Summer Green Apples

Chapter 33 Rain

The sanitation team consisted of six people, arranged according to their seating arrangement.

Besides Chi Sui, Sui Yu, and Xu Jiyang, there are two other girls.

The two girls sat at the table in front of Sui Yu and Xu Jiyang.

Because it was drizzling, the students from both classes rushed back to their classrooms, and the playground quickly emptied, leaving only a few scattered people.

The two boys in the group had disappeared, leaving only four girls looking at each other in bewilderment.

One of the girls asked, "Where's our team leader?"

Sui Yu said, "They're probably out having fun with Xu Jiyang. Let's ignore them and pack up quickly before the rain gets too heavy."

"Okay, okay."

The other two girls reluctantly agreed.

Ji Xiwen silently picked up two mats and hurriedly ran to the equipment room. The rain wasn't too heavy yet, just a light drizzle, and the world was shrouded in a thin layer of mist, which lessened the summer heat somewhat.

The sports equipment room had a very old smell.

She put down the cushion and was caught in the rain.

She struggled to carry the three mats and said, "My math teacher asked me to go to her office, so I'll be going now."

There were twelve mats in total, divided among four people, so each person received three mats.

Ji Xiwen nodded.

When I came out of the sports equipment room, I found that the rain had intensified and quickly soaked my upper body.

She raised one hand to cover her eyes and ran back to the playground.

The rain was getting heavier and showed no signs of stopping. The next physical education class had been moved to the indoor gymnasium, and the playground was now empty.

The mat was already wet, and Ji Xiwen braved the rain to return to the equipment room.

The clothes on his upper body were almost completely wet.

She stood in the equipment room, looking dejectedly at the rain outside.

Summer rain is indeed sudden, and it seems to be going crazy, getting heavier and heavier. Just a moment ago it was a light drizzle, but a dull wind swept by, the clouds turned dark and heavy, and large raindrops began to fall, becoming denser and faster, making a loud splashing sound when they hit the concrete floor of the equipment room.

The wind was also somewhat chilly.

Ji Xiwen couldn't help but hug her arm.

Her hometown is in the north, where the weather doesn't change as quickly.

When Pingcheng gets hot, it's really hot, not the dry kind of heat, but a very humid kind of heat, which always makes people feel sticky all over.

It was raining, and the cicadas' chirping was both noisy and long.

Ji Xiwen tugged at her T-shirt, looking at the rain with worry.

If she goes back to the classroom in the rain now, she'll probably be soaked to the bone and won't be able to concentrate on the lesson.

Suddenly, someone came over from a distance with an umbrella.

As I got closer, I realized they were the same two girls from before.

At this point, the two of them each carried a cushion and shared an umbrella, walking to the eaves of the equipment room before putting the umbrella down.

At this time, most people carrying umbrellas are doing so to protect themselves from the sun, and by sheer coincidence, it just so happens to be raining.

The two put the mat in the equipment room and were about to leave when they came out.

One of the girls volunteered, "I'm sorry, this umbrella is a parasol, it's really too small, it can't be held up by three people."

"It's alright, it's alright," Ji Xiwen quickly said. "It'll probably shrink in a little while."

"I'll go to the classroom to borrow an umbrella for you and bring it to you later. I don't know where the PE teacher went," another girl said.

"Thank you," Ji Xiwen said gratefully.

This time she didn't refuse and planned to buy some snacks to give as a token of her gratitude.

The next class is history. The history teacher is humorous and doesn't stick to the knowledge in the textbook. He tells each lesson like a story, and he practices different question types before the exam.

Ji Xiwen's previous history teacher would simply read the textbook aloud, his Mandarin wasn't very good, and he would repeat a sentence two or three times. Finally, he would circle the key points, and that would be the end of the class.

Ji Xiwen quite likes her current history teacher.

……

The two girls walked a little further away before they started talking to each other.

"Ji Xiwen's bangs are completely wet. Did you even get a good look at what she looks like?"

Another nodded frantically, "I saw her, she's so beautiful!"

"Yeah," the girl said, somewhat annoyed. "She doesn't have a birthmark on her forehead. She has such a pretty face, why would she hide it?"

The two whispered among themselves as they arrived at the teaching building. Just as they were about to go upstairs after putting away their umbrellas, they bumped into Chi Sui.

He was carrying a folding umbrella, seemingly heading outside.

-

The school store.

The school bell had just rung, and there were only a few people scattered around the store.

Meng Leran bought a small bowl of oden and was about to leave with her umbrella when a girl called out to her from behind, "Meng Leran."

Meng Leran was in a bad mood, so she frowned and turned her head away.

"Li Qian?"

During their school years, prominent figures generally fall into three categories: those with exceptionally high looks, those with outstanding academic performance, and those with special status, such as the children of teachers or principals, or the children of wealthy or powerful families.

Li Qian is beautiful and academically excellent, and is quite well-known in her grade.

Meng Leran had some impression of her, but they hadn't had much contact.

"Is there something you need?" She raised her chin slightly, with a hint of pride.

Li Qian smiled and said, "I have something I want to tell you."

Meng Leran didn't take it seriously, took a bite of the lucky bag, and asked vaguely, "I don't have time to listen."

Li Qian's smile remained unchanged. "Don't you really have time to hear about what happened between Chi Sui and that girl? Don't you really want to know why he treats you so badly?"

Meng Leran's expression suddenly froze. She stared at Li Qian without blinking. "Are you kidding me?"

"You'll know whether I'm joking or not once you hear it," Li Qian said confidently.

Meng Leran's lips turned white as she pursed them. "You go ahead."

……

Downstairs in the Grade 11 teaching building.

"Team leader, why did you run away?"

One of the girls joked.

Chi Sui was about to leave, but stopped when he heard this. His gaze fell on the two girls, and he recognized them as members of his group.

"Sorry, I forgot." Chi Sui's nonchalant demeanor faded slightly, and he smiled.

After playing basketball, Li Junyu insisted on playing badminton. Since they were short of players, he went along to join in the fun, completely forgetting that he was supposed to be on duty that day.

It wasn't until I returned to the classroom and met Suiyu that I remembered.

Although Chi Sui is a scoundrel with no grand ambitions, he is exceptionally responsible.

I couldn't sit still any longer.

The girl said, "I guessed it, hahaha."

He asked another question: "Have all the mats been taken back?"

"It's been taken back," a girl said.

"Thank you for your hard work. You don't need to do your cleaning duties after school today. Xu Jiyang and I will do them." Chi Sui was relieved and turned to leave.

"Team leader!"

The girl then said, "Ji Xiwen is still in the equipment room. She didn't bring an umbrella, and it's raining so hard. Why don't you go pick her up? We won't go; we haven't started our practice yet."

Chi Sui was taken aback for a moment, then said, "Okay."

……

The wind was blowing and it felt a bit cold.

It was still incredibly hot at noon; the weather in Pingcheng really changes quickly.

Ji Xiwen subconsciously reached out and rubbed her arm.
