She held a red staff at her hand, topped with a fist-sized, ever-burning flame. With each flicker of the flame, the temperature in the air rose by one degree.

The two monsters stood side by side at the edge of the clearing, looking at the human army before them. It wasn't scrutiny, nor was it a wide-ranging observation; rather, it was a more subtle expression, as if they were watching a performance that had nothing to do with them.

The Ice Witch's lips curled up slightly, the curve so small it was almost imperceptible, but someone noticed it.

The Fire Witch's lips parted even wider, as if she were smiling, or perhaps anticipating something.

Someone attempted to probe it.

The detector was raised, the button was pressed, the screen flashed, and then went black.

It's not that there's no power; something's interfering. The perception-type evolver closed their eyes, veins bulging on their forehead, then opened them, their face deathly pale, and shook their head. "I can't see anything. I can't see the level, I can't see the rank, I can't see anything at all."

But everyone knows... it must be at least level 10, at least purple quality. Maybe even higher.

The Ice Witch raised her hand.

Her hands were as slender as ice sculptures, her fingertips translucent, revealing the bones beneath. She drew a circle in the air with her fingers, a movement as graceful as a young girl practicing calligraphy. Then, snowflakes began to fall.

This is not ordinary snow.

The snowflakes were not the usual hexagonal shapes, but rather more complex shapes, like some kind of ancient runes.

The snowflakes weren't white; they were ice blue, translucent, each one resembling a meticulously cut sapphire.

They drifted down from the darkness, silently, landing on the fire and extinguishing it; landing on the tree trunk and freezing it; landing on people and freezing them to death.

A guild's shield warrior held up his shield, snowflakes fell on it, and within seconds the shield's surface was covered with a thin layer of ice.

The thin ice grew thicker and heavier, freezing the shield warrior's arm to the shield.

He tried to shake off the shield, but his fingers were numb.

Snowflakes fell on his shoulders, freezing them; they fell on his arms, freezing them; they fell on his face, turning his skin bluish-purple within seconds.

His mouth opened as if to shout, but his throat was frozen and he couldn't make a sound.

In less than ten seconds, hundreds of people were frozen into ice sculptures by the ice crystals. Their bodies remained in the positions they were in before they died... some were holding weapons, some had their mouths open, some were running around... but their skin was bluish-purple, their eyes were cloudy, and their lips were black.

The beam of the flashlight shone on them, and the ice crystals reflected a pale white light, like dozens of ghost lamps in the human world.

The Fire Witch also raised her hand.

Her hands were thicker than the Ice Witch's, with shorter fingers, but they had a stronger feel to them.

Her fingernails were dark red, like iron that had been burned. She drew a circle in the air with her fingers, the movement less elegant than that of the Ice Witch, more rough, more like she was doing a physical task that she had done countless times and knew better than anything else.

Then, meteorites fell from the sky.

It wasn't a real meteorite, but a fist-sized, burning rock.

The surface of the stone was covered with dark red flames, which flickered and whistled in the night wind.

They fell from the darkness, crashing down like a torrential rain. When they hit the ground, they blasted craters into the earth; when they hit cars, they smashed through the roofs; when they hit people, they turned them into mincemeat.

A female archer from a guild was drawing her bow when a meteorite struck her shoulder, shattering it, breaking her collarbone, fracturing her shoulder blade, and tearing her arm off her body.

Her scream lasted less than half a second, as a second meteorite struck her on the head. Her skull exploded like a watermelon smashed by a hammer, splattering brain matter and blood onto the faces of those nearby.

In less than ten seconds, hundreds of people were smashed into mincemeat by the meteorite.

Their bodies lay scattered on the ground, some still recognizable as human, others reduced to unrecognizable piles of minced flesh. Blood and bits of flesh mingled with fallen leaves and soil, charred by the meteorite's flames, emitting a nauseating stench.

The camp's defenses were torn apart in less than a minute.

Soldiers ran out from behind cover, not to escape, but to find new cover; survivors rose from beside the fires, not to fight, but to find places to hide. Guild leaders shouted, yelled, cursed, and gave orders, but their voices were like mosquitoes buzzing amidst the roar of ice crystals and meteors.

Everyone knew that the defenses couldn't hold.

It wasn't that the military's defenses weren't strong enough, or that the evolved beings weren't strong enough; it was that the attack range of these two monsters was too large, their attack frequency was too fast, and their attack damage was too high.

The people on the defensive line were cut down like wheat, one wave falling, the next wave taking their place, then falling again, then taking their place again. But the number of people was finite, while the ice crystals and meteorites were infinite.

Proshu stood on the south side of the defensive line, his wings folded, and golden light blades slowly condensed and dissipated in his palm, repeating this several times.

He gazed at the two witches in the distance... Icy blue ice crystals danced in the air, and fiery red meteorites fell from the night sky. His gaze moved back and forth amidst the interplay of ice and fire.

A hint of disdain lingered at the corner of his mouth.

These two things look similar to Frost Krah and Thunder Goblin.

No, they might be even weaker... Frost Krah's ice spikes can freeze most of the camp, and Lightning Goblin's lightning can cover the entire area, while these two witches have only killed a few hundred people so far.

Several hundred people sounds like a lot, but for a battle of extraordinary magnitude, it's far too inefficient. He thought those two witches were just intimidating to look at, and their actual combat power was nothing special.

"The military's defenses are a huge hindrance."

He spoke, his voice not loud, but loud enough for those around him to hear.

His tone carried a contemptuous air, as if to say, "If I were in charge, I would have solved it long ago."

"If I were to deal with those two, there would be no need for so many people to die here."

No one around him spoke, but someone glanced at him with a subtle look in their eyes that seemed to say, "Then why don't you go for it?"

Prosciutto did not notice those gazes, or rather, he did notice them but did not care.

He spread his wings, his pure white feathers gleaming with a holy and undeniable radiance in the moonlight and firelight, and his body rose from the ground into the air. "I'll go take care of them."
