Summer Green Apples
Chapter 43 Good Guy Card
"So handsome."
Luo Wenjing was amazed by Zhang Qingyan's words and gave her a thumbs up in praise.
Zhang Qingyan smiled and said, "A person's heart is limited; it can generally only hold one person."
Ji Xiwen nodded silently, "That makes sense."
Luo Wenjing's attention shifted back to her after that question. "Wenwen, what are your plans for this National Day holiday?"
"I'm going back to my hometown," Ji Xiwen said.
"Where is your hometown?" Luo Wenjing asked, intrigued. "You said before that your hometown is in the north, but I didn't quite believe it."
"I don't really believe it either," Zhang Qingyan echoed. "You look like someone from our area."
Ji Xiwen smiled and said, "My home is in a mountain village in Dong Province."
The eastern province is located by the sea, and its climate is considered relatively livable.
"Oh, oh, oh," Luo Wenjing said curiously, "I heard that women in your area can't eat at the table, is that true?"
"It's fake," Ji Xiwen quickly clarified. "That's not true. In my family, my grandma's word carries more weight than my grandpa's."
"That's good," Luo Wenjing said.
The three chatted haphazardly for an entire afternoon, with Li Jiaojiao occasionally chiming in, but spending most of the time lying in bed playing on her phone.
This is the last noon before leaving school.
-
The first day of National Day.
Airports, high-speed rail stations, and train stations were all packed with people, some traveling and others wanting to go home.
Ji Rong has been too busy these past few days and bought the tickets a bit late, leaving only two business class tickets.
The other two are economy class.
She originally wanted the Chi father and son to go to business class, since they were both tall and it would be too cramped in economy class.
As a result, Chi Kai simply shoved the two economy class tickets into Chi Sui's hands, saying, "Let these two little ones sit in the back."
After saying that, he took Ji Rong's hand, and the two walked towards the covered bridge.
Only Ji Xiwen and Chi Sui remained, staring at each other in bewilderment.
Chi Sui remained expressionless, but it was clear he was teetering on the edge of exasperation.
Ji Xiwen quickly reassured her, "Try to think about it from a different perspective."
"Tell me your ideas?" Chi Sui looked at her leisurely, as if wanting to see what kind of nonsense she could come up with.
Ji Xiwen had a sudden inspiration, "Uncle Chi probably wants us to get to know each other better."
"Cough cough."
Chi Sui suddenly coughed, "Cultivate...cultivate what kind of feelings?"
Ji Xiwen fell silent again.
The two followed the crowd onto the plane and found their seats with the gentle greetings of the flight attendants.
Ji Xiwen leaned against the window and finally managed to utter a sentence: "Brother-sister relationship."
She seemed a little embarrassed, her pale cheeks flushed with shyness.
Chi Sui: "..."
He didn't bother to say a word, just stared straight at Ji Xiwen.
Ji Xiwen met his gaze and said, "I haven't turned seventeen yet, I'm younger than you."
So she is indeed the younger sister.
"Then why are you blushing?" Chi Sui asked expressionlessly, his eyes fixed on her, wanting to know if she was telling the truth.
Ji Xiwen blinked. "I'm not sure if you still dislike me. I think we're friends now... but I don't know what you think, and I'm scared..."
Chi Sui's breath hitched. "What are you afraid of?"
"I'm just being paranoid," Ji Xiwen said awkwardly, tugging at her seatbelt.
Chi lowered his head and fastened his seatbelt. After a long silence, he dispelled her doubts. "Yes, it's not that you're just imagining things."
He stopped disliking her a long time ago.
He was always the one who was deluding himself.
After saying that, Chi Sui remained silent. Today, he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, with the hood up, his seatbelt fastened, his arms crossed, and his head tilted back.
On the contrary, Ji Xiwen kept wandering around.
This was her first time on an airplane, and everything was new and exciting.
As the plane taxied on the runway, it suddenly lifted off the ground. Ji Xiwen's heart skipped a beat, and her ears felt like they were stuffed with cotton, making all the subtle sounds muffled.
The cramped cabin was almost full, with the window shutters closed, making it somewhat dark, like the end of the world.
She unconsciously grabbed the seatbelt.
Until the plane was in mid-air, the window shades could be lowered, and outside was a beautiful day with blue skies and white clouds, and sunlight streamed in through the window.
The window was actually very small and dilapidated, and the view outside was somewhat blurry.
However, this did not dampen Ji Xiwen's enthusiasm in the slightest.
When she was young, she and her friends would occasionally see airplanes flash by in the clouds overhead while playing outside.
A group of children became excited, pointing at the sky and shouting, "Airplane!! There's an airplane!!!"
She always felt that airplanes were something very far removed from her life.
I only realized today that plane tickets aren't as expensive as I thought. Once she starts working, she can pay for her own plane tickets.
Chi Sui stayed up late playing games last night and didn't get enough sleep. He was already bored on the plane, so he decided to take a nap.
Before going to sleep, Ji Xiwen turned her back to him, staring at the window, wishing she could stick her head out.
After he had a very long sleep, the flight attendant was pushing a cart in the aisle to serve lunch, and her gentle voice woke him up.
When he woke up, Ji Xiwen was still facing away from him, gazing intently at the clouds outside the window.
Chi Sui: "..."
When the flight attendant reached the row in front of them, Ji Xiwen finally managed to pull her neck back.
She waited excitedly for the meal to be served, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw the boy who had been sleeping the whole way move his wrist, as if it had gone numb.
She immediately looked over and asked with a smile, "You're awake?"
"Hmm," Chi Sui replied casually. "What are you so happy about?"
"It's so nice to fly," Ji Xiwen said.
Chi Sui: "..."
That's actually quite easy to satisfy.
This time, lunch was a rice bowl, a small box containing either beef or fish.
Ji Xiwen ordered fish.
She leaned close to Chi Sui's ear and whispered, "Are the drinks here good?"
"It doesn't taste good." Chi Sui always sleeps the whole way on flights, unless it's an international flight that takes more than ten hours. Otherwise, he basically doesn't eat or drink.
"Oh," Ji Xiwen replied somewhat dejectedly.
Chi pinched the bridge of his nose and changed his words, "The cola and orange juice taste the same as what you buy at the convenience store."
"Can I have a drink?"
"Ten cups are fine with me," Chi Sui said.
Ji Xiwen said regretfully, "But she's already gone."
Chi stared at her for two seconds, then turned and called out to the flight attendant, "I'd like a Coke."
The flight attendant quickly poured a glass of cola and handed it to Chi Sui.
Chi then handed it to Ji Xiwen.
In fact, Ji Xiwen would also call out, but she didn't know if she could still accept the flight attendant after she walked past.
Who would have thought that Young Master Chi would do it for him?
Ji Xiwen looked touched. "Chi Sui, I misunderstood you before. You are a really good person."
Chi Sui: "..."
He rolled up his sleeves, revealing his muscular arms, his skin so pale it was almost blinding. "I'm warning you about something."
Ji Xiwen: "...You say it."
Chi Sui moved a little closer, the scent of incense emanating from him seeming to envelop Ji Xiwen.
"If you ever give me a 'nice guy' card again, I'll show you just how awful I am," he said through gritted teeth.
"Alright then." Ji Xiwen thought this person was really strange, but at the same time she diligently coaxed the young master, "I won't say it again."
