Summer Green Apples
Chapter 01 Class 22
Pingzhong, Grade 11, Class 2.
It was right after class, and even the top classes preparing for Tsinghua and Peking University were noisy, with waves of noise rising and falling.
"Brothers and sisters, a transfer student has joined our class..." The sports committee member had just finished a meeting and entered the classroom when he dropped this bombshell.
This news was like cold water splashed into a hot oil pan, causing a sizzling sound and drawing everyone's attention.
"So sudden...?"
"Is it a pretty girl or a boy?"
"Transferring directly to our class, which school's top student did Old Cat poach this time?"
Pingzhong's school uniforms are red and white, which look particularly festive.
The sports committee member stood on the podium, cleared his throat, and said, "Everyone, quiet down, listen to my scoop."
The group of students who had been making a racket all fell silent upon hearing this and looked up at him.
The sports committee member seemed to have a penchant for being a star; as he was being watched like this, he smiled with satisfaction, "It's a girl."
A few seconds of silence.
"and then?"
"That's it." The sports committee member looked innocent. "She had her head down, and she had those spatula bangs, so who could see her face clearly? But she was quite thin."
"Does that mean she'll be sitting at the same table as Young Master Chi?"
As soon as these words were spoken, many girls turned to look at the chosen spot in the last row near the door.
There are two tables; the one facing the aisle is empty.
The seat against the wall had someone lying on it. He was wearing earplugs and seemed completely oblivious to the noisy, market-like atmosphere. Only the back of his head was visible, and his upper body was covered by a school uniform jacket, revealing only the skin on his neck, which was so white it was almost blinding.
Xu Jiyang, who sat at the table in front of him, took advantage of his good relationship with Chi Sui and shook him awake, "Wake up, wake up."
Two seconds later, the boy lifted his head from the crook of his arm.
His black hair was messy, his striking brow bone was bold and bold, he had deep double eyelids, long black eyelashes, and his pupils were also quite dark. He looked a little sleepy and not someone to mess with.
His expression was quite impatient, the annoyance of being disturbed while half-asleep: "Is he sick?"
"You'll soon have a deskmate, are you excited?"
Xu Jiyang smiled maliciously.
Chi Sui paused for a moment, "My deskmate?"
……
The new classmate, Ji Xiwen, was standing in the office at that moment.
Listen to her aunt, Ms. Ji Rong, and this Mediterranean-looking homeroom teacher exchanging pleasantries.
"Then we'll have to trouble Teacher Mao to take good care of our child from now on."
"Not at all, Ji, with such excellent grades, it's my honor to have you in my class."
In early September, during the height of summer, the sun was blazing at 10 a.m., streaming in through the meticulously cleaned windows.
Ji Xiwen was standing right below the window.
She narrowed her eyes.
The white T-shirt outlined her slender shoulders, and her arms below the sleeves were very thin, especially her hands, which were long and thin, like a thin layer of skin covering her bones. Her skin was as white as snow, and the blue veins on it were clearly visible.
Until the two finished their mutual flattery.
Ji Rong patted Ji Xiwen on the shoulder, "I'll pick you up after school this afternoon. First, go with your teacher, Ms. Mao, to the classroom to get acquainted with the students."
"Okay." Ji Xiwen nodded.
The school bell had rung, and looking out the corridor window, there were only a few people scattered around the campus.
Class 2 of Grade 11 was at the end of the corridor, near the small balcony. The noise from inside could be heard from two classrooms away, which reminded Ji Xiwen of the town market.
The old cat clearly heard the noise too.
He had just said in the office that his class had the best discipline in the whole school, but less than ten minutes later, he was thoroughly exposed.
His face turned green, like a giant lettuce leaf, and he stormed into the classroom, yelling at the group of kids below, "What time is it? Don't you have any sense of time? Our class is the noisiest when I enter the corridor."
"During the meeting last month, the principal said that our class should have at least ten students admitted to Tsinghua and Peking Universities. I even made a solemn pledge. But looking at it today, there's no hope at all. If even one student gets into Tsinghua or Peking University, I'll have to go to a temple outside the city to pray."
The classroom fell silent instantly, and everyone lowered their heads to their books, showing great diligence.
Old Cat barely calmed down and turned to let Ji Xi in, "We have a new classmate, let's all welcome her."
Ji Xiwen stood near the podium and glanced down.
It was completely different from her old, dilapidated high school in a small county town.
The large, brand-new light blue desks were not the kind of old-fashioned wooden desks. Everyone was wearing school uniforms, and although they looked different, they all seemed very energetic. The desks were particularly clean, with no bookends blocking their view.
"Hello everyone, my name is Ji Xiwen."
"The season of the season, the sound of the stream at noon when the bell is not heard."
When the forest is deep, you may see deer; at midday, you may not hear the bells of a stream.
The girl was poised and confident, but her accent sounded a bit awkward; it was clear she was from out of town.
Most people gave her a warm round of applause, but a small group of people looked her up and down.
White T-shirt and black pants, washed very clean, but they still look cheap.
The hairstyle is very outdated, with thick bangs covering most of the face.
It's both rustic and poor.
Someone in the back rows whispered, "Turns out he's just a country bumpkin."
This remark drew a burst of ridicule.
Chi remained unmoved, flipped through the test paper, took out a black pen from the pen holder, and circled something on the paper.
Old Cat pointed to the only empty seat in the classroom and said, "You can sit there for now. We'll rearrange the seats after the exams."
Ji Xiwen subconsciously looked over.
I spotted the boy leaning against the wall at a glance.
The person sat languidly, head down writing on the exam paper. His fair skin made him quite conspicuous in the crowd.
A few seconds later, Ji Xiwen gripped the strap of her schoolbag and nodded.
She walked through the long aisle, stood in the last row, and pulled out a chair to sit down.
Throughout the entire process, the boy next to her seemed too lazy to even glance at her, busy with calculations on his draft paper.
Old Cat had already left just before class was about to start.
Many people in front of her secretly turned their heads to look at Ji Xiwen, their gazes filled with both curiosity and disdain.
Ji Xiwen remained calm, having grown accustomed to this situation.
She took out her pencil case and textbooks from her schoolbag, and could faintly smell the pleasant and refreshing scent on the boy.
Ji Xiwen didn't know much, so she couldn't tell exactly what the smell was.
It can only be described.
It smells like the scent of dewdrops falling on leaves in the mountains on a misty morning, a faint woody fragrance mixed with the coolness of the mist.
Compared to her upright sitting posture, Chi Sui looked like she was paralyzed from the waist down.
He leaned back lazily in his chair, his long legs bent, the thin light from the window illuminating his silhouette clearly.
The person in front of him turned his head and stared at Ji Xiwen, his gaze devoid of any disdain, seemingly filled only with curiosity.
"Ji, which school did you go to? Your accent doesn't sound like we're from around here."
Ji Xiwen answered vaguely: "My family is in the north, but my parents moved here for work."
Xu Jiyang nodded, didn't ask any more questions, and just smiled.
He has a pair of cute little tiger teeth, which are especially endearing.

【Eating Guide】
1. A sweet but oblivious girl versus a proud and stubborn guy: an incredibly pure and innocent couple with no third party or ex-partners (the male lead is a bit pretentious at first, but becomes timid later).
2. Refrain from being insensitive or irresponsible. Do not mention other authors or books. Show mutual respect (even apologizing for being insensitive is not acceptable).
3. Reject baseless accusations. If you think something resembles a certain book, please throw your color palette in my face, or report it directly to the official Tomato website (spreading rumors is easy, but debunking them is incredibly difficult).
