She stared intently at Su Mu, shaking her head violently. It wasn't a rejection of "don't come any closer," but a desperate plea for help.

Su Mu's brows were furrowed so deeply they could trap a fly.

He only glanced at it, but he could roughly guess what had happened.

In the apocalypse, he had seen far too many depictions of this ugliness of human nature.

But when this scene actually appeared before my eyes, the impact was far stronger than any words could describe.

He didn't speak, shifting his gaze from the woman to quickly scanning every corner of the room.

Just then, a noise suddenly came from the side.

A figure darted out from the shadows behind the table, stumbling and rushing toward the door in a panic.

Su Mu instantly turned his gun around.

It was a tall white man, but he was hunched over, his eyes were unfocused, and he kept muttering something.

He was dressed in rags, with burn marks on his face and hands, and large patches of his hair were singed. He looked completely insane.

Ever since Lin Yuwei mentioned that this world seemed capable of translating other languages, Su Mu could tell that she was speaking a foreign language. However, the system's built-in translation function converted those ambiguous words into meanings he could understand...

"Ghosts...ghosts...they're here...they're outside...no, don't come any closer..."

He kept repeating those words like a madman.

Su Mu shifted his gaze from the madman and glanced at the woman on the table.

Her eyes changed the moment she saw the madman... emptiness was replaced by hatred, as if she wanted to devour him alive.

Su Mu withdrew his gaze and pointed his gun at the madman.

However, the moment the gun was pointed at the other party, a faint sense of danger suddenly rose from the bottom of my heart.

It didn't come from this madman.

It came from elsewhere.

Su Mu's brain made a decision in a fraction of a second. Without hesitation, he leaned forward abruptly, summoning his spear from thin air...

"Thrust".

The skill was activated. His body vanished from its original spot instantly, propelled by the spear, and reappeared in front of the madman in the next second. The spear tip rose from below, precisely piercing the madman's jaw and penetrating his skull.

The madman's body was thrown into the air, and he died before he even hit the ground.

And almost at the same instant...

"Bang!"

A gunshot rang out from the other side of the room.

The bullet flew past the spot where Su Mu had just been standing, hitting the door frame and scattering wood chips everywhere.

Su Mu didn't even turn around. The moment the shot rang out, he had already drawn his M500 from his chest holster, turning the muzzle towards the direction from which the bullet had come...

In the corner, behind a pile of clutter, another white man stood holding a pistol, his face filled with disbelief. He clearly hadn't expected Su Mu to dodge the bullets; the speed just now was practically teleportation.

But his surprise lasted less than half a second.

"biu, biu, biu..."

The silencer reduced the gunshots to an extremely low level, with the seven soft screechs almost coming together in one continuous burst.

All seven bullets hit his head.

The white man had three bloody holes in his forehead, his eyes were wide open, his body stiffened for a moment, and then he fell straight down, still clutching the gun tightly in his hand.

[Slayed a level 2 human.]

Su Mu did not let his guard down.

He maintained his shooting posture, the muzzle slowly sweeping across every corner of the room... the ceiling, the windows, behind the doors, under the table.

After confirming there were no other threats, he slowly lowered his gun and walked up to the bound woman.

The woman stared intently at the two corpses on the ground, her eyes filled with such intense hatred that they seemed to overflow.

But when her gaze fell on Su Mu's face, her expression softened considerably, as if something she had been holding back with gritted teeth had finally loosened.

Su Mu didn't say anything. He picked up a scattered coat from the ground, casually tossed it over her, and covered her with it, concealing the shocking wounds.

Then he reached out and pulled the object out of her mouth.

The woman's lips trembled; they were chapped and chapped, with blood crusts on them, and the corners of her mouth were swollen and red. She opened her mouth, uttering a hoarse, almost inaudible sound:

"They... are beasts."

The voice wasn't loud, but every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth, carrying a deep-seated hatred.

Su Mu didn't reply. While scanning his surroundings with the muzzle of his gun, he asked, "What happened?"

The woman took a few deep breaths, as if suppressing her surging emotions, and then began to speak intermittently.

"We... are a small team. Five people, all gifted individuals. Yesterday afternoon, we encountered this group of foreigners near the evacuation point..."

She paused, her voice trembling.

"They killed my teammates. The men, all of them. The women... I'm the only one left."

Su Mu remained silent.

"They tied me up here... to lure away the monsters." The woman's voice trailed off, as if she were talking about something unrelated to herself. "They said this place is an armory, full of equipment, but guarded by monsters. They're afraid to go in and want me as bait..."

She looked up at Su Mu, her eyes red but without tears.

"Then... last night, a bomb suddenly fell from the sky. It wasn't dropped by them, it just fell from the sky. It blew up the entire ammunition depot, killing many monsters, and also several of their people."

Su Mu's brow twitched slightly.

The bomb that fell from the sky... it was a liquefied gas cylinder he threw.

"The explosion lasted a long time, there was fire and smoke everywhere," the woman continued. "They were forced to run inside, into the buildings that hadn't been hit. It was too dark last night, they couldn't see anything, so they spent the night here."

Su Mu frowned.

Spending the night? In this building?

"You mean, they've been here all night?" he asked.

The woman nodded.

"Is there... anything outside?" Su Mu asked again.

A flicker of fear crossed the woman's eyes, but it was quickly suppressed by hatred: "They sent a few men out to check, and then they never came back. They said there was... something outside. I was too scared to go out and see; I didn't know what it was."

Su Mu was silent for a moment, then asked, "How many of them are there?"

"Five," the woman said. "There were five when I was brought here last night. You killed two of them, and the other three... never came back after they went out last night."
