A few meters away in the open space in front of her, Su Mu sheathed his spear. He glanced at Bai Liuxi, then at the burly man and the lean man behind her, shrugged, and spoke.

"I told you, I meant no harm," he repeated. "I'm a survivor from the cable car. I'm here looking for someone."

Bai Liuxi's eyebrows twitched slightly.

"Survivors?" Her voice wasn't loud, but it was clear, like the sound of ice hitting a glass. "Survivors couldn't possibly have such strong combat power."

Su Mu did not refute.

Bai Liuxi's gaze swept over him, then she tilted her head and said to the burly man behind her, "Old Wei, let's do a test."

The burly man nodded and pulled a palm-sized device from his tactical pouch. It resembled an old-fashioned cell phone, but with a larger screen, a protruding lens on the back, and fine, flowing patterns on its surface. He held the device up, aimed it at Su Mu, and pressed the start button.

The instrument emitted a soft "beep" sound.

The burly man looked down at the screen, his expression shifting from calm to surprise, then to disbelief. He looked up at Su Mu, then back down at the screen, his Adam's apple bobbing.

"What?" Bai Liuxi asked.

The burly man handed the instrument to Bai Liuxi, his voice a little dry: "Take a look for yourself."

Bai Liuxi took the instrument and glanced at the screen.

Su Mu's information popped up on the screen:

[Identification ID: Not Registered]

Name: Su Mu

[Source: Cable No. 886]

[Level: Lv6]

【Class: Gunner (Purple)】

Combat strength assessment: ■■■......414......

Bai Liuxi's pupils contracted slightly.

414. And it was someone who came down from the cable.

Is there something wrong with the instrument?

This was unprecedented for this instrument. It came from the Seventh World and was one of the most advanced detection devices their "Great Wind" organization could acquire, capable of detecting the combat stats of any creature up to level ten. Her own combat strength assessment was displayed as 347 points on this instrument.

And this person is so much taller than me.

It wasn't about combat skills or experience; it was pure, overwhelming power.

But although she was at a disadvantage in her fight with him, the difference wasn't that significant. This means that he wasn't using his full strength at all... He was just testing her, adapting to her fighting rhythm, and looking for her weaknesses.

Bai Liuxi raised her head and looked at Su Mu, her eyes filled with something indescribable.

"You really came down from the cable car?" Her tone was still cold, but there was a hint of softening in it.

Su Mu nodded.

Bai Liuxi remained silent for a moment, then handed the equipment to the burly man and released her hand from her waist. She straightened up, patted the dust off her combat uniform; the bloodstains were still seeping out, but she didn't even glance at them.

"Military special forces, codename 'Black Kill'." Her voice returned to its usual calm, as if she were giving a routine self-introduction. "I am the captain, Bai Liuxi."

Su Mu raised an eyebrow slightly. The military special squad was not a survivor, nor was it a lone soldier; it was a genuine, fully-organized military unit.

"When I passed by here," Su Mu pointed in the direction of the street, "I saw a lot of military uniformed corpses. Five people per squad, at least six squads, all died outside this area."

Bai Liuxi's expression remained unchanged, but the faces of the burly man and the lean man behind her visibly darkened.

"That was the previous batch." Bai Liuxi's voice was unusually calm. "About two weeks ago, the military set up a temporary outpost in this area to try and clear out the high-level monsters in the Dark Zone. They sent six squads to be stationed there, responsible for the outer perimeter clearing. And then..."

She paused.

"And then that was it. Six teams, thirty men, not one returned. They didn't even send out a distress signal."

Su Mu frowned.

"We're here to investigate," Bai Liuxi said. "To find out why those six teams were wiped out, and if possible, to eliminate what caused their demise."

Su Mu was silent for a moment, then asked, "Have you ever encountered a type of mental attack that can simulate sounds and images to create hallucinations?"

Bai Liuxi glanced at him: "You've encountered this before?"

"I've encountered it before." Su Mu briefly recounted his experience of meeting the zombie commander in front of the cake shop.

After listening, Bai Liuxi nodded slightly and then looked at the lean man.

The lean man finally straightened up from the GG sign pillar. He walked to Bai Liuxi's side, his cold eyes sweeping over Su Mu before he spoke, his voice younger than he had expected: "That kind of thing isn't the main force. The squad sent to clear out the perimeter won't be wiped out by it."

Su Mu looked at him, waiting for him to continue.

"Something capable of wiping out six squads," the lean man said, "is at least level ten or higher. Green. Maybe even higher."

Su Mu's brow twitched slightly.

Level 10 or above. Green. Perfectly matches the elite monsters he needs to deal with.

"Your target," Su Mu asked, "is it a level 10 green monster?"

The lean man glanced at Bai Liuxi. Bai Liuxi nodded.

"We can't be completely sure yet," Bai Liuxi said, "but the clues we've followed all point to the same coordinates."

She pulled a palm-sized display from her pocket, tapped a few times, and brought up a map. The map was marked with a dozen or so red dots, scattered throughout the dark area. At the intersection of all the red dots was a larger, constantly flashing red marker.

That marker almost completely overlapped with the coordinates of the elite monsters on Su Mu's system map.

Su Mu stared at the mark for a few seconds, then looked up at Bai Liuxi.

"You can't beat it," he said, not as a question, but as a statement.

Bai Liuxi did not deny it. Her expression remained unchanged, but her silence spoke for itself. The burly man behind her tightened his grip on the shield, and the lean man's eyes darkened.

Su Mu had no idea what they were thinking. He had seen six elite squads, thirty men in total, all wiped out. The number of bullets was clearly more than that, and these three hadn't come here to investigate just to die, had they?
