Summer Green Apples

Chapter 48 Driver Xiao Ji

The courtyard was very clean, and it was a bit colder here than in Pingcheng.

Chi Sui was wearing a black jacket and matching sweatpants. He lazily crossed his arms and looked down at her.

Ji Xiwen was taken aback. "Why are you up so early?"

"I can't sleep," Chi Sui chuckled lightly.

He doesn't mind sleeping in unfamiliar beds; he often travels during holidays and falls asleep as soon as he arrives at a hotel.

Now, I don't know if it's because I slept in Ji Xiwen's room that she had to squeeze in with her cousin, but I feel uneasy and guilty. I woke up for no reason and I'm not sleepy at all.

"Oh, oh, oh."

Ji Xiwen loosened the director's head, went to the kitchen to get two clean cups, and poured two cups of warm water.

Luo Meixia was boiling eggs in the kitchen when she took a red bill out of her pocket, handed it to Ji Xiwen, and said, "Sweetie, go to town and buy some breakfast."

In the mornings, they usually cook some noodles or porridge and eat the leftovers from the night before.

It is clearly not suitable for entertaining guests.

"Okay," Ji Xi replied, taking the money from her grandmother's hand.

Back in the courtyard.

The director was circling around Chi Sui's feet, looking disgusted. "He's so ugly, stay away from me."

Although the director couldn't understand, he could sense the human's unwelcomeness. He let out a wail and pitifully lay down on the ground.

Ji Xiwen quickly handed Chi Sui a glass of water, glaring at him, "How could you bully such a cute little dog like that?"

Chi Sui stared at the cup for a moment.

Ji Xiwen: "...Just washed it."

Chi Sui then took a sip and said, "It's so ugly, I don't know how you can see it as cute."

Ji Xiwen quickly finished a glass of water, put the glass aside, and squatted down to comfort the director, "You're just so cute, super super super cute."

The director was wagging his tail happily.

Chi Sui slowly drank his water, watching silently.

This morning, Ji Xiwen simply combed her hair without tying it up, and it fell smoothly over her shoulders, sliding down as she bent down to touch the director's head.

His profile was directly facing Chi Sui.

Long, jet-black hair, curled eyelashes, a straight nose, and rosy lips.

As dawn broke, a small vegetable garden appeared in the yard, a lush green expanse.

The girl lowered her head, her long hair blowing slightly in the wind, and the puppy nuzzled her hand affectionately with its head.

Indeed... she's quite cute.

Chi Sui thought casually.

After appeasing the director, Ji Xiwen put the cup back and then asked Chi Sui, "I'm going to town to buy breakfast, are you coming?"

Chi Sui originally wanted to say he wouldn't go.

But he didn't seem to have anything to do here, so he nodded and said, "Go."

Ji Xiwen showed the car keys in her hand, "Here, driver Ji is at your service."

"Can you drive?"

Chi straightened up, his previous casual demeanor completely gone.

"Yeah, I learned to drive a long time ago," Ji Xiwen said proudly. "I'm a super steady driver."

Chi Sui asked in confusion, "Aren't you underage?"

"It's okay if you're not an adult." Ji Xiwen led Chi Sui to the carport, opened the outer roller door, and inside was a small white sedan.

Chi Sui: "..."

His gaze towards Ji Xiwen unconsciously carried a hint of admiration. "Ji Xiwen, I really underestimated you before."

"Hmm? It's okay, I don't mind."

Ji Xiwen looked confused, turned her head to look at him, and then quickly pressed the car key in her hand.

The Yadea electric scooter next to the white sedan immediately responded.

“…………”

Chi Sui watched expressionlessly as she pushed an electric scooter out.

Ji Xiwen patted the back seat, "Come on, young master, let me take you out for a race."

"Is this the car you're talking about?" he forced out through gritted teeth.

"What else?"

Ji Xiwen lifted her leg and sat on the electric scooter, gripping the handlebars with both hands, feeling incredibly powerful.

Chi Sui: "..."

"I weigh much more than you." He looked at Ji Xiwen's thin arms and legs. "How about I carry you?"

Ji Xiwen: "...Can you ride one?"

"..."

Chi pondered for a moment, then said, "I can learn it now."

"Young Master, don't worry." Ji Xiwen patted his chest. "I've been driving for five years."

Chi was persuaded by her and got into the car.

This electric scooter is one of the larger types. You can sit in it, but it's too cramped because your legs are too long.

Ji Xiwen never boasted. She was indeed very steady on her bike. After leaving Jijia Village, there were farmers' fields on both sides, with all sorts of crops growing there. In the distance, there were rolling mountains.

When the wind blows, it carries a strong smell of earth, with a faint hint of the fragrance from Ji Xi's hair.

With his hands in his pockets, Chi Sui's pent-up frustration suddenly dissipated.

He would glance around from time to time, but most of the time he kept his eyes fixed on the front.

Ji Xiwen's shoulders were really narrow. To Chi Sui, she was too thin and couldn't block his view at all.

He could see the road ahead with just a slight tilt of his head.

Ji Xiwen was also in a good mood.

She used to love running errands for her grandparents, riding her electric scooter to town to buy things. This little road was very quiet, with only occasional cars passing by, and mostly electric scooters and bicycles.

When the wind blows, it seems as if the world unfolds beneath her feet.

She can do whatever she wants.

Ji Xiwen went to the breakfast shop she used to frequent and bought two large bags of breakfast.

One bag was placed in the bicycle basket.

The other person picked up the bag without asking, "Are we going back now?"

Ji Xiwen hesitated for a moment, then pointed to the supermarket across the street and said, "Wait here for me, I'm going to buy something."

Chi Sui: "What do you want to buy?"

"A toy." Ji Xiwen thought for a moment. "I heard my parents will arrive at noon, and my younger brother will come too. I haven't seen my brother in a long time. Buying him a toy should help him remember me."

Chi seized on the phrase "I heard" in her words and asked, "Will your brother buy it for you too?"

"I don't know," Ji Xiwen chuckled. "Maybe, maybe not."

Chi Sui: "..."

He paused for a moment, his brows furrowing slightly. "Then what makes you think you can buy it for him?"

"I'm the older sister," Ji Xiwen said. "I'm much older than him; he's only seven years old this year."

Chi licked the sharp tooth in his mouth with annoyance.

I wanted to curse, but I swallowed it back. "Who's born earlier or later isn't something you can control, and you don't owe him anything."

"I know."

Although Chi Sui looked annoyed and was very fierce, Ji Xiwen knew that he was angry on her behalf.

She spoke gently, "Children are easy to please. I'll give him a toy, and he should get along better these next few days."

Chi Sui was speechless. He turned his head, took a breath, and finally said coldly, "I'll give you five minutes. If you're not back, I'll ride back. You can walk back yourself."

"Okay," Ji Xiwen replied good-naturedly.
