Police Chief's Anti-Organized Crime Storm

"What? They've sent an acting county magistrate?" Zhao Yuma's heart sank, and his face turned extremely ugly. What's going on? At a time like this, why send an acting county magistrate? Wait, could it be for her sake?

A bad premonition suddenly rose in Zhao Yuma's heart. Three consecutive county heads had run into trouble. Logically, it should be his turn soon. He had been the deputy county head for ten years. Wasn't he supposed to be promoted to the position? Damn it, who had he offended?

Just as he was lost in thought, a phone call came in. He glanced at it, quickly hung up the previous call, and pressed the answer button: "Secretary Ma."

"Yes, Yu Ma, I received a notice from the city that the Provincial Public Security Department has selected a new police chief who will take office tomorrow. Be prepared to welcome him."

"Secretary Ma, has the city issued any instructions regarding the selection of the county magistrate?" Gao Lan is dead. Good riddance! It's about time it was his turn!

"Not for now, but don't be discouraged. With County Chief Gao in trouble, the city must be swamped with work right now, so let's not add to the city leaders' burden."

"But, Secretary Ma, didn't you say..." Zhao Yuma was somewhat unwilling. He had done everything he could, and he had paid such a high price to finally get Gao Lan on his side. Now, the duck that was almost in his hands had flown away.

"Alright, Yu Ma, think long-term. There's plenty of time. Don't keep fixating on the county magistrate position. The city will handle its own arrangements. Don't do anything more, understand?"

Zhao Yuma was somewhat frustrated. He had spent nearly three million yuan in total, and he had even used those kinds of connections. Was it possible that he still couldn't get ahead?

A deep sense of powerlessness welled up inside him, as if a mountain was pressing down on his head, making him unable to lift his head. However, Ma Guoliang was, after all, the top leader, and he couldn't go too far, so he could only nod on the phone.

At this moment, the atmosphere in the office of Meng Jianguo, the director of the Dongjiang Provincial Public Security Department, was somewhat somber. This was the third time that Meng had served as the director. Gaoshan County, Gaoshan County, just how deep are the waters here?

Just then, a knocking sound rang out, one light knock followed by two heavy ones.

"Come in." Public Security Bureau Chief Meng Jianguo looked up at the door. With a creak, the door opened, and a policewoman in uniform strode in.

"Good morning, Commander. Lin Ying reporting for duty." With a snap, the policewoman gave a crisp military salute. Meng Jianguo stood up abruptly, looked at the newcomer with a look of surprise and delight, strode forward, and grabbed her hand: "Good, good, good, good, you've finally come, you've finally come, good, good, good, good!" He said "good" several times in a row.

The newcomer was dressed in a dark blue police uniform. Three plum blossoms and two straight bars on her shoulders indicated that she was a first-level police inspector. The policewoman had sharp eyebrows and bright eyes, and short hair. She looked clean and neat. She was like a sharp sword drawn from its sheath. Standing there, she made people dare not look directly at her.

Lin Ying, a senior colonel and a regimental-level officer, is the commander of a special operations brigade in a military region.

"Are you really sure you want to go to Gaoshan County?" Meng Jianguo knew how dark and polluted that place was, and he was genuinely worried, since Lin Ying had no experience in local politics.

"Reporting to the commander, I have already reviewed the relevant materials, so there is nothing to hesitate about. I guarantee to complete the task assigned by the organization."

Lin Ying stood ramrod straight, her eyes shining like two stars.

"Very good, Lin Ying, but I don't know..." Meng Jianguo hesitated. He had read Gao Lan's information and Lin Ying's information, so he had a vague guess in his heart. However, without any evidence, he could not speak recklessly.

"Please rest assured, sir. Lin Ying will absolutely not act rashly. She will definitely investigate the cases of the three county magistrates thoroughly and will never let down the organization's trust in her." Lin Ying's voice was filled with unwavering determination.

Her gaze was even more resolute than her tone. In her nearly ten years of military service, there was nothing she couldn't give up.

Whether you're a soldier or an officer, you need to have the courage to forge ahead.

"What are your thoughts on these three cases? The disappearance and death of three county magistrates indicate that things are extremely unusual in Gaoshan County. You must be careful about your safety."

"Will the city send another county magistrate down there?" Lin Ying asked directly.

"That's possible. After all, organizations have their own considerations."

"I suggest that we not send anyone until the matter is fully investigated. I can act as the county magistrate."

Lin Ying's words completely stunned Meng Jianguo. This Lin Ying was really something else; she immediately appointed him as acting county magistrate and police chief. These two positions really couldn't be held by one person.

"I need to discuss this matter with the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department, and they will also listen to Baiyun City's opinion. However, your suggestion is excellent."

"Sir, I won't be acting as county magistrate for long. I just need some administrative authority to facilitate my investigations. Once I've solved the case, I think I'll continue on the police line." She had thought long and hard about transferring to civilian life. If she couldn't achieve anything, she might as well go back home and farm.

Meng Jianguo nodded deeply, then looked at Lin Ying with a hint of appreciation: "Very good, I'll go and discuss this with the Organization Department right away. Also, do you need to bring two people with you?"

"Yes, I need a combat expert, an electronic communications specialist, and a sniper."

Meng Jianguo was startled and looked at Lin Ying. Others would just bring a secretary when they went to take up their posts, but she went and brought a sniper. He really couldn't understand why she would bring a sniper. He couldn't possibly equip the other party with a sniper rifle!

"Or, just give me a skilled marksman." Lin Ying lowered her demands.

"Lin Ying, I must remind you, the local area is not like the military; it is very dangerous for them to use guns."

"Understood, sir. I have witnessed the deaths of three county magistrates. To be honest, I believe that the criminal gangs in Gaoshan County are not only deeply entrenched, but they may have also brought in some criminal gangs from abroad. Otherwise, it would be impossible for the people in Gaoshan County alone to have such great power as to kill three county magistrates within a year."

Meng Jianguo was startled, and his expression changed as he looked at Lin Ying. It seemed that he had underestimated this former queen of special forces.

"Okay, I'll have someone send you the materials. You can choose whatever you like."

"No need, sir, I've already chosen them all. You just need to sign them." With that, Lin Ying handed over a document.

Meng Jianguo opened it with suspicion, and his eyes lit up immediately. He couldn't help but smile and look at Lin Ying with a half-smile. The latter lowered her head somewhat embarrassed, wondering if he had acted first and then beaten her.

Without saying a word, Meng Jianguo signed his name at the end of the document and handed it back: "To ensure your safety, I've had someone contact the local armed police brigade. If you encounter any difficulties, you can ask them for help at any time."

"Sir, if I may be so blunt, I believe the local armed police brigade cannot be trusted. The second county magistrate, Ji Xiaoqing, once used personnel from the armed police brigade, but in the end, she still disappeared without a trace. I believe that with the strength of the armed police detachment, it is entirely possible to protect her, so..."

Meng Jianguo's head felt like it had been hit by something, making a loud thud. He looked at Lin Ying in disbelief, his face changing drastically...
