Summer Green Apples

Chapter 22 Couples Arguing

The bookstore and stationery store on the fourth floor are the same company, and the store is called "A Letter".

The shop is very large, with two entrances. It is beautifully decorated, with wind chimes hanging at the entrance and fairy lights adorning the glass windows.

Several small tables were set up at the entrance, and they were filled with students resting, mostly girls.

During their school days, girls loved to browse bookstores and stationery stores every weekend, looking at all sorts of new and pretty notebooks and cute pens. Romance novels and comic books were especially popular in the bookstores.

The bags from this store are also extremely cute: small ones are light blue, medium ones are white, and large ones are light pink, with simple line drawings of puppies and kittens on them.

Ji Xiwen smelled the fragrance as soon as she entered the store.

I can't tell if it's the girl's shampoo or the incense from the shop.

The background music was soothing light music, and the shop was mostly filled with girls; there was no unpleasant smell at all.

Luo Wenjing went straight to the romance novel section as soon as she arrived.

Ji Xiwen picked out a few nice-looking black pens and bought a light pink petal-shaped eraser.

The monthly exam was just around the corner. She stood there for a few seconds, hesitated, and then took out another box of replacement pen refills.

Zhang Qingyan waved her hand and grabbed several draft notebooks.

The three of them shopped for almost an hour before coming out. The shop owner was very kind and even gave them a few lollipops when they paid.

Luo Wenjing had saved up a group deal on her phone for a three-person meal at a newly opened grilled fish restaurant in the mall.

It tasted pretty good; Ji Xiwen even ate a bowl of rice.

After dinner, Ji Xiwen suggested that they give money A to Luo Wenjing.

Luo Wenjing clicked her tongue, clearly displeased. "What do you take me for?"

Ji Xiwen had no choice but to give up.

But she felt bad about it, so when she passed a bakery, she stopped and went in to buy two boxes of cream puffs.

The cashier, wearing a mask, asked, "Do you need anything else?"

Ji Xiwen shook her head, and suddenly another handsome face popped into her mind.

He must be a sweets lover.

Ji Xiwen hesitated for a moment, then said, "Pack me another box of cream puffs."

"Okay, beautiful." The cashier smiled warmly.

When Ji Xiwen came out carrying three boxes of cream puffs, Luo Wenjing's eyes widened. "Why did you buy so many?"

"Here you go," she said with a smile, handing a box to Luo Wenjing.

Luo Wenjing was taken aback for a moment. "Wenwen, you're being too polite."

"Take it. Sharing is the only way to make it last. Otherwise, I won't be able to sleep tonight," Ji Xiwen said earnestly.

"Okay, I'll accept it."

Zhang Qingyan readily accepted it.

Seeing this, Luo Wenjing also took it.

Luo Wenjing used her phone to call a ride-hailing car. "Where do you all live? If it's on my way..."

"My home is in Shengxing," Zhang Qingyan said.

Luo Wenjing said regretfully, "The directions are opposite."

She then looked at Ji Xiwen, "Wenwen, what about you?"

Ji Xiwen paused for a moment, "I just moved here, so I'm not very familiar with the area."

She didn't even know what Shengxing, which Zhang Qingyan mentioned, was.

Luo Wenjing: "What's the name of your neighborhood?"

Ji Xiwen replied, "Huayue Bay."

Luo Wenjing was stunned. She looked up and exclaimed, "What?! You actually live there?"

Even Zhang Qingyan looked over.

Ji Xiwen was confused and worried that she had said something wrong, so she even stammered when she spoke, "W-what's wrong?"

"This neighborhood is a well-known upscale area; ordinary people can't live here." Luo Wenjing shook her head. "Wenwen, I really underestimated you before."

Oh, I see.

Ji Xiwen breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm staying at my aunt's house. My aunt is quite capable."

"I see," Luo Wenjing said. "We're not going that way, oh well."

"It's okay, I'll just take the bus," Ji Xiwen smiled.

The three went their separate ways.

The bus swayed and rattled, and by the time it arrived at Huayue Bay, it was already past five in the afternoon.

The sky was still bright, but it wasn't as hot as it had been at noon.

Ji Xiwen carried things in both hands and walked briskly towards the small villa.

She hadn't had as much fun as she did today in a long time.

Although we didn't do much, we just strolled around, looked around, and ate and drank.

After turning the corner, the gate of the Chi family's villa came into view.

Ji Xiwen suddenly stopped walking and awkwardly hid behind the wall.

Not far away, Chi Sui leaned against the wall, with a girl standing in front of him.

The girl had a particularly slender figure and was wearing a baseball cap. Ji Xiwen only caught a glimpse of her back; her long hair under the cap was smooth and silky.

"Chi Sui, you weren't like this before. How can you so easily trample on a girl's sincerity now?"

Her voice was very pleasant, but her tone was extremely dissatisfied, as if she was extremely disappointed.

Chi Sui leaned against the wall, his hands in his pockets, his black hair hanging down in front of his forehead in a slightly messy manner.

He lowered his eyes nonchalantly, "But this is how I am now..."

He paused, then curled his lips into a smirk, leaned forward slightly, and said with a slightly roguish grin, "Isn't this all thanks to you?"

"You...do you really have to say these things to annoy me?"

The girl asked another question in a low voice.

"If you don't want to listen, you can leave," Chi Sui said coldly. "Nobody asked you to come."

This girl must be Chi Sui's girlfriend...

Ji Xiwen pressed herself tightly against the wall, afraid of revealing herself, and even her breathing became very light.

It's already awkward to bump into a couple arguing.

Especially when you bump into someone you know.

This makes things even more awkward.

Fortunately, the girl didn't notice her and stormed off.

Ji Xiwen breathed a sigh of relief, straightened up, and was about to leave when she suddenly froze at the corner.

The boy had appeared opposite her at some point, arms crossed, staring at her expressionlessly, his fair skin and black hair creating a striking contrast.

In the height of summer, white walls and black tiles stand tall, and the leaves of trees in the distance tremble in the wind.

He casually propped his long legs up, a cold smile playing on his lips. "Does the corner sound nice?"

Ji Xiwen: "..."

This person is quite perceptive.

She didn't say anything.

Chi Sui walked up to her with an arrogant swagger and leaned slightly closer.

He was tall and broad-shouldered, enough to completely envelop Ji Xiwen, creating a very strong sense of oppression.

Ji Xiwen has always been somewhat intimidated by taller boys, after all, there is a significant difference in physical strength between boys and girls.

She swallowed nervously and explained, "I didn't mean to. Didn't we see each other at the bubble tea shop at noon? I was out with my friend and was on my way home when we bumped into each other."

Chi then stared at her silently.

Her bowl-cut bangs covered most of her face, leaving only half of her smooth-skinned jawline visible, and her cherry-red lips were nervously pursing back and forth.

Seeing that Chi Sui didn't speak, Ji Xiwen quickly added, "But don't worry, I didn't see what your girlfriend looks like, and I won't tell anyone. I'll keep it a secret for you and won't let anyone else know..."

It's highly likely that this statement isn't entirely accurate.

She corrected herself again, "Anyway, it won't come out of my mouth."
