Jiang Ni matched the date with the Friday when Chen Siyao had the accident and began to slowly move the progress bar. After school ended, many students gradually appeared in this area.

The time on the surveillance video reached 7:06 PM. In summer, it gets dark late, and the sunset was still orange-red. Several teenagers of varying heights walked closer and closer from the street corner.

Chen Siyao was the only one wearing a school uniform, making her stand out.

She was being dragged along, her backpack slung over her shoulder, while a boy with a buzz cut was holding her, a cigarette dangling from his lips, his hand already restlessly groping Chen Siyao's chest.

Jiang Ni guessed that this was the "Wang Feipeng" that Sun Zhijie had mentioned who attempted to assault Chen Siyao.

If you walk a few hundred meters further down this street and turn at another intersection, you'll find an old alley that hardly anyone walks in.

There are no security cameras in the alley, but there are at another hotel next to the alley entrance.

After copying the video, Jiang Ni stood up and said to Tan Wen, "Let's go take another look at that hotel."

She was in a hurry and didn't notice the hotel manager bowing to Tan Wen.

Tan Wen strode after her. At this time of day, the sun was blazing, and Jiang Ni's fair skin was directly exposed to the sunlight. Tan Wen grabbed her wrist: "Sister, let me go. You wait for me here. I've already memorized what those children look like."

He pulled Jiang Ni back to the hotel lobby: "Sit here for a while, I'll be right back."

Jiang Ni watched him disappear around the street corner in a few steps, feeling comforted. Speaking of which, Tan Wen may seem cold and arrogant, but deep down he is just like Tan Yan, a thoughtful and gentle man.

Not long after she sat down, the hotel manager she had just met reappeared and personally brought her a drink.

Jiang Ni was quite surprised, but then she thought about it and realized that Tan Wen must be a good friend of the hotel owner, which was why the owner was taking special care of her. She thanked him, took a couple of sips of her drink, and then took out her phone to pass the time.

The software first pushed out a video of a "luxury car hitting a person".

The accident was captured on video by passersby, showing the terrifying moment of the collision, which lasted only a few seconds.

The red sports car sped along the road at no less than 120 km/h, completely disregarding the cars and pedestrians in front of it. It first struck an electric scooter; even with the image blurred, it was clear the scooter was thrown off its scooter and separated from its rider, crashing heavily to the ground! But the red sports car didn't stop; instead, it continued its reckless rampage, hurtling towards a couple and three girls in middle school uniforms.

There are no reports yet on what will happen next.

There is no clear information regarding the casualties.

Jiang Ni frowned. She observed carefully and clearly saw that the wife of the young couple was a pregnant woman with a large belly.

There are more ills than good luck.

She then searched for related videos of the car accident using keywords, but found very few that matched, indicating that the incident had been deliberately suppressed.

Jiang Ni knew perfectly well that this must be some rich second-generation young master who had caused a huge disaster, and now the forces behind him were all mobilizing to try to protect him/her.

Jiang Ni thought for a moment and then called Liu Jiaren.

Liu Jiaren was probably taking a nap, her voice a little muffled: "Nini, why are you calling me at this hour?"

"Any gossip or news circulating in the industry these past few days?" Jiang Ni added, "I just came across a video of a sports car hitting someone."

"No... I've been busy preparing for my art exhibition these past few days, staying in my studio and completely oblivious to what's going on around me," but Jiang Ni's words piqued her curiosity. "What's wrong? Did some rich kid or young lady get into trouble?"

Jiang Ni was also unsure of the specifics: "I don't know, let's wait and see. Maybe the police are already investigating."

"Oh...right, Nini, is that sexy pervert still around?"

Jiang Ni responded with an "Mmm," indicating she wasn't really interested in talking about this person.

Liu Jiaren said, "Nini, can you ask him for me if he can take some half-body photos of you? You can wear underwear, but the lighting needs to be bright. I want him to be my model."

Their art students have such unconventional thinking. Jiang Ni remained silent for a long time, clearly unwilling to take the initiative to ask a man for those kinds of photos.

Liu Jiaren pleaded with her, "Good Nini~ Please help me out~ Our studio has found several nude models, but none of them have the feel I'm looking for. Either their abs are asymmetrical, or their nipples are too dark, which is unsightly."

Jiang Ni: "..."

"Is it okay?"

"I'll ask him. If he's unwilling, there's nothing I can do," Jiang Ni compromised.

Liu Jiaren laughed and said, "He showed you his most treasured things, he'll definitely say yes. Mua, love you~ Looking forward to your good news! Ah, it would be best if you could take a few pictures of him sitting and a few of him standing!"

Jiang Ni hung up the phone and stared blankly at it.

A voice rang in my ears: "What are you asking? What do you mean, 'willing or not'?"

Turning her head, she saw Tan Wen standing behind her.

Jiang Ni coughed lightly and mumbled, "Nothing... so fast? Did you gain anything?"

