Outside the school gate, the sunlight was blinding.

Su Mu rushed out of the school gate, stumbled a moment, then steadied himself. He turned around, his spear held horizontally in front of him, the tip pointing towards the school gate.

Lin Xiaohe followed closely behind, and almost fell when she rushed out of the school gate, but Su Mu grabbed her.

Behind me, the vines stopped at the school gate.

They did not chase after them.

Su Mu gasped for breath, staring at the green vines wriggling inside the school gate. They seemed hesitant, as if wary of something. A few vines tentatively stretched out of the gate, touched the sunlight outside, and then quickly retreated.

Are they afraid of light? Or is there some special barrier around the school gate?

Su Mu didn't know. He didn't want to know.

He turned around and glanced at Lin Xiaohe. Her face was pale, her hair was covered with fallen leaves and dust, and her coat was torn in several places by vines, but she was not injured.

Su Mu had only glanced at her to check on her condition, but his gaze was involuntarily drawn to her for a moment.

Her coat was ripped in several places, from the shoulders to the chest, the tattered fabric hanging on her body, revealing the pale, cold skin beneath. That skin was almost unreal, the kind of white that hadn't seen sunlight in a long time, starkly white against the backdrop of blood and dust.

The most striking feature was her chest... The tear in her coat perfectly exposed her figure, with her tight-fitting underwear creating a deep curve, indicating a bust size of at least E.

Su Mu's gaze lingered for only a moment before shifting away.

A thought popped into his mind... No wonder she was dressed so warmly.

In this weather with large temperature differences between day and night and not particularly cold during the day, she wrapped herself up like a dumpling, pulled her hat down low, and zipped her coat all the way up.

He had previously thought she was just afraid of the cold, or that she was introverted and didn't like to show her face.

In retrospect, she wasn't entirely naive.

She knew what things couldn't be discovered in the apocalypse. Beauty and figure, in some people's eyes, were more valuable than food and water.

Su Mu withdrew his gaze without saying anything. He took out a spare coat from his backpack and handed it to her.

"Put them on."

Lin Xiaohe took the clothes, glanced down at the holes in her clothes, and her face turned red to the roots of her ears.

She opened her mouth as if to say something, but in the end she only whispered "thank you," then quickly wrapped her coat around herself, zipping it all the way up to cover up everything that shouldn't be exposed.

Su Mu turned around, not watching her change her clothes. He looked up at the hazy horizon in the distance, quickly calculating his next route.

Then he said to Lin Xiaohe behind him.

"Walk."

Lin Xiaohe nodded and followed behind him.

The two walked along the street, heading away from Ash University.

Behind me, the vines twitched for a moment at the school gate before slowly retreating. The green tide receded, leaving behind a mess of debris and scorch marks.

The school gates were quiet again.

It was as if nothing had happened.

......

Since leaving Ash University, Su Mu has hardly stopped.

He walked west along the narrow streets, through seven or eight blocks, through more than a dozen alleys, and around countless corners.

Three hours, non-stop.

The buildings along the street changed from shops around the school to residential areas, then from residential areas to low-rise factories, and then from factories to ruins.

The further southwest you go, the more dilapidated the city becomes... The walls are covered with cracks and bullet holes, the windows are shattered, the roads are full of potholes and cracks, and in some places even weeds that are half a person tall have grown.

The density of monsters is much lower than on campus.

This was Su Mu's biggest takeaway from the journey.

The density of monsters on campus, where you'd encounter one every three to five steps, is completely nonexistent here. The streets are very empty; sometimes you can walk an entire alley without encountering a single monster.

The few that do appear are mostly between level one and three, level four is rare, and level five is extremely rare.

As Su Mu walked, he analyzed the reasons in his mind.

The high density of high-level monsters on campus is probably related to those vines.

The vines feed on flesh and blood, and the flesh and blood of high-level monsters contain far more energy than that of low-level monsters. The presence of the vines attracts high-level monsters from the surrounding area, forming a "high-level monster gathering area".

Outside the campus, without the "bait" of vines, the distribution of monsters returned to normal levels... Most were low-level monsters, with a few mid-level ones and very few high-level ones.

This conjecture allowed Su Mu to breathe a slight sigh of relief.

This at least shows that in most areas of Ash City, the monsters are at a level that ordinary survivors can barely handle. Otherwise, given the strength of those people in the channel, they probably wouldn't even be able to get past one block before being wiped out.

However, this does not mean that his situation is easy.

Su Mu glanced at the map, his brows furrowing slightly.

In three hours, he walked about twelve kilometers.

It's not that he walks slowly... With his current stamina and speed, he could easily cover seven or eight kilometers in an hour on flat ground. The problem is, this city doesn't allow you to walk in a straight line.

The main road is closed.

This is the experience he gained from two bloody lessons.

The first time was on the first main road after leaving the school gate. He saw a group of at least thirty zombie dogs wandering the street in the distance. Each one was at least level three, and the leader was as big as a calf and was estimated to be level six or above.

Without saying a word, he turned around and went into the alley.
