Summer Green Apples
Chapter 30, Grade 1
As Sui Yu passed by Ji Xiwen and Chi Sui's table, she no longer knew how to control her expression.
Two perfect scores.
After handing out all the test papers, she turned around and quickly said to Ji Xiwen, "Sister, you're amazing!"
Before Ji Xiwen could even speak, the bald man had already started banging on the table.
"Your test scores were pretty good this time."
The bald man lowered his head and took a sip of tea. "There are ten perfect scores in the liberal arts class, and we have four. I won't say who they are. I've always felt that once the results are out, there's no way to change them. You can only look at where you lost points, improve on those areas, try not to lose points in the future, and try to get those points in the college entrance exam. That's the meaning of exams..."
Baldy's resume is exceptionally impressive, and his classes are so engaging that few students ever lose focus.
Two math classes flew by.
There is a break in between for eye exercises.
Some people do it seriously, while others just take advantage of the situation.
Xu Jiyang was undoubtedly the one who took advantage of the chaos.
As soon as the disciplinary inspectors finished checking the eye exercises and left, he turned around and said to Ji Xiwen, "Wow, new classmate, which school did you go to before? How come you're so amazing? It's like a bolt from the blue."
Ji Xiwen is diligently doing eye exercises.
She has always had a deep reverence for this since she was a child.
Because I know that glasses for nearsightedness are not cheap, costing several hundred yuan each.
Ji Xiwen was never well-off as a child. It wasn't until high school that she started a small business and managed to save up a little money.
For a young girl, a pair of glasses costing several hundred yuan is too expensive and she can't afford it.
Therefore, she has been careful to protect her eyes since she was a child, especially by doing eye exercises whenever her eyes are tired.
She closed her eyes and answered with the name of a school.
Xu Jiyang said, "How come I've never heard of it?"
"It's normal that you haven't heard of it," Ji Xiwen said. "It's just an ordinary high school in a small county town. I estimate that not even a few students from it can get into top universities each year."
Xu Jiyang and Chi Sui looked at each other in bewilderment.
These two also brought Li Junyu with them. The three of them were childhood friends and all rich young masters. They won from the very beginning, starting from kindergarten. They attended almost all of the best schools in Pingcheng for elementary, middle and high school.
Pingzhong's undergraduate enrollment rate can reach 99%, and the rate of students admitted to key universities is over 50%.
Xu Jiyang thought about it for a long time but still couldn't figure it out. "So you were always the top student by a wide margin in school?"
"Uh-huh."
Ji Xiwen rubbed her earlobe, making the last move.
She was always ranked first in school, by a wide margin, leaving the second-place student by tens of points.
When I applied to college, No. 2 High School promised to give me a reward of 100,000 yuan.
This sum of 100,000 yuan is not a small amount for the Ji family.
"Wow, that's amazing, little sister." Xu Jiyang couldn't help but exclaim. "Chi Sui is good at studying, not only because he's smart, but also because he has good learning resources. You're just doing it all through your own hard work."
Chi Sui kicked him under the table, "Does it have to be one person being trampled on while the other is praised?"
Xu Jiyang shrank back, then chuckled, "I was just expressing my feelings, wasn't I?"
"Get lost," Chi Sui cursed. "And besides, are you that close to her? You keep calling her 'little sister'."
Xu Jiyang chuckled, "So, are you familiar with her? Do you even have a chance to interject?"
cooked.
I know him much better than you do.
But these words cannot be said aloud.
Chi Sui: "..."
He hesitated for a moment, his face turning somewhat grim. "Get out, then don't look at me."
When Ji Xiwen opened her eyes after doing eye exercises, they were a little blurry.
She responded to Xu Jiyang's words, "Yes, I work very hard, so I envy people like Chi Sui who don't need to work too hard."
Ji Xiwen was born in the countryside; her grandparents were farmers who toiled in the fields.
My parents are just ordinary working-class people, except for my aunt who is doing a little better.
She knew from a very young age that only studying could change her destiny.
This is the only way for her to escape her current life.
Chi Sui's gaze fell on her face, but he quickly looked away.
……
There was no geography class today, but during the last period in the afternoon, Lao Mao smiled and held the report card, asking the class monitor to help him post it on the bulletin board at the back of the classroom.
The class monitor had barely finished putting it on when a bunch of people gathered around.
Only a few students in the class remained completely still.
Xu Jiyang was the first to rush over.
He quickly glanced at a few key points, then darted out again. Returning to his seat, he turned and glared at the two who had been deskmates for less than two weeks. "Why aren't you two moving?"
Chi ignored him and continued working on his problems.
Ji Xiwen lay on the table reading a book. "I checked the answers for geography, and they're pretty close."
Xu Jiyang was taken aback, then humbly asked, "May I ask how many points you would give for geography?"
"No need to call me 'big boss,' you're too kind." Ji Xiwen was looking at "A Selection of Perfect Score Essays." She turned a page and said, "I chose the wrong answer, so it should be around 85."
"That's amazing!" Xu Jiyang gave a thumbs up. "You guessed perfectly. 86, out of a total of 698, first in the humanities."
Out of the corner of his eye, Xu Jiyang saw Chi Sui raise his head and say regretfully, "You've lost first place; you're second now."
"Second place is still better than last place," Chi Sui scoffed, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
Xu Jiyang retorted, "Why are you resorting to personal attacks?"
"As if what you just said wasn't a personal attack?" Chi Sui said.
She'd been sitting next to him for a week and a half, and she'd gotten used to it; the two of them would inevitably end up arguing while chatting.
Ji Xiwen continued to look down at her essay.
She didn't get up until most of the people behind her had left before she finally looked at her report card.
Her name is at the very top.
Ji Xiwen slowly exhaled, a slight smile playing on her lips.
Every cell in my body was cheering and jumping for joy.
She likes the feeling of being number one.
I like it very, very, very much.
Ji Xiwen habitually restrained her emotions, was happy for two seconds, and then went back to sit down and continue reading her essay.
……
After school, at a food stall outside the school.
Several young men filled a table.
Xu Jiyang rolled up a grilled food plaque and held it to Li Junyu's lips, "Let's do an interview. What's it like to be fourth in the grade?"
"There doesn't seem to be much difference between being fourth in the grade and being third in the grade, right?"
Li Junyu took a bite of the baked platter, which was sprinkled with white sesame seeds and had a rich aroma.
"But the feeling of being second in the grade is huge compared to being first in the grade." Li Junyu curled her lips into a mischievous smile. "You might as well interview our young master Sui Sui."
Even while sitting down, Chi Sui was caught in the crossfire: "..."
Xu Jiyang chuckled: "Come, come, let me do a little interview."
"roll."
Chi then cursed.
After listening to the whole thing, He Ran asked, "Um... so your new deskmate got first place?"
"Um."
Chi responded lazily.
