Curse Return: Demon Void Girl Doesn't Want to Be a Weakling
Chapter 80 Baseball Game
The baseball field was originally part of the college and the facilities were fairly complete.
The stands are on the west side of the stadium, with four rows of plastic seats mounted on iron frames and covered by sunshades.
Mashiro sat on the far left, next to Gojo Satoru, Yagami Masamichi, and Rakuganji Yoshinobu.
When Leyan Temple sat down, his shoulders were still stiff and he had bandages on his body, indicating that his injuries from that day had not yet healed.
He placed the water bottle at his feet, and the bottom of the bottle hit the cement floor.
Mashiro glanced at him but didn't say anything more.
On the field, Huzhang stood in the batting box with his bat on his shoulder.
Kyoto School's pitcher is Gakusou, and the first pitch he threw was so fast from his prosthetic arm that its trajectory was impossible to see.
Itsuki swung his bat but missed, and the ball slammed into San-rin's glove with a crisp sound.
"Hey! Isn't this robot being a bit too lazy?!"
"The rules don't say it's forbidden, right? As long as you don't use magical powers, it's fine."
"Damn it!" Itajō put his hat back on and shouted, "Again!"
"Great! Very energetic!"
Itadori twirled the baseball bat in his hand and readjusted his stance.
The second time he grazed the ball, it bounced out of bounds and rolled into the bushes, and the panda ran over to retrieve it.
……
"To be honest, isn't it a bit inappropriate to send the mechanical ball?" Moth said after a moment of silence.
"That's what makes it fun." Gojo Satoru rested his elbows on his knees, his fingers interlaced, supporting his chin. "That's how jujutsu baseball should be."
"Itadori Yuujin," Rakuganji said, "according to the rules of jutsu, his existence is simply forbidden."
"That's true," said Moth, "but some lives were saved because of him."
"I can't deny it." Leyan Temple was silent for a moment. "Anyway, I can't do anything to him anymore, so maybe accepting it now is a good thing."
Gojo Satoru burst into laughter, a very loud laugh. "You old man, you've finally met your match, hahaha!"
Veins bulged on Leyan Temple's forehead, and his fist hardened.
"bite!!"
The third pitch was hit by a bat; the metallic sound of the bat hitting the ball echoed throughout the stadium, and the ball flew over the second baseman's head and crashed into the outfield.
Itadori threw down his bat and started running the bases. He stopped at first base, turned around, and gave a thumbs-up to the ready Fushiguro Eri.
Fukuhei nodded, his eyes resolute.
"You've fully recovered," said Moth.
"His recovery speed is significantly faster than that of an average sorcerer." Gojo Satoru watched Itadori flex his fingers on first base. "The numbers speak for themselves."
"Is it because of Sukuna?" Rakuganji asked.
"No." Mashiro shook her head. "Her physical strength was already very high before she ate Sukuna's finger; it was innate."
After those words were spoken, the stands fell silent for a few seconds.
"Born with such a strong body, isn't that a curse from heaven?" Moth paused for a moment, "A rare talent?"
"How many of Sukuna's fingers were stolen?" Mashiro asked, changing the subject.
Rakuenji turned to look at her, but with two people between them, he could only see half of Mashiro's profile.
"All of them." Gojo Satoru stretched. "All six fingers have been stolen. How interesting."
"It's ridiculous that the higher-ups are so afraid of Tiger Staff, yet they colluded with the Cursed Spirit to send him their finger."
"There aren't many people within the college who can cleanse residual curse energy," Moth said, spreading her hands on her knees. "There will still be traces left behind."
"I'll go see that guy who signed the transfer papers we found before tonight." Gojo Satoru tapped his fingers on his knee twice. "He's the key."
"And then what?" Moth asked.
Gojo Satoru lifted his chin from his fingers. "Clean them out one by one. The higher-ups are already rotten. Are we going to keep rotten oranges for the New Year?"
Moth frowned slightly, Leyan Temple straightened his back a little, and his fingers paused on the water bottle cap.
Is this something I can say?
Moth hesitated for a moment. He could certainly hear the murderous intent in Gojo Satoru's words, but he still asked a question.
"What do you mean by cleaning?"
"Literally, it means washing away the filth and becoming clean and new again." Gojo Satoru tilted his head, his expression hidden by his eye patch. "Anyway, they didn't leave any other people a way out, did they?"
Moth was silent for a few seconds. He had known Gojo Satoru for a long time and knew when he was joking.
At least not now.
"You're serious." Moth felt he had to sit up to listen, his back ramrod straight.
"I've always been serious, but you all thought I wouldn't really do it." Gojo Satoru removed his fingers from his knees, leaned back in his chair, and turned to Rakuganji. "Headmaster Rakuganji, what do you think?"
Leyan Temple did not answer immediately; he picked up the water bottle, unscrewed it, and took a sip.
Although he tried to calm his inner turmoil, it was still very obvious.
"Are you crazy?" he sighed. "If you kill all the high-ranking members now, the world of sorcery will be in chaos."
"It doesn't matter." Mashiro turned her gaze from the court to Rakuganji and said, "Someone in the higher-ups is actively cooperating with Rakuso. Sukuna's finger being stolen is just the first step. Can you guess what they'll do with the finger next?"
"Strike first to gain the upper hand. By restoring order to the entire sorcery world, we can secure our rear and focus on dealing with the enemy."
Leyan Temple looked at her; the wound she had inflicted that day was still throbbing with pain.
He had seen Mashiro's expression when she said she wanted to kill him, and it was the same as now—no hesitation, no room for negotiation.
"And," Mashiro said, looking at the students playing baseball on the field, "Principal Rakuganji, you don't want your precious students to die, do you?"
After hearing this, Leyan Temple remained silent for a moment, and finally sighed.
"You can do it, I have no objection," Leyan Temple said. "I will tell you some things I know."
"Tell me in detail tonight." Gojo Satoru nodded.
"Wait a minute, what will you do after you're done cleaning up?" Moth lifted her hands from her knees, interrupting their conversation.
"Although the upper echelons are corrupt, the daily operations of the sorcery world still require decision-makers. If all the old men are purged, who will approve the budget, who will allocate tasks, and who will liaise with the government?"
"Headmaster of Rakuganji Temple," Gojo Satoru said with a smile.
Leyan Temple suddenly raised his head. "Me?"
"You will be the decision-maker on the surface. You are a veteran conservative, so outsiders will not be wary of you, and you will be in charge of all daily affairs."
Leyan Temple remained silent for a long time. "It can't be that simple, can it? You trust me to be the decision-maker?"
"Although you're a bit old-fashioned, you're still a good person, otherwise Mashiro wouldn't have spared your life."
Then Gojo Satoru pointed to himself and then to Mashiro, "Leave the important matters to us to make the decisions."
Rakuganji shifted his gaze from Gojo Satoru to Mashiro.
One is the strongest in modern times, and the other seems to be incredibly strong as well.
He paused for a moment, then said, "In other words, the decision is actually made by the two of you. I'm just the sign you pushed to the front."
"Very insightful." Mashiro nodded.
