Chapter 76 Rescue Plan

Miao Feng thought for a moment and then voiced his concerns: "I'm afraid that if they get desperate from the bombing, they'll push the hostages outside as shields. That would make it much harder to fight them."

Rosen scratched his head upon hearing this. Miao Feng was right; their purpose was to rescue the hostages, not to kill. If killing were effective, they would have stormed in and mowed everyone down long ago; why would they need to hold this discussion?

Zhou Weijie thought for a moment and said, "Let's wait until it gets dark. We won't be able to see anything after dark. Judging from the terrain, we still need to find a way to sneak in tonight, otherwise we won't be able to rescue the hostages."

Everyone nodded in agreement, then he turned to Rosen and asked, "Do you have any other useful equipment? Don't hold back, take it all out."

Rosen stood up, climbed back into the truck bed, and pulled three helmets out of the box.

The helmet looked a lot like the one worn by Space Marines in Warhammer 40. It was a size larger than the standard US military helmet, but it didn't have those protruding multi-function lenses, so it looked like a big-headed doll's helmet, round and chubby, and kind of cute.

"Where did you get this?" Zhou Weijie took a helmet, examined it from all angles, and tapped it with his finger. "Still saying you haven't gotten involved with the people at the US military base? This thing is obviously not a civilian version."

"What functions does it have?" Leng Feng also came over, took one, and tried it on his head.

Rosen proudly explained, "The lenses have low-light night vision and thermal imaging capabilities, and the helmet also integrates a noise-canceling communication headset. In addition, the helmet itself is bulletproof; ordinary bullets can't penetrate it."

These are all the results of his modifications to Swagger's night vision goggles, which he incorporated into his helmet. Aside from being a bit bigger and making him look like an alien, the field of vision is indeed much better, especially in night combat, where it provides a significant advantage.

Leng Feng, a connoisseur, weighed it in his hand and then adjusted its position on his head, saying, "This thing is very high-end. It's completely different from what we used to use, and it's much lighter too."

Rosen was also a little unsure how to respond. He had always felt that the equipment of the domestic special forces must have entered a magical stage.

Optical invisibility cloaks, electromagnetic rifles, brain-computer interface drones, robotic wolves—they must all be there by now, right? How could Leng Feng not have seen such modified equipment? Is the Wolf Warrior too weak? Or is Lao Lu too poor?

He shook his head, banishing the absurd idea from his mind.

Zhou Weijie cleared his throat and steered the conversation back on track: "Alright, let's get down to business. Let's discuss what to do tonight."

Rosen spread out the map and drew two lines on it with his finger: "You two split up and launch a feint attack from the front, making a big enough commotion. I'll try to sneak in through the cave at the back door, and while their attention is on your side, I'll slip in to rescue them."

Leng Feng asked doubtfully, "Are you sure you can manage alone? Besides, they're on guard now; there must be more people at the entrance. It won't be easy to get in."

Rosen shook his head, his tone resolute: "It's alright. If things get too tough, I'll retreat. I can definitely get out unscathed. I'm not stupid; I wouldn't force my way in if I couldn't win, would I?"

Leng Feng couldn't help but say, "Why don't I do it? After all, I was a soldier, and I'm familiar with this kind of infiltration mission. You're just an ordinary civilian, don't try to be brave."

Rosen actually had serious doubts about his professional abilities. This guy had caused a lot of trouble in the army, and disobeying orders was commonplace. If he went in alone, he might just rush in recklessly.

In this real world, the protagonist's halo is useless. If he hadn't been wearing his bulletproof vest, Leng Feng would have been the first to fall.

With the All-Powerful Capsule at his disposal, Rosen had a whole host of trump cards. If he wanted to, in that confined space, unless the Iron Army members were willing to die together, they absolutely couldn't stop him.

"It's okay, the more noise you make up ahead, the better. Besides, your marksmanship isn't necessarily better than mine."

Leng Feng snorted defiantly, "Hmph, after this is over, let's have a contest. The loser buys drinks."

"Hehe, where did you hide those two boxes of thatch? I'm afraid you'll have to hand them over later."

Zhou Weijie impatiently put down his water bottle, interrupting the two's bickering. "There's still the issue of the pursuit. We need to consider whether we've managed to rescue anyone or not. You're only thinking about how to get in, not how to get out. What if they're following us through the back door?"

In real-life car chases, the car in front is basically just a target, and it's very difficult to hit a vital spot when trying to retaliate.

Rosen smiled, stood up, walked to the side of the pickup truck bed, and took out a large box of triangular nails. He shook the box, and the densely packed triangular nails inside jingled.

"With this, they'll have to chase us on foot. If we spill it on the road, unless they have tires like mine, they'll all get blowouts. Then all those armored pickup trucks will be stuck, let's see how they chase us then."

Zhou Weijie nodded and pointed to the map. "I'll enter from the west entrance, Leng Feng, you go south, is that alright?"

Leng Feng nodded.

"Once we're inside, we'll take out the watchtower first," Zhou Weijie continued. "Then we'll lay a few Claymore mines for defense. They'll hold off any pursuit and cover our retreat. Our objective is a feint attack; don't actually storm the cave, or the hostages will be in danger. When they can't hold out any longer, we'll reduce our firepower and focus on buying time."

He turned to Miao Feng and said, "Miao Feng, you control the flying machine for high-altitude support. Shoot down any high-powered weapons like rocket launchers you see. Don't give them a chance to fire. Before retreating, try to destroy their vehicles. Also, help Leng Feng and me scout the surrounding area to prevent them from flanking us."

Miao Feng nodded vigorously, his face clearly saying, "I guarantee I will complete the mission."

"Hey! Patrick!" Zhou Weijie shouted into the car.

Patrick poked his head out of the car window.

"You're in charge of controlling a drone to guard the area around the vehicle and prevent anyone from getting close. We need to drive the car closer and park it near the minefield for easy rendezvous."

Finally, he looked at Rosen: "Honey Badger, you'll infiltrate three minutes after the fighting starts. We'll draw their fire before you go in. Remember, if there's a problem, retreat first. Don't be reckless. We'll make a big enough commotion."

After saying that, he turned to look at Leng Feng: "We need to remember the safe routes here, or we'll become a laughing stock if we step on a landmine."

Leng Feng answered seriously, "I'm fine with it. I memorized the route after reading it once."

"Oh, right," Rosen remembered something and quickly added, "My Claymore mines have been enhanced. They're lethal within 100 meters of the front, and the maximum effective range can reach over 300 meters. In addition, there's a kill radius of nearly 30 meters on the back of the mine."
