Chapter 84 Heavy Firepower
Charlotte's voice came from outside the door: "Wayne, it's me, Charlotte."
"They're here."
Wayne got up and opened the door.
Two male colleagues from the Second Division carried in an equipment box.
The equipment box wasn't too big, but as per Wayne's request, the weapons were standard and the ammunition was plentiful.
However, due to time constraints, it still fell a little short, but it was still a great help.
Otherwise, I won't be able to control the rat population's reproduction in my nightmares tonight, and things will only get more and more complicated.
After exchanging pleasantries and saying thank you for your hard work, the two male colleagues left first.
Only Wayne and Charlotte remained in the room.
Charlotte looked at the rat extermination equipment box and heavy firepower equipment, and asked:
"What do you need so much equipment for?"
Wayne simply pulled out a new reality bias meter from the box, put it on, felt a little safer, and chuckled twice:
"Nothing much, just deliver it. I'll probably return it before I leave tomorrow morning."
Charlotte stopped worrying and sat on Wayne's bed, gently brushing her hair aside:
"Fine, whatever you say. So... you're not planning to let me stay the night?"
Wayne's eyes showed surprise and doubt:
"Don't be like that. I only have one bed here. No, even if there were two beds, there wouldn't be any room for you."
Charlotte twirled her blonde hair with her fingers, her eyes crinkling as she smiled.
"But... in your sister's mind, we're already done with it."
Wayne sighed helplessly:
"No, sis, my sister wouldn't really be trying to introduce you to me as a girlfriend, would she?"
Charlotte's eyes looked innocent:
"Otherwise what? It was all your sister's arrangement."
Wayne took two steps back, moving further away from the bed:
"Big sister, stop joking. Is my sister being bewitched by you, or does she really know you?"
Charlotte stopped joking and said seriously:
"Okay, I do know your sister, but we're not that close yet."
Wei En let out a long breath:
"That's good, you almost scared me."
Charlotte chuckled:
"I think I've already scared you. By the way... why did I scare you? Do you really look down on me?"
Wayne leaned against the wall and glanced at the reality deviation meter on his wrist:
"That's not the reason. The main thing is that I'm staying at the Special Affairs Bureau without my sister's knowledge. If she happens to ask you, who's also at the Special Affairs Bureau, to be my girlfriend, I'll just think it's too much of a coincidence, and I'll have the illusion that it was all arranged. It'll make me wonder if I'm still not out of the contamination, okay?"
Charlotte stood up and smoothed out the hem of her skirt:
"It can't be that bad... Actually, this trip to the metropolis was quite enjoyable, but seeing how stressed you are, you really need to get some rest for the night, so I won't bother you."
Wayne's lips twitched:
"Of course you're happy. You watched a great show, but I was in the middle of it and almost died. Although you tried to save me, I didn't go with you. But I was the one who was in danger. Sigh, thinking about it that way, the Second Division is pretty comfortable, huh..."
Charlotte walked straight out of the room:
"Then I'll be going. I'm heading back to Michigan tomorrow morning. Get ready, I'll come find you."
"No problem," Wayne replied.
"Bye-bye, goodnight." Charlotte said a brief goodbye and closed the door.
Wayne wanted to reply politely, but she didn't give him the chance.
He could only turn around and sit on the heavy weaponry crate, placing the crowbar, revolver, and Theodore's mithril bullets beside him, to gather his thoughts and prepare to fall asleep.
Adjust your breathing, and wait a moment.
Entering a nightmare.
……
……
A luxurious banquet hall lounge area.
Wei En slowly opened his eyes, his thoughts gradually becoming clearer.
Before you is a luxurious ceiling with a large crystal chandelier shining from it, and a spacious, retro-style banquet hall entrance.
Wayne sat up.
Beside him was a heavy weapons equipment box.
On the table to the side was the "Seven Chapters of the Mysterious Monarch's Secret Scripture".
Outside the window, the night was deep and the fog was crimson.
"This is the banquet hall lounge area on the top floor of the Grand Hotel."
"The initial scene of each nightmare changes, but the scenes are all ones I have experienced in reality."
"This time, there should be a great chance of getting that fragment."
Without hesitation, Wayne sketched out two familiar outlines in his mind.
Name, past experiences, personality, characteristics.
Lillian, a battle nun from the Punishment Court of the Eastern Continent Empire, possesses superb fighting skills and a passion for battle, and is associated with the characteristics of mysterious gray flames and holy prayers.
Ethan, who once single-handedly wiped out an entire gang in Sin City, intimidated all gangs in the Federation with his name "Phoenix." He is carefree, has extensive connections, and possesses the characteristic of having blood-stained feather markings that can prolong his life.
As Wayne fully engaged his subconscious, he sketched out a complete outline of the character in his mind.
Wait a moment.
In the spacious center of the banquet hall's lounge area, two strangely shaped chairs carved with intricate runes suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
On one of the chairs sat a pretty red-haired woman, dressed in a formal suit, slender, polite and shy.
On another chair sat a stern-faced, brown-haired man dressed in beige casual wear, with a robust build.
Lillian and Ethan still appeared in the form that Wayne was most familiar with in his subconscious.
Upon seeing Wayne, the two looked around and quickly accepted the situation.
Wayne felt it was a pity:
"If we knew Ethan and Lillian a little more, we could incorporate more of their physical attributes and characteristics, increasing our chances of winning."
Ethan stood up, stretched slightly, and asked:
"Here we go again, huh? Hey? Did you get the special ability yet?"
Wayne's eyes were filled with a smile:
"Of course I got it."
Ethan continued to ask:
"How was it? Was it exciting? Did you have any fun experiences?"
Wei En gave a wry smile twice:
"It was fun, and quite exciting, but I almost fell in."
Ethan shrugged:
"Almost got caught? You just didn't. You're a messenger, so the people in the Second Division will definitely protect you, otherwise the mission targets will be missed."
Wayne didn't waste any more time:
"Overall, it went smoothly. I'll tell you the specific details when I have time. I brought heavy firepower today, so it should be a lot of fun."
Ethan was surprised:
"It's all arranged so quickly?"
Lillian's eyes were filled with excitement, clearly she couldn't wait:
"Okay, how about... we take a look at the weapons first?"
"sure."
Wayne got up and opened the equipment box next to him.
The latch popped open, revealing three sets of deadly weapons embedded in the foam grooves, along with countless matching ammunition.
The first thing that catches the eye is the squad automatic weapon, with a matte finish and loose ammunition belts hanging from the fuselage; it is the fire support unit for the infantry squad.
There are also fully automatic shotguns with short, stubby barrels and high-explosive drum magazines.
Finally, there was a heavy machine gun with a thick, long barrel and two sturdy steel legs.
Ethan picked up the fully automatic shotgun and weighed it in his hand:
"Not bad, I'm more comfortable with shotguns. It's a pity this one isn't custom-made, but it's still quite handy."
Lillian picked up the heavy machine gun and fiddled with it for a bit:
"This is good. Although I have never used this model before, I have encountered similar firearms in the Eastern Continent, so I can handle it."
Wayne nodded:
"It's good that you can all learn to use it, but I can't learn to use any of them."
Ethan wondered:
"So there's one machine gun left. Who's going to use it?"
Wayne picked up the crowbar and revolver, swung them around, and gestured that he would use them:
"Of course, it's still for the two of you. I can help you carry the remaining gun and all the ammo. Although there's enough ammo—the three of us probably couldn't carry it all—it might not even be enough for tonight's fun..."
