Farming Life Starting in Africa

Chapter 90 Factory Area Defense

"Rosen, what should we do?" Zhou Weijie's voice came through the walkie-talkie.

"What else can we do? Just charge through. Your car can lead the way; regular bullets won't penetrate your defenses much—but you need to dodge rockets and heavy fire! Don't get carried away!"

The phrase "Don't get carried away" was actually directed at Leng Feng, the simpleton who was actually the most impulsive of the group.

After saying that, Rosen climbed out of the passenger seat, stepped onto the top of the cockpit, climbed into the truck bed, and plopped down in the seat of the ZU-23.

He checked the ammunition boxes; two oversized boxes, each containing a hundred rounds. Enough for him to splurge for a while. It wasn't that he didn't want to load more, but the cannon barrel couldn't take it. After firing two hundred rounds continuously, the barrel would turn red-hot and soften, requiring cooling.

"Understood." Zhou Weijie pointed out a route to Miao Feng, intending to go around through the factory area not far away. There were fewer civilians there, so if a fight broke out, they could fight more freely.

Within the factory area, the battle has reached a fever pitch.

The rebels have broken into the factory area and are cleaning up the first floor.

"Rocket launcher!" Li Wei shouted, quickly throwing himself behind a thick solid wood table.

The words had barely left his mouth when a 40mm rocket struck a reinforced concrete pillar five meters in front of him with a deafening roar, sending sparks flying and debris scattering everywhere. The remaining force was blocked by the thick solid wood table in front of him; shrapnel and brick fragments became embedded in the wood, emitting a wisp of smoke.

"Damn it," Li Wei climbed up from behind the table, shook off the dust, and glanced at the pillar with lingering fear. A large chunk of concrete had been knocked away, revealing the twisted steel bars inside. "Luckily it wasn't a high-explosive bomb, otherwise this table wouldn't have been able to withstand it either."

A frantic voice came through the walkie-talkie, "Captain! We're being suppressed! We only managed to destroy that DShK, the MG42 has gone in, be careful!"

Li Wei's heart tightened. If that MG42 came in, they would have no choice but to run. Except for concrete pillars that could withstand it for a while, other walls were practically made of paper against that gun—single shots could penetrate walls, and bursts of fire could demolish them.

"Retreat! Let's go up to the second floor!" Li Wei decisively ordered.

The group worked together skillfully, suppressing the enemy with fire while taking turns retreating.

The voice came just as the last person had retreated to the top of the stairs.

"Whoosh whoo ...

The distinctive sound of the MG42, like a high-speed chainsaw or a machine tearing cloth, came up from downstairs.

This heavy machine gun, which was widely used by the German army in the final stages of World War II, had an astonishing rate of fire and was jokingly called "XTL's chainsaw." It was an absolute weapon of mass destruction on the battlefield.

Li Wei looked down at the wall of the bunker they had just been in. Under the MG42's fire, the brick wall crumbled and collapsed in large sections, with broken bricks falling down with a clatter. In less than three seconds, more than half of the wall had disappeared.

Several armed police officers hid in the gaps in the stairwell, watching the horrific scene below, cold sweat streaming down their backs.

In the movie, the superhumans who were hit by machine gun fire only had a small hole in their bodies.

However, if a person in real life were hit in the torso by this thing, it would ignore the effect of the bulletproof vest and create a huge cavity effect in their body.

There will be a bowl-sized wound behind him, and all the tissue and bone fragments inside his body will spray out, inevitably leading to instant death, with no need for any rescue efforts.

However, this gun also has its drawbacks; it uses a belt of ammunition with a maximum capacity of three hundred rounds. If the machine gunner were to fire in full-auto mode without regard for ammunition, the magazine would be empty in a maximum of fifteen seconds.

Li Wei silently calculated the time.

Sure enough, the gunfire stopped in less than twenty seconds.

"They're attacking," Li Wei whispered. "Team one, prepare grenades, throw in five seconds." Just as he threw the grenade, amidst the sounds of explosions and screams from downstairs, Sha Niu's voice came through the walkie-talkie again, this time with a hint of urgency: "Captain! Five rebels are coming up from the building across the street! Stay away from the west-facing windows!"

"Damn it!" Li Wei cursed. "Second team, go up to the roof and support Sha Niu! Third team, go inside and move some junk to block the west stairwell, and set up booby traps in the junk. If all else fails, blow up the stairwell, don't try to withstand it!"

"clear!"

roof.

Sha Niu slung his QBZ-95 assault rifle over his back, clutching a broken mirror he'd picked up from the ground on his way upstairs in his left hand. He carefully peered over the low wall, adjusting the mirror's angle to observe the rebels on the opposite rooftop.

The five men were firing downstairs, bullets shattering against the glass with a clattering sound. Only one man was looking in his direction, but his gun was pointed downwards and not raised.

Silly Bull put away the mirror, swung the rifle over his back, rested it on his shoulder, and switched the fire selector to full automatic. He took a deep breath, then quickly leaned out halfway, aimed for less than a second, and pulled the trigger.

"Da da da da da—"

A burst of bullets swept across the area. Caught off guard, two of the rebels on the opposite rooftop were shot and fell to the ground, while the other three were forced to lie flat on their sides, too afraid to even lift their heads.

When he ran out of bullets, Silly Bull immediately crouched down, lowered his head, and quickly moved a few steps to the side to find a new position.

Sure enough, a few seconds later, bullets from the opposite rooftop rained down on the low wall where he had just been standing. At a distance of several dozen meters, the brick wall couldn't withstand the rifle bullets at all; they were shot right through, sending brick fragments flying everywhere.

"I've taken down two on the roof, and there are three more. They've got me under control," Silly Bull said into the walkie-talkie while squatting on the ground.

He quickly changed magazines, and just as he finished, a guy on the other side started randomly firing at the low wall on his side.

The third bullet grazed the cow's rear end and hit the floorboards. Pebbles splattered on him, making him shudder with pain.

"Holy crap! Damn it!" Silly Bull quickly withdrew his hand, touched his butt, and thankfully, there was no blood, just a hole in his pants.

He slowly turned around, took out the shard of mirror again, and looked across the wall through the bullet hole.

On the rooftop across the street, a teenage rebel was firing short bursts of AK-47 in their direction. His movements were practiced, clearly indicating he was a former Boy Scout.

Just then, the voice of the second team leader came from the door leading to the rooftop, "Silly Bull! We're at the door! You draw their fire, we'll go up and take care of them!"

Silly Bull couldn't just stick his head out now; everyone was aiming their guns at them, and peeking out would make him an easy target. His eyes darted around, and he suddenly had an idea.

"I'll throw a grenade over there, wait for my signal." He pulled an 82-2 grenade from his pocket, removed the safety pin, and estimated the distance to the roof of the building next door to be about thirty meters.
