The sound of rapid footsteps exploded on the street below. It wasn't just one or two people, but three or four, running frantically. The footsteps were chaotic and disorderly; some were shouting, some were cursing, and some were crying, all mixed together like a pot of boiling porridge.

Su Mu quickly walked to the window, turned sideways, and gently parted a corner of the curtain with two fingers to look downstairs.

Then his pupils suddenly contracted.

In the darkness, a huge silhouette was slowly moving.

The giant was at least twenty meters tall, with a naked upper body covered in grayish-white skin, like a human specimen magnified countless times.

Its muscles were bulging and its features were distinct. With each step it took, the entire street trembled slightly. Its head was small, disproportionate to its massive body. It had no nose or ears on its face, only deep-set eye sockets and a wide, horizontally split mouth.

Even from a height of more than ten floors, even in the darkness of night, Su Mu could feel the overwhelming sense of oppression.

In front of the giant, four figures were fleeing frantically.

They ran very fast, but speed meant nothing against giants. A giant's stride could cover tens of meters; they couldn't outrun it even if they ran their legs off. But they kept running, because stopping meant death.

Two of the four ran ahead, one to the left and one to the right, in two different directions. The other two fell behind, getting further and further away.

"Help me! Help me...!"

The person running at the very back had a distorted voice, filled with a dying, tearing despair.

But the people in front didn't turn around.

The person running on the far right even accelerated, plunging headfirst into a residential building by the roadside and disappearing into the doorway.

The giant stretched out his enormous hand.

The hand was larger than a person's body, its fingers as thick as tree trunks, its nails grayish-white with jagged edges like rusted blades. It gently grabbed... or rather, it didn't quite "grab," but rather pinched the person's waist with its thumb and forefinger like squeezing a peanut.

The man struggled desperately, his hands clawing wildly at the giant's rough skin, his nails breaking and blood seeping from his fingertips. He opened his mouth to shout, but his throat seemed to be blocked by something, and he could only let out a muffled whimper.

The giant brought him to his mouth.

The mouth, split horizontally, opened.

Instead of opening slowly, it parted like a snake, its upper and lower jaws separating at an incredible angle, revealing a dense array of jagged teeth. These teeth were not human teeth, but more like shark teeth, triangular in shape with fine serrations along the edges, gleaming a dark yellow in the darkness.

Then the giant loosened his grip, and the man fell into the giant's mouth.

"Snap...!"

The sound of the jaws closing was as heavy as two iron doors shut. The man's body was bitten in half at the waist, the upper and lower body separated in the giant's mouth, blood spurting from between the teeth, drawing a dark red arc in the darkness.

The sound of chewing came from the giant's mouth.

"Crunch... crunch... crunch..."

It sounded like someone was chewing bones; the sound was both crisp and muffled, mixed with the gurgling of liquid, echoing through the empty street.

Su Mu frowned, a chill creeping into his heart. Not from fear, but from the utterly ruthless, inhuman cruelty. In the giant's eyes, those people were no different from insects.

The person running second to last... a young man in a dark coat... heard the sound of his companion being bitten to pieces behind him, his legs went weak, and he almost fell. He didn't turn around, gritted his teeth and continued running forward, tears and snot streaming down his face, muttering something indistinctly.

The two people ahead had already rushed into different buildings. The one running on the far right plunged into a residential building across the street, while the one running on the left... the one in Su Mu's building... was rushing towards the entrance.

Behind him, the giant extended his tongue, licking the remaining blood and bits of flesh from the corner of his mouth. The tongue was at least two meters long, dark red, and covered with barbs, trembling in the air as if tasting something.

Then it moved.

Instead of chasing the person who had already run into Su Mu's building, it turned to the right and took a step toward the residential buildings.

Su Mu's gaze followed the giant's steps, and he already knew the outcome.

The giant walked to the entrance of the building and reached his enormous hand inside.

It wasn't a "push" or a "slap," but rather like inserting a hand into an anthill, the entire hand reaching into the doorway. The wall was squeezed and cracked, the door frame was stretched and deformed, and broken bricks and dust fell down from the cracks.

Then it pulled its hand out.

A person lies in the palm of my hand.

That person... the one who ran into this building just now... was still struggling, his hands gripping one of the giant's fingers tightly, his nails digging into the grayish-white skin, but he couldn't hold onto anything. His legs were kicking wildly in the air, and he was letting out a series of incoherent screams.

The giant didn't even look at him; he simply brought his hand to his mouth and tossed the man in like a bean.

"Snap...!"

Another heavy snapping sound.

This time, the man was bitten in two. His upper body was chewed up, and his lower body slid off the giant's mouth and fell to the ground with a dull thud.

Su Mu could clearly see the outline of that half of the body... Below the waist, the legs were still twitching slightly, and blood was gushing out from the broken wound, forming a small pool on the ground.

The giant's mouth was still chewing.

"Crunch... crunch... crunch..."

It was making a louder sound chewing bones than before, like it was chewing crunchy bones.

Then, the giant turned to the left.

They turned towards Su Mu's building.

Su Mu frowned.

He didn't back down or panic; he simply crouched down and pulled the curtains even tighter, leaving only a crack, to observe the movements outside.

The giant was walking towards the building. But it was moving slowly, more like it was taking a stroll than chasing prey.

No, it wasn't a walk.

Su Mu noticed the giant's head... that small head, disproportionate to its enormous size... was slowly turning, sweeping from left to right, and then from right to left. It was observing, judging, and determining which building those "little things" had run into.

During this process, Su Mu caught some movements in the distance out of the corner of his eye.

At the end of the street, about a kilometer away, another enormous silhouette was slowly moving.

more than one.

Further away, a third silhouette appeared, faintly visible in the darkness.
