The burly man didn't look at the Licker that had been knocked away. He turned around, stretched out his right hand, and the battle axe that had flown away was back in his hand without him noticing... Su Mu didn't see how he caught it, he only knew that the axe seemed to come alive in his hand, and he swung it diagonally upwards.
The axe blade cut into the jaw of the licker on the right and came out from the top of its head.
The Licker's body froze in mid-air for a moment, then slumped limply onto the axe as if all its strength had been drained. The burly man swung the axe, sending the corpse flying. It crashed onto the ground, sliding several meters and leaving a long trail of blood.
The whole process took less than five seconds.
Two lickers, one was half-dead from being hit, the other was killed by an axe.
The burly man stood still, his breathing steady, not even breaking a sweat. He glanced down at the claw marks on the shield, wiped them away with his hand, then looked up at the person leaning against the GG sign pillar.
Su Mu's gaze shifted over there.
He was a lean, slender man wearing a dark long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing his well-defined forearms. A narrow-bladed Tang sword hung at his waist, its scabbard black and undecorated, as plain as a piece of iron.
His face was expressionless, even somewhat listless. That expression wasn't feigned... he genuinely found the scene before him uninteresting. His eyes were half-open, half-closed, as if he were dozing, or perhaps glancing around out of the corner of his eye.
Su Mu noticed a detail... the lean man's position wasn't random. He was leaning against the GG sign pillar, but from this position, he could see in three directions simultaneously: the direction the street was coming from, the windows of the buildings on both sides, and the blind spot behind the burly man. No matter which direction the danger came from, he could react immediately.
He didn't need to intervene. Not because he couldn't fight, but because the burly man alone was enough. His presence itself was a safety net... he would only act if something happened to the burly man.
Su Mu frowned slightly.
This squad was far stronger than any of the military squads he had encountered before.
That burly man's strength attribute was at least two hundred points, possibly even close to three hundred. His fighting style was simple and brutal... no dodging, no evasion, just head-on attacks, crushing his opponent with absolute power. That kind of fighting style couldn't be supported by equipment, but by the sheer strength of his body.
As for that lean man... Su Mu couldn't fathom his true nature. But he knew that someone who could find the fight between two Lickers boring was either foolishly arrogant or so strong as to be completely indifferent. Judging from his position and nonchalant demeanor, the latter was more likely.
The military has such a powerful figure.
Su Mu recalled the military corpses he had seen on the road earlier... more than thirty bodies, five men per squad, at least six squads wiped out. If those squads all possessed this level of combat capability, then what could have killed them...?
He didn't think any further.
Just then, the communicator vibrated.
Su Mu looked down. Lin Yuwei's message contained only two words:
"careful."
Su Mu's pupils suddenly contracted.
His body reacted before his brain... not by stepping back, not by dodging to the side, but by falling headfirst to the ground.
A gust of wind swept past his head.
A sharp, piercing sound, like some kind of weapon cutting through the air, was less than ten centimeters from his scalp. If he hadn't fallen, that sound would have sliced through his neck.
Su Mu rolled on the ground, knelt on one knee, and summoned his spear from the void, holding it horizontally in front of him.
Where he had just stood, a slender figure was slowly retracting her leg.
woman.
She wore a dark, tight-fitting combat suit that accentuated her long, powerful physique. Her long hair was tied in a neat ponytail, revealing her fair neck and well-defined jawline. Her features were exquisitely cold, with sharply defined eyebrows, slightly upturned eyes, and extremely pale pupils, as if their color had been washed away by something.
She stood at the boundary between moonlight and shadow, half her face illuminated by the light, the other half hidden in darkness. Her light-colored eyes stared at Su Mu, devoid of any emotional fluctuation.
Bai Liuxi.
She gave Su Mu no time to catch his breath.
Her figure vanished from the spot... not by invisibility, but by speed. So fast that his dynamic vision only caught a fleeting afterimage. The next second, she appeared to Su Mu's left, a long leg lashing out like a whip, toes pointed, accompanied by a sharp whistling sound.
Su Mu did not take the blow head-on. His dynamic vision barely caught the trajectory of the kick, and he leaned to the right, holding his spear horizontally beside him, using the shaft to cushion the force of the blow.
"Bang......!"
The sound of metal clashing was dull and sharp. Su Mu felt as if he had been hit from the side by a truck, and his whole body flew sideways, crashing into a fire hydrant on the side of the road. The iron pipe was bent, and water gushed out.
His arm was numb, and the space between his thumb and forefinger throbbed. Fortunately, the opponent's damage wasn't high enough... his armor absorbed most of the impact, and he wasn't injured.
Bai Liuxi gave him no chance to catch his breath. His body was still in the air when her second attack arrived.
This time it wasn't a leg, but a hand. Five fingers pressed together, fingertips pointing forward, like a bayonet, aimed straight at his throat.
Su Mu had no time to dodge. He could only use the momentum... He pushed off the fire hydrant and launched himself in the opposite direction, while simultaneously bracing his spear against the ground to change his landing point.
Bai Liuxi's fingertips brushed against his neck, leaving a faint red mark on his skin.
Su Mu landed, staggered a step, and barely managed to steady himself.
From the moment she made her move until now, less than two seconds had passed. He had already been forced back more than ten meters, backed to the other side of the street. Every time he tried to regain his footing and counterattack, her next strike followed immediately, giving him no chance to gather his strength.
She was using speed to suppress him. She wasn't giving him a chance to create distance, a chance to unleash his skills, or even a chance to think.
A sense of surprise welled up in Su Mu's heart. He had never encountered this kind of combat rhythm before.
The giants' attacks, though powerful, were slow, allowing him to easily track their movements and dodge them with ease using his dynamic vision. But the woman before him was faster... not just a little faster, but a whole level faster. His dynamic vision could barely keep up with her movements, but his body couldn't.