Tan Wen shook his head and then nodded. Jiang Ni didn't understand. He took out Jiang Ni's USB drive and said, "You can't say that men are 'fast'—that they get something out of it. That guy with the buzz cut tried to assault the girl in the school uniform. The girl pulled out a small knife and cut his hand. Then several of them started beating her. She fought back with the knife and ran away. The video is a bit blurry, but it was all captured."

Although Jiang Ni had no experience in that area, being around Liu Jiaren inevitably led to some "influence," so she could understand the "fast" that Tan Wen mentioned.

She reluctantly skipped his words and reached for the USB drive, but Tan Wenju raised his hand high, refusing to let her reach it.

"Stop fooling around." Jiang Ni stood up and moved closer to him.

Jiang Ni isn't short; she's definitely at least 169cm tall. Her nude high heels today were about 5cm high, but she still looked petite and delicate standing next to Tan Wen. Her outstretched arm barely touched his wrist.

Tan Wen lowered his eyes to look at her: "Today, in order to help my sister, I went past the time I was supposed to return to school on my application form—the counselor told me to go back and run ten laps tonight."

Jiang Ni was taken aback: "Huh? Sorry, I'll take you back to school now."

"I don't need your sister to take me," he bent down and leaned closer to Jiang Ni. "How about you treat me to dinner tonight as compensation?"

His nose was high and straight, his eyebrows sharp and angular, and his double eyelids slightly upturned. Such a handsome face was magnified before Jiang Ni's eyes, but unfortunately, Jiang Ni was only focused on what he had just said. She frowned and asked, "It's fine, but didn't you say you were late returning to school? Can we still eat dinner outside?"

Moreover, it's not even 4 PM yet, and dinner won't be until 6 or 7 PM. Jiang Ni originally planned to take the USB drive to organize important information.

Tan Wen realized that his face had no appeal to her whatsoever. He stood up straight in frustration, grabbed Jiang Ni's wrist, and placed the USB drive in her palm: "The ten laps are already set. It doesn't matter whether I go back now or a few hours later."

That seems to be true.

Jiang Ni put away the USB drive and asked him, "Then wait for me to organize the data, and we'll go out for dinner at six o'clock—what do you want to eat?"

Tan offered her an unexpected option: "How about we eat at your place?"

"Okay." Jiang Ni was more decisive than he had expected.

Jiang Ni drove him home. Aunt Zhou had received a message from Jiang Ni beforehand, knowing that guests were coming for dinner that night, so she specially went to buy a lot of good ingredients to cook. When they arrived home, the lamb chops that Aunt Zhou had prepared were just about to be put into the pot.

Hearing a noise at the door, she hurriedly went to greet him warmly. When she looked up, she saw a tall and handsome young man carrying Jiang Ni's bag.

Aunt Zhou was a little unsure about Tan Wen's identity.

She was the auntie that Jiang Ni hired when she was in college. Later, Jiang Ni and Tan Yan lived together in this house—although they slept in separate rooms, Aunt Zhou knew that Tan Yan and Jiang Ni were going to get married.

Not long ago, Jiang Ni asked her to pack up Tan Yan's things and send them away, and Aunt Zhou guessed that the two had broken up.

So, is this handsome guy now... his new love interest?

"He's much more handsome than Tan Yan! Now we have a perfect match!" Aunt Zhou thought to herself.

Just as she finished thinking, she heard Tan Wen ask, "Sister, what should I wear?"

Sister? Aunt Zhou was confused. She had known Jiang Ni for many years and had no idea that she had such a handsome younger brother.

Because there was still something simmering in the pot, Aunt Zhou called out to Tan Wen, poured him a glass of water and put it on the coffee table, then went back to her own business, not looking or listening any further.

Jiang Ni opened the shoe cabinet and found him a new pair of men's slippers.

Tan took off his shoes and put them on, seemingly just casually asking, "My brother's?"

"Sort of, I bought them in his size, but he's never worn them," Jiang Ni replied, changing into her own pair of pink slippers and walking into the living room.

Tan opened the closet again and took another look. After confirming that the men's slippers hadn't been worn, he felt much more at ease.

He followed behind Jiang Ni, looking around and scanning every corner of the room—good, there was nothing about Tan Yan.

But then he thought about how this house was Jiang Ni and Tan Yan's wedding home, and his heart felt heavy and sour.

He couldn't see the bedroom, but he could imagine the scene of them sharing a bed.

Hug, kiss, make love.

Damn, his eyes drooped, and he looked utterly dejected.

Jiang Ni turned her head and saw him standing there with a cold face, which puzzled her.

So I asked him, "Do you want to watch TV in the living room or come with me to the study? There's a computer and a PSP in the study."

Without hesitation, Tan asked, "The study."

He also needed to check the study for any trash left by Tan Yan.

Will they do [something] in the study?

He thought with a stern face—definitely. Because if it were him, he would have taken Jiang Ni to experience every corner of the room.
