He remembered that just over ten minutes ago, the number was a little over eight hundred. In other words, in just over ten minutes, nearly one hundred people had died.

Moreover, the rate of death is accelerating.

Su Mu frowned. Even his level 3 cable car was losing durability. Although it wasn't dropping very fast... it took almost twenty minutes to go from 99% to 96%... but that was still much faster than before. At this rate, if the monster density continued to increase, its durability would drop even faster.

This intensity is a bit too exaggerated.

He wasn't worried about himself. With 100 points of armor from the level 3 cable car, plus his quiver and pistol firepower, he should be able to hold out until dawn. But what about the others?

The level 1 and level 2 cable cars in the channel only have a dozen or so armor points. Faced with this density of attacks, they simply cannot hold out for long.

Su Mu glanced at the number of people again.

687.

More than twenty more died.

His brow furrowed even more. At this rate, by dawn, probably less than a tenth of the people on this cable would survive.

However, just as this thought crossed his mind...

The thick fog outside the window suddenly dissipated.

It didn't dissipate slowly, but vanished without a trace in an instant, as if someone had lifted a curtain.

Su Mu's pupils suddenly contracted.

He saw it.

Ash City.

No, not just Ash City.

He saw the entire city... The hundred-meter-high city wall gleamed with a cold, greyish-white light under the moonlight, its surface covered with countless scratches, claw marks, and signs of corrosion. Beyond the city wall lay a scene he had never seen before, a sight that sent chills down his spine.

Countless bizarre creatures.

The ground was covered with them, stretching as far as the eye could see.

There were giant crawlers, as big as small mountains, covered in black scales, whose every step made the ground tremble; and long, serpentine creatures that snaked along, their sides covered with slender tentacles that danced wildly in the air.

There were humanoid creatures engulfed in eerie blue flames, leaving charred marks on the ground where they walked; and there were things whose shapes he couldn't describe at all... like fragments cut from the corpses of different creatures and pieced together, slowly wriggling in the darkness.

The sight from the air was even more terrifying.

Nearby, countless flying monsters were divided into different camps, each occupying a section of airspace.

Su Mu saw several of them.

A foul-smelling, rotting corpse... The thing was about two meters tall, humanoid, but its skin was a rotting grayish-green, covered with pustules and festering wounds.

The most bizarre thing is its back, where a huge fan, seemingly made of bones and fascia, pierces through its shoulder blades and is deeply embedded in its flesh.

The fan slowly unfurled, its surface adorned with ancient, twisted runes that gleamed a dark red light in the moonlight. It hovered in the air, wingless; the fan served as its means of flight. Su Mu glanced at its level... Lv5, green quality.

Alien evil spirit... That thing was only the size of a fist, shaped like a drop of water suspended in mid-air, and semi-transparent, with a dark purple light slowly rotating inside.

It had no facial features, no limbs, only a round body and a pair of membranous wings like a bat. The edges of the wings were covered with fine barbs, and each flap produced a sharp hissing sound. Su Mu scouted it... Lv6, green quality.

Further away, there were things he couldn't detect at all.

A square formation consisting of dozens of paper figures.

The paper figures were about the height of a person, with bodies made of white paper and exaggerated, smiling features painted on their faces.

They have no feet; their lower bodies are thin bamboo poles, and each paper effigy carries a sedan chair in its hands. The sedan chairs are dark red, with tightly closed curtains, obscuring what is inside.

The entire group hovered in mid-air, moving forward silently, as if they had floated out directly from a funeral.

Su Mu stared at the sedan chair, a chill running down his spine. He tried to investigate, but the system only returned one line: [Target level too high, cannot be viewed.]

In another direction, a figure dressed in a Peking Opera costume floated in mid-air. The costume was bright red, embroidered with golden phoenixes and peonies, and the long skirt fluttered gently in the wind.

Its face was painted with heavy theatrical makeup, with a white face and red lips, raised eyebrows and eyes, and a smile that was not quite a smile at the corner of its mouth.

Three transparent threads hung down from the void, one connecting to the top of its head and two to its hands. The threads trembled slightly, as if manipulating an invisible puppet.

There was something else on the ground that caught Su Mu's eye a few more times.

It was a huge pot, at least tens of meters in diameter, completely black, with dark red patterns covering its surface, like a red-hot iron pot.

There was no fire under the pot, but the liquid inside was boiling, bubbling and gurgling. Each time a bubble burst, it released a plume of dark green smoke. In the center of the pot was a strange face, with a long, forked tongue lying in the middle of the face, its tip constantly licking the air, as if tasting something.

Further away, a colossal creature hundreds of meters tall was charging frantically at the city walls on all fours. Its body was covered in dark gray scales, each as large as a house.

Its head was flat, without eyes, and its mouth stretched across its entire face, densely packed with barbed, sharp teeth. It slammed into the city wall... A transparent shield appeared, deflecting its impact.

The giant object was thrown back a few steps, causing the ground to tremble violently, but it quickly regained its balance and gathered its strength again.

Su Mu understood instantly.

Those piercing beetles and fireflies were not "migrating" at all.

They are gathering towards Ash City to participate in this siege.

His cable car just happened to be on their route and suffered an undeserved disaster.

Now, as the cable car gets closer to Ash City, they are being drawn directly into the heart of this war.

What sent chills down his spine even further was that... as the cable car continued its journey, the gazes of those eerie creatures began to turn in his direction.

Not all, but a portion.

First came the stench of a decaying corpse nearby, its rotting head tilted, its empty eye sockets "looking" in his direction. Then came the alien evil spirits, those teardrop-shaped things that turned around, their internal purple light flickering erratically, as if scanning something.

Then, Su Mu saw the strange creature dressed in a Peking Opera costume.

It was originally suspended in the air, its three threads swaying gently, its pale face facing the direction of Ash City. But the moment Su Mu noticed it, it slowly turned its head.
