He turned his gaze away from the panel and looked at the bat that had flown away.

His attention was drawn to a Level 5 giant who was crouching on a bombed-out street, clutching a steel bar and banging it aimlessly on the ground.

Several bats were the first to approach it.

One of them swooped down from the giant's side, its sharp teeth biting into the back of the giant's neck, tearing off a small piece of flesh. Dark green blood seeped from the wound, and the giant's body jerked violently, slapping the back of its own neck with its hand.

The bat was hit, but its body only swayed, losing about one-fifth of its health, before it flapped its wings and flew away again.

Su Mu was stunned for a moment, he was surprised that he was not instantly killed by the attack of the level 5 giant.

This isn't right.

He then discovered that each attack from the giant only reduced his health by about one-fifth, and even more strangely, his health did not decrease at all when he was hit a second time.

He was puzzled. But then his pupils suddenly contracted. Wasn't this the effect of a building shield: if the maximum damage received in a single instance does not exceed 20%, and if the damage received exceeds 20%, an immunity shield is gained, which can stack up to six times within five minutes.

Shouldn't this bat be considered a summoned creature?

He quickly figured out the key point.

The bats' attacks are classified as "attacks from summoned creatures," and since the portal was installed on the cable car, the bats it summons are also an extension of the cable car's "structure"... The structure shield talent is effective against them.

Bats also receive a shield damage reduction effect when attacked, just like the cable car itself.

"This is outrageous! Is this the power of rules?"

What surprised him even more was that the bat's attack triggered multiple talent effects.

Weakness targeting allows them to bite precisely at the giant's vital points... the back of the neck, the eyes, the joint gaps. Even when they cannot be commanded, they will still attack the weak points.

The extra attack causes each bite to have two damage hits, making each bite feel like two separate bites.

The bouncing combo causes the attack to bounce off the giant's body, jumping from one wound to another, spreading the damage to different parts of the body.

The afterimage combo left blurry afterimages behind the bat, and those afterimages also tore at the giant, as if the attack frequency had doubled out of thin air.

Area awareness is constantly being triggered... Whenever a bat flies to a new area, Su Mu receives a notification that his shield value is increasing, and those shields are being continuously replenished to him.

More and more bats gathered around the giant.

The giant waved his arms wildly, as if swatting a swarm of annoying flies.

Each slap could send several bats flying, but those bats only lost some blood and weren't instantly killed.

The building's shield ability protects them...

The maximum damage per hit cannot exceed 20% of the target's health. Any damage exceeding this amount will be converted into a shield, which can be stacked up to six times within five minutes.

As the giant attacks repeatedly, the shields stack up one after another, and each bat that is knocked away actually makes it harder to kill.

Su Mu watched as countless gray-black dots on the minimap flew out of the cable car and converged toward the giant, as if drawn by some invisible force.

Some bats flew towards the nearby zombies, some towards the mutated wild dogs on the street corner, and some towards the monster's lair further away... They were actively searching for targets, without him needing to give orders.

A few minutes later, the giant finally couldn't hold on any longer.

Hundreds of bats swarmed at the same time, almost covering its entire upper body.

The sounds of sharp teeth tearing, wings flapping, and the giant's muffled roars mingled in the air. Dark green blood gushed from countless wounds. The giant's massive body swayed, then he knelt down and finally crashed heavily to the ground, raising dust that obscured half the street.

Su Mu was slightly surprised as he watched the giant fall.

A level 5 giant only consumed about fifty bats, while a portal can generate sixty bats per minute. This means that given enough time to accumulate a large number, he could use this bat army to whittle down monsters that are beyond his current level.

But he soon discovered the problem.

Once those bats fly away, they don't come back. They roam and hunt outside until they are killed or retrieved by him. Moreover, he cannot control them; he cannot make them attack designated targets, nor can he stop them.

If he wants to accumulate bats to attack a high-value target, he must set up an enclosed space near the exit of the portal to trap the bats, and release them all at once when there are enough of them.

An idea quickly flashed through Su Mu's mind.

He opened the building interface and brought up the blueprints for the wooden planks... sturdy wooden flooring.

Plank, each consumes two pieces of wood.

But he has a talent for mass production... He gets a thousand free construction opportunities every day, which can be triggered if the total value of the materials is less than one Mystic Stone.

While building the wooden houses, there's no need to worry about the planks being attacked, as the Building Shield talent also applies to these structures attached to the cable cars.

Su Mu first cleared a small area on top of the cable car, built a square wooden house with only one exit, and then put the teleportation portal inside.

Bats emerged from the whirlpool and fluttered around the wooden cabin, gradually crowding together. In less than five minutes, the cabin was packed with nearly two hundred bats. The door creaked as they jostled against it, and Su Mu went over and opened it.

The bats swarmed out like a disturbed horde of wasps, forming a dark gray curtain that blotted out the sky, before pouncing on a mutated wild dog that was wandering in the distance.

Su Mu watched them pounce on their target, a slight smile playing on his lips.

He closed the door again and started accumulating the next batch. But he soon realized a problem...

The space in the cabin is fixed; once it's full, the door has to be opened to let people out, otherwise the bats will be crushed to death.

If he could build a larger cage, or construct a long tunnel, allowing the bats to line up inside and then release them all at once, he could control the number released during battles based on actual needs, instead of simply leaving them to their fate as they are now.
