[Weather on January 9, 2026: Cloudy]
It was my second day in this world. Driven by hunger, I had to venture out to scavenge for supplies. I had seen those terrifying monsters. But I knew that if I stayed inside any longer, I would die sooner or later.
[I was lucky; I found some wild fruit and didn't encounter any monsters.]
Just a few lines.
But Su Mu's pupils suddenly contracted.
Judging from the first sentence, "the second day after arriving in this world," this person... like them, was transported here.
He had previously thought that this monster might have been an original inhabitant of this world. But now it seems that this is not the case at all.
Some people entered the game earlier than them.
Then he died here.
Beside her, Lin Yuwei also realized this. She didn't speak, but instead gestured something in her palm.
After a few seconds, she suddenly spoke up: "Have you noticed that these words... are not Earth's writing system?"
Su Mu was taken aback and looked at the writing again.
Upon closer inspection, something was definitely wrong.
The strokes and structure of these characters were unlike any other writing system he knew. But strangely, he could understand them. And subconsciously, he identified them as Chinese characters.
Lin Yuwei said, "This may be the rule of this world. As long as it is written by intelligent beings, the rule will automatically translate it."
She paused, her voice becoming serious: "But this proves one thing... other civilizations had been here before we arrived."
Su Mu nodded.
This conjecture is reasonable.
The two continued reading.
Day 3
My stomach was growling so badly that I decided to head to the town to search.
[What a bad day! I encountered one of those green monsters wielding clubs in town. I witnessed them kidnap someone, then smash their head open like an animal and carry them away like dried meat.]
They were too strong; I was no match for them. Thankfully, they didn't spot me, so I hid there for several hours before daring to come out.
Perhaps it was my destiny to survive, for I found some supplies on the road. It seemed to be what the person who was carried away earlier had found.
In the next dozen or so entries, the diarist gradually figured out how to survive in the apocalypse.
He encountered all sorts of monsters... some were like giant crawlers whose tongues could stick out several meters; some were like humanoid figures wrapped in bandages, exuding a rotten smell as they walked; and there was a monster that could crawl freely on walls, with degenerated eyes, hunting by sound.
The diary didn't mention the names of these monsters, only their brief descriptions.
But the more Su Mu and Lin Yuwei looked, the more alarmed they became.
These descriptions are so similar to some of the things they already know...
The Licker, the Tyrant, the Nurse of Silent Hill...
One article even mentioned "giant tentacles" and "an existence that cannot be looked at directly".
The last one.
Day 22
I've discovered a hidden place. It's tucked beneath an abandoned church, the entrance very well concealed. I don't know what's inside, but I know that if things continue like this, I'll eventually die in the mouth of some monster.
I've organized the equipment I've acquired recently and decided to explore tomorrow.
If I succeed, perhaps I can escape this kind of life.
If we fail... then so be it.
This concludes my diary entry.
The rest is blank.
Su Mu closed his notebook and remained silent for a long time.
This person survived for 22 days in the apocalypse.
For an ordinary person with average talent and little wilderness survival experience, this was already the limit. But in the end, he still died in that secret realm.
This is probably the daily life of a normal person in this world.
Struggling to survive, then heading towards death.
Beside her, Lin Yuwei remained silent.
After a long pause, she finally spoke, her voice low: "Have you noticed that the monsters he described all match up with characters from games and movies on Earth?"
Su Mu nodded.
Goblins, minotaurs, zombies, lickers, tyrants, Silent Hill nurses, Cthulhu...
One or two could be a coincidence, but so many can't be.
Lin Yuwei added, "If what he said is true, the monsters during the day are still traceable and can be defeated. But those at night..."
She didn't continue.
Su Mu understood what she meant.
The eerie bats of the night, the enormous silhouettes that appear and disappear in the eerie fog, and those incomprehensible phenomena... they seem more like rules than things that can be measured by force.
"But at least we're different from them," Su Mu said. "We have cable cars."
Lin Yuwei glanced at him and nodded.
The diary holder's description did not mention the cable car, suggesting that they were indeed different individuals.
But you could tell from her expression that this matter weighed heavily on her mind.
Su Mu didn't say anything more.
This world is too cruel. But that's precisely why we must seize every minute and second to improve ourselves.
He has cheat codes, a golden touch, and opportunities that others don't have.
If even he has no hope for the future, then we might as well just reopen it.
......
After reading the diary, Lin Yuwei didn't say anything more and silently moved the stool back to its original position.
Su Mu didn't disturb her and opened the chat channel on his own.
The number of people in the upper right corner of the channel has plummeted from 892 this morning to 751.
In just half a day, nearly 150 people died.
However, it is clear that the number of people has begun to stabilize.
Yesterday, many people were still observing and didn't go down to search for supplies. But today, most people... you could say everyone... will choose to land.
Even if you team up, even if you only venture into the wild, the dangers of this world will not be reduced.
The transaction information in the channel is refreshed very quickly.
Some people were selling iron ingots, some were looking to buy food, some were sharing their experiences, and some were sending out distress signals.
Su Mu looked through the list one by one, but couldn't find what he needed.
Just as I was about to close it, a private message popped up.
Sender: Zhou Zhenguo.
[Brother, sorry, I didn't see the message before. Are you going to trade a Silence Barrier Charm with me? And which class skill book are you exchanging it for?]
Su Mu raised an eyebrow slightly as he read the message.
Zhou Zhenguo, the veteran who organized everyone's landing on the channel.
He had indeed asked the other party if they had a silencing talisman before, but the other party did not reply at the time. He did not expect the other party to take the initiative to contact him now.
However... the other party clearly misunderstood, thinking that he wanted to exchange it for the blue professional skill book.
Su Mu thought for a moment and replied:
"That skill book has already been traded to someone else. However, I still really want the Silence Barrier Charm. I can exchange it for other resources, what do you think?"
