The next second, she heard a muffled gunshot.

"Bang......!"

It wasn't the rattling of a submachine gun, but the deafening roar of an AWM. She jolted her eyes open.

Su Mu stood in front of her, less than three meters away. He held an AWM in one hand, the muzzle still smoking. And that little monster... that level five green little monster... was lying on the ground ten meters away, its body twitching, dark green blood gushing from the bullet hole in its head.

It wasn't dead. Level 5 green, 110 constitution points, and according to Su Mu's calculations, it had 1100 health, though its armor was very low. Even so, an AWM couldn't kill it in one shot. But it couldn't stand up; its limbs were clawing at the ground, trying to get up.

Su Mu gave it no chance. He summoned a spear from the void and pierced its skull.

[Kill a Lv5 Green Wallbreaker Crawler (Cub), +10 Experience Points.]

Su Mu holstered his gun, stood still, and scanned his surroundings. The dormitory building walls were empty; no new monsters had appeared. Several mangled corpses lay scattered along the tree-lined path, dark red blood seeping into the soil. In the distance, the small monster wounded by the AWM was nowhere to be seen.

There are no new threats.

After confirming that there were no monsters around, Su Mu turned around, not looking at Lin Xiaohe or the corpse on the ground. He leaned against the wall, took out a bottle of mineral water from his backpack, unscrewed the cap, poured some onto his hands, and carefully washed them.

Then he took a deep breath and opened the talent selection interface.

Three gilded cards appeared before my eyes.

On the second card, that familiar flame icon reappeared... Luck.

Su Mu's lips curled up slightly.

Washing hands does have some effect after all.

The cards were flipped over one by one, and three options were clearly displayed before them.

Option 1 (Information-based): Eye of Insight. View detailed attribute information of the target (monster, human, etc.), including hidden skills, weak points, and behavioral patterns. The effect is reduced against targets 10 levels or more higher than your own. Passively activated; no active activation required.

[Option Two (Individual): Phantom Strike. Creates a phantom effect behind the user upon attack, dealing 100% damage to additional targets in the vicinity. If there is more than one target, the damage is split evenly, with a minimum reduction to 1%. If there are no additional targets, the primary target receives an additional 100% damage. Rule-based ability.]

[Option 3 (Construction): Master Craftsman. Reduces resource consumption by 10% and increases building effectiveness by 10% when constructing buildings. Does not apply to the cable car itself, only to auxiliary buildings.]

Su Mu's gaze swept back and forth between the three options as he quickly calculated in his mind.

Option one, the Eye of Insight. He definitely lacked this. When dealing with those monsters before, he could only see their basic level and attributes; he knew nothing about crucial information such as hidden skills, weak points, and behavioral patterns.

If he can acquire this talent, his judgment in battle will be much more accurate, and he will no longer be in a passive situation like "fighting for a long time only to find that the opponent has a tail-cutting escape."

Option three, Master Craftsmanship. Reduces consumption by 10% and increases effect by 10%... These two numbers don't seem outrageous on their own, but when combined, they become quite significant.

In particular, the "10% increase in effect" bonus means a 10% increase in firepower when placed on the quiver, a 10% extension in shelf life when placed on the granary, and a real benefit when placed on any building. This is a talent that becomes stronger as the game progresses.

Option 2: Afterimage Combo.

Su Mu stared at the line of text, his pupils slightly contracting.

The attack leaves a trail behind the target, dealing damage to additional targets in the vicinity. If there are no additional targets, it deals an additional 100% damage to the primary target.

This is somewhat similar to the previous "Extra Attack" talent, but also completely different. Extra Attack was a simple and straightforward double damage, while this Phantom Combo is more flexible... It becomes an area-of-effect attack when there are extra targets, and remains a single-target damage increase when there are no extra targets.

Moreover, this is a rule-based ability.

Although the description didn't explicitly mention the word "rules," the small print label "rule-based ability" was exactly the same as the talents he had chosen before. He had experienced the terror of rule-based abilities far too many times... unreasonable, brooking no argument, with a guaranteed lower limit and no upper limit.

Su Mu took a deep breath.

Option one relates to information and can compensate for weaknesses. Option three is a late-game powerhouse skill that can elevate all his buildings to a higher level. But option two... Shadow Combo, combined with his existing weakness targeting and extra attacks, what kind of chemical reaction will it create?

He thought for a moment, then pointed to option two without hesitation.

[Selection successful.]

The gilded card transformed into specks of light and merged into his body.

Su Mu closed his eyes and sensed it for a moment, but didn't feel anything special. Just like before, rule-based abilities are not noticeable in normal times; they only manifest during battle.

He opened his eyes and wiggled his fingers.

Now is not the time to test new talents.

Several monster corpses lay on the ground, the boxes uncollected, and the supplies yet to be gathered. He glanced at the time... over an hour had passed since he landed. He'd only gotten the golden treasure chest; he hadn't even truly completed his first objective.

At this rate, it's almost impossible to reach the evacuation point before dark.

Su Mu turned around and glanced at Lin Xiaohe.

She stood not far away, her hands at her sides, a submachine gun slung over her shoulder. Her face was still a little pale, but her eyes had calmed down. Seeing Su Mu looking over, she nodded slightly, without saying anything more.

"Go and collect the supplies," Su Mu said. "Bring over everything that the monsters dropped."

Lin Xiaohe nodded and turned to walk towards the nearest female monster corpse.

She moved quickly, crouching down, opening the box, stuffing its contents into her backpack, then standing up and moving on to the next corpse. She didn't glance at it twice, didn't keep anything for herself, and didn't even carefully examine what was inside the box.

Su Mu withdrew his gaze and walked towards the corpse of the blue leader.

The box was blue with dark blue stripes along the edges, gleaming slightly in the sunlight. He crouched down and opened it.

There were three things lying inside.
