Taoist priest goes to America
Chapter 50 Is this human?
Isya struggled desperately inside the wall. Through its vision, Ang Lee saw that its chest was covered in broken bricks and wall plaster. He saw Isya's grayish-white fingers scratch at the wall, trying to pull itself out.
However, the owner of that arm did not stop. After his fist struck Isya, it paused in mid-air to suppress its upward momentum, then opened into a claw shape and grabbed straight at Isya.
"Crack!" The man's claws gripped Isya's neck, and Isya was pulled against the wall by the immense force, knocking down a patch of plaster.
Isya's collarbone and sternum were crushed to pieces, the junction of his neck and chest was twisted and deformed, and a spurt of blood gushed out, splattering onto his face.
Then, with a pull, Isya was yanked off the wall. Its body fell forward, its knees landing on the broken bricks.
Another hand emerged from the gray fog, grabbed Isya's ankle, gripped his ankle bone, and pulled him upwards.
They lifted Isjah's entire body, flipped him over, and slammed him face up into the ground.
Ang Lee's perspective suddenly shifted to the ceiling, where light tubes bent and hung down, swaying slightly in the wind.
At that moment, a barefoot foot stepped on Isya's face, its sole filling Isya's vision.
The foot first pressed down on Isya's nose, then slowly pressed down towards his eye sockets and forehead. Through Isya's vision, Ang Lee saw that the area of the ceiling above his head was shrinking, precisely because the foot was pressing Isya's head into the ground.
The sound of skull shattering came from the other end of the mental line, crisp and loud, accompanied by the sound of liquid flowing out.
His vision went dark, and his mental energy instantly snapped. The residual mental backlash spread along his nerve endings, causing a sharp pain in Li An's forehead.
Isya is gone. A corpse servant in the process of forming, from the moment it landed to the moment it was shattered, took less than ten seconds.
Ang Lee was shocked. Was this guy really human?
Ang Lee stood outside the door, his gaze fixed on the thinning smoke in the doorway.
The smoke and dust dispersed slowly, and he could see the outlines in the room gradually becoming clearer, until he saw the figure.
A man in a black shirt, with brown eyes and several cracked sunburns on his face, stood in the bathroom doorway, one hand hanging at his side, the other clutching a piece of zombie flesh torn from Isya's neck.
The man glanced down at the ground, bent down, and picked up something from the mess—a fragment of the Isya willow doll, about the size of a thumb, curled and blackened. He held the fragment in his hand for a moment, then released it, letting it fall to the ground.
He raised his face and looked at Li An from a few meters away, his brown eyes shining in the dim light.
Ang Lee stood outside the door frame, looking at Chigurh through the thinning layer of ash on the ground.
The wind from the doorway blew in, stirring up the dust on the floor and scattering it among them.
Qiguer made the first move.
Without warning or preparation, the hand hanging by the side suddenly gripped the edge of the overturned bed frame. The bed frame was blown beyond recognition, and half of the mattress was burned away, revealing charred springs and foam debris inside.
Qiguer simply pulled it out of the pile of broken bricks, like picking up a brick from the ground.
He first lifted the bed above his head, twisted his waist, and with a flick of his wrist, hurled the entire bed frame at Li An.
The bed frame spun sideways, carrying the smell of burnt cotton and rust, and slammed towards Ang Lee's face.
Faced with the massive bed frame that was coming at him so aggressively, Li An did not retreat but advanced. He charged forward, his body low, his knees almost touching the ground, his back arched, and he slid under the bed frame.
The bed frame swept over his head and crashed into the wall across the hallway, scattering steel pipes and planks all over the floor.
Meanwhile, Ang Lee had already rushed into the room.
He kept his center of gravity low as he charged towards Qigur. There wasn't much distance between them, only four or five steps, which he could cover in the blink of an eye at his forward sprint.
Chigur's hand was still in the position after he was thrown off the bed frame, his shoulders were leaning forward, and his center of gravity was shifting forward with that swing. Li An was waiting for this moment to arrive.
Two steps away from Chigurh, Ang Lee's left foot hooked onto something on the ground—half a pillow, which had fallen from the shattered bed frame. Half of the cotton cloth was torn apart, and it lay limply on the ground.
With a flick of his foot, the half-pillow bounced off the ground and flew straight toward Qiguer's face.
The cotton spread out in the air, and the white fluff flew everywhere.
As Qiguer was adjusting his center of gravity, the pillow bumped into him. Before he could finish turning his head, the wad of cotton was already stuck to his face. It didn't completely cover his eyes, but the cotton fibers scattered in his vision, creating a grayish-white obstruction in front of him.
Taking advantage of that momentary obstruction of vision, Ang Lee fully extended his body.
He pushed off the ground with his feet, twisted his waist and hips, first retracted his right hand to his side, and then quickly swung it out, his fist striking fiercely towards Qiguer's right ear.
His target was clear: the depression behind the ear, between the temporal bone and the mandible. A strike there would cause temporary dizziness and loss of balance. With enough force, it could completely stun the opponent, instantly rendering them unable to retaliate.
Qiguer's view was blocked, but he did not panic. With a glimpse of his peripheral vision before it was obscured by the cotton, he successfully predicted Li An's attack target.
His right hand had already been raised before his vision was blocked by the cotton, his forearm crossed across his face, and his elbow tucked in in front of his right ear.
Just as he completed his bent-arm movement, Ang Lee's fist struck him, the fist hitting the outside of his forearm.
With a loud "bang," like two cars colliding head-on at full speed, the air was compressed between the fist and arm, producing a loud explosion.
The sound echoed through the already destroyed room. Qigu's body sank down, his knees bent, and his feet took a half step back, the soles of his feet grinding against the broken bricks, making a soft scraping sound.
A dent remained on Chigur's forearm, his skin was white from the impact and slowly began to turn red, but his arm was not broken and his elbow was not dislocated. He had only taken half a step back and then stopped moving.
Li An's fist was still pressed against Qi Gu'er's forearm. A tingling sensation ran through the knuckles of his fist, spreading from his knuckles to his wrist, as if he had hit a piece of hard steel. He took a half step back, creating some distance, and regained his footing.
Li An looked at Qi Gu'er, whose forearm was still in the blocking position. The spot on his forearm where the fist had struck was still red and swollen, but the swelling was slowly subsiding. Qi Gu'er's fingers twitched slightly after hanging down, as if to confirm that the joints could still move normally, and he also took a half step back.
The distance between the two men narrowed back to about two steps. A change finally appeared on Qiguer's face. His gaze swept quickly between Li An's shoulder and wrist before finally settling on Li An's fist.
Li An also looked at him. That punch he just delivered was the limit that a person's bones could withstand. If it were a normal person, even if the bone didn't break, it would still crack. But Qi Gu Er caught it as if nothing had happened.
He didn't move forward, but slowly straightened up, following the momentum of his retreat. One hand was clenched into a fist, his knuckles still numb, while the other hand held the puppets of Doyle and Old White.
The two people stared at each other through the almost completely dissipated layer of soot in the middle of the room, both having the same thought in their minds—is that a person?
