In the passenger seat, Trish did not answer immediately.
His gaze swept across the rearview mirror, glanced at the police car closely following behind, and then at the motorcycles parallel to his left. His eyes narrowed slightly, and the relaxed curve of his lips slowly flattened.
He didn't panic, but his expression clearly darkened.
How did the police get here?
This is not Germany, nor is it the territory where his family's influence is deeply entrenched.
The police in Xia Kingdom responded much faster than he had expected.
"Woo-beep! Beep beep!"
"Traffic car license plate number A87777! We are traffic police! Pull over immediately!"
The shouts from behind grew more urgent and the tone rose, conveying a sense of urgency that seemed to be directly visible through the loudspeaker, making it as if one could see the serious expression on the face of the traffic police officer.
Lin Yutang secretly took a breath, forcing herself to calm down.
She dared not make a sound, dared not move, and dared not even let Trish notice the glimmer of hope that had ignited in her eyes.
But her heart was beating incredibly fast.
This is an opportunity, her only chance.
"Ignore them," Trish's voice finally rang out, calm as if the sirens didn't exist. "Keep driving to the airport."
He paused, turned his head, and instructed the man next to Lin Yutang in the back seat: "Call the family's president in the Xia Kingdom region and have him handle the matter with the Xia Kingdom police."
The man immediately took out his phone and looked down to search for numbers.
Trish's tone was so certain that it shook the little hope that had just been ignited in Lin Yutang.
She glanced at him instinctively and saw that he was still relaxed in his seat.
For him, anything that can be solved with money and power is not a problem.
"By the way," Trish added, his voice flat, "have him find out why the police got involved. Who called the police, bring them here."
He turned his head, his gaze passing over the back of the chair and landing on Lin Yutang's face.
There was no intense emotion in those eyes, only a sense of confidence and ruthlessness.
"I want Lin Yutang to watch him die."
Lin Yutang's pupils suddenly contracted.
Her shoulders trembled, her hands clenched into fists, and then she was enveloped in an even deeper chill.
Could it really be possible?
Is this person really capable of handling even the police in Xia Country?
"Young master," the driver suddenly spoke, glancing at the rearview mirror, "that blue sports car behind us should be the one that called the police. It's been following us since earlier, and it's still following us."
He raised his chin, indicating the view in the rearview mirror.
Behind the police car with its flashing lights, a bright blue Aston Martin followed at a distance, moving at a moderate pace.
"Write down the license plate number and have them check it," Trish said casually, without even looking back.
The driver gripped the steering wheel, weaving through traffic while squinting through the gaps between police cars to try and make out the license plate of the sports car behind him.
Then they read out the license plate number clearly, digit by digit.
Another man had already dialed the number, given the license plate number to the person on the other end of the line, and whispered something to them.
"Waaaaah!"
Just then, the sirens of the police cars behind them went off, turning from short whistles into long, continuous wail.
At the same time, the loudspeaker of the police car behind changed its message; the tone was no longer that of a traffic police officer warning, but a more stern warning.
"Stop immediately! You are suspected of committing a serious violent crime! Pull over for inspection!"
Before he could finish speaking, two more cars rushed out from the fork in the road on the right.
A police SUV and a black SWAT vehicle merged into the main road, both sirens blaring.
In an instant, three police cars and a patrol car closely followed behind and alongside the Mercedes.
The sirens blared in layers, making the car windows tremble slightly.
Not long after, at the traffic light intersection 200 meters ahead, two patrol cars were parked sideways in the middle of the road, and roadblocks were set up on the road.
The traffic cones completely blocked the road.
Warning lights flashed incessantly, and several police officers stood behind the roadblock waving traffic batons. The officer at the front was extending his right hand straight out, palm facing forward, making the standard gesture to ask the driver to stop.
"Young Master..." the driver's voice was hesitant.
There were roadblocks in front, pursuers behind, and police cars and motorcycles on both sides.
Should we just charge through their lines?
The driver had no idea what to expect.
Those roadblocks may look flimsy, but if you actually crash into one, the front of your car will definitely be crushed, and you'll be thrown off balance, unable to escape.
Being forced to stop is even more troublesome. Once the car door is opened, there are police everywhere outside. Where can you hide?
and……
He gripped the steering wheel, his palms damp with sweat.
He's just a driver! He didn't rob a bank! Why make such a big fuss?!
Oh, right, it seems they just tied someone up in the street.
That's alright then...
...Nothing's wrong, my foot!
Will the police now mistake them for kidnappers?!
The driver felt his heart pounding faster in his chest than when he first confessed his feelings to the girl he liked. He gripped the steering wheel, and an urge to cry welled up in his nose.
Trish saw the roadblock ahead and the flashing police lights on both sides.
He turned his head and his gaze fell on Lin Yutang in the back seat.
She huddled between the two men, her face pale and her lips tightly pressed together, but the faint light in her eyes hadn't been completely hidden.
Trish looked at her, a slow, cold, and meaningful smile creeping onto his lips.
"Lin Yutang, do you think you can run away?"
Lin Yutang did not answer.
"Remember this," Trish said, turning her gaze back to the front of her eyes, her voice calm and clear, each word distinct, "all this trouble is your doing, and I'll remember it all."
A cold glint flashed in his eyes, and he stopped looking at her.
"Drive there," he instructed the driver.
His tone was calm and casual.
Lin Yutang closed her eyes.
The sirens were still blaring, deafeningly loud.
Upon hearing Trish's words, "Drive over there," the driver felt a chill run down his spine.
He gritted his teeth and slammed his right foot down on the accelerator.
Without slowing down, the black Mercedes sped straight toward the police officers standing behind the roadblock at the intersection.
The whistles blared instantly.
Several officers blew their whistles sharply as a warning, but seeing that the Mercedes not only did not slow down but was also accelerating, the young officers finally lost their composure.
"Get out of the way!"
An older traffic cop shouted and grabbed the young officer who was standing in the middle of the road and reacted a beat too slowly, pulling him and his arm sharply toward the side of the road.
Several traffic police officers nearby also ran to both sides at the same time, their steps hurried, their police hats askew.
"Bang—crash!"
With a few muffled thuds, the Mercedes' front bumper smashed through several traffic cones placed in the middle of the road, causing the car to lurch and squeeze through the gap in the roadblocks.
The tires screeched as they rubbed against the ground, continuing to hurtle along the road ahead.
