Chapter 63 Tank Battle
"Big...Big...Big Daddy!" the fat black man's voice boomed, "They have tanks too! They have them too!"
Before he could finish speaking, he saw the cannon barrel turn directly in their direction.
"Damn it! The cannon is aimed right at us! Run!"
The old man on the other end of the phone only heard a loud bang, followed by a piercing static sound, and then the dial tone indicating the phone had been disconnected.
Big Daddy's face immediately darkened, turning ashen, his knuckles white as he gripped the phone. He paused for two seconds, then said, "Leave one team to clean up the battlefield, take no prisoners. The rest of you, come with me to the garbage dump to the west."
After saying that, he got into his Jeep, floored the accelerator, and the car sped off. Several team leaders took out walkie-talkies and began giving instructions, then they got into their own cars and followed.
The military camp was thrown into chaos. Gunfire erupted, and soon four tanks rumbled out, following far behind, their tracks kicking up dust that blotted out the sky.
Over here, Rosen fired a high-explosive grenade directly at the jeep. With a loud bang, the car flew up, flipped twice, and landed as a fireball. The people next to the car were probably mostly dead too; there likely wouldn't be any survivors within 10 meters.
The two tanks that were driving this way must have spotted the flash of the explosion, because they immediately turned their guns around.
Rosen glanced at the two tanks locked on the fire control system, then grabbed an armor-piercing shell, stuffed it into the loading port, and pushed the shells into place. The only thing that annoyed him about this tank was the lack of an automatic loading system; he had to do it manually every time. He actually wanted to modify it, but without the blueprints, he had to give up.
After loading, Rosen looked through the panoramic sights again. The tank opposite them had already begun turning its turret. "They've spotted us!" he shouted. "Charge them head-on, that's where the armor is thickest. Don't expose your sides!"
Leng Feng adjusted the direction of the car and looked in his panoramic mirror. He could only see two small dots emitting black smoke in the distance, heading this way.
A few seconds later, Rosen awkwardly manipulated the fire control system, locking the tank on his left into the sights. He pressed the laser rangefinder, and a red dot shot out from the turret, flickering twice on the opposing tank. He bit his lip, slowly adjusting the direction until the lock-on frame turned completely red, then pressed the fire button on the control handle with his right hand.
With a deafening roar, the entire tank jolted, and the gun barrel jerked upwards. In the panoramic view, a spark exploded on the tank on the left, slightly ahead.
The armor-piercing shell pierced a small hole in the front door of the tank, sparks flew, and then the tank slowly came to a stop.
The damage from armor-piercing rounds isn't on the surface, it's inside the tank. Once it penetrates, the high-temperature metal jet and fragments fly around inside, causing a fire, detonating the ammunition, and virtually eliminating any chance of survival for the people inside.
Rosen, looking at his victory, slapped his thigh excitedly, "One tank is destroyed! The other tank on the other side has turned its gun!"
The instant the tank fired, Leng Feng slammed on the accelerator and pulled the left joystick, causing it to veer sharply to the left – a swift and decisive maneuver. While Rosen claimed it could withstand direct damage, Leng Feng had no intention of risking his life to prove him right.
The slow speed earlier was to give Rosen a better aim; now that he'd hit one, it was time to get going. The twelve-cylinder diesel engine roared to life, its deafening roar sending shivers down one's spine as the sixty-ton steel behemoth began to accelerate.
In less than six seconds, the speed increased to about 30 miles per hour, and it was still climbing.
Suddenly, a loud explosion came from the right rear of the tank; the tank opposite had also fired. The shell grazed past the tank, blasting a large crater in the ground, sending dirt and gravel flying and hitting the vehicle with a series of thuds. If it weren't for Leng Feng's quick maneuver, that shot would probably have hit the front gate.
After loading his ammunition, Rosen tried to lock onto the enemy tank with a laser rangefinder, but the tank was jolting and his vision was blurry. As a novice, he could only try his best to adapt to the situation.
However, he reacted quickly enough, gritting his teeth and trying his best to frame the enemy tank in the center of the infrared sight. After about two seconds of hesitation, he pressed the fire button.
With a loud bang, the shell struck the far left side of the enemy tank, hitting its tracks and sending sparks flying. The enemy tank's tracks snapped, and it began to spin in circles.
To Rosen's surprise, the enemy tank stopped abruptly, its turret remaining stationary, completely exposing its side to him. "Track hit! Slow down! Watch me finish it off in one shot!"
About ten seconds later, the shell was loaded, and Rosen pressed the fire button again. This time, the shell accurately hit the turret of the enemy tank, and with a loud bang, sparks flew from the turret.
"All done!" Rosen slapped the control panel and let out a long sigh of relief.
Leng Feng took off his helmet, wiped the sweat from his brow, and said, "Hehe, you're pretty good at firing! Four shells hit three targets."
"Hehe, it was four shots, four hits," Rosen corrected, looking smug. "That shot just missed a vital spot, it wasn't a miss."
As they were talking, Rosen glanced at the drone controller beside him. The drone had already risen to about two hundred meters, and from the military camp in the distance, several vehicles were driving towards him, lined up in a row.
"Damn," Rosen's face changed, "Their reinforcements are on their way, how did they get here so fast?"
He stared at the screen and counted. There were only four cars at the closest, and four more things billowing black smoke in the distance, probably tanks. A chill ran down his spine. He turned to Leng Feng, "How do we fight?"
Rosen is a pure military enthusiast who likes to play with guns and cannons, but he has never been on the battlefield; everything he does is based on his imagination.
If Leng Feng hadn't been there, he would have definitely run away today. After all, there were tanks on the other side, and many enemies; he didn't want to experience what it felt like to be bombarded.
Leng Feng also leaned over to look at the screen, frowned, and said, "Keep your distance and kite them, leading them to fight around your junkyard. It's just that the tanks can't outrun those jeeps, and it'll be troublesome if they get entangled."
"A Jeep?" Rosen's eyes lit up. "I know these well, easy to handle. You drive first."
As he spoke, he picked up his hiking backpack, pulled out a drone, quickly attached bombs, opened the tank's top cover, and launched it. Hot air rushed in, carrying the smell of sand and gunpowder.
Leng Feng glanced at it out of the corner of his eye and casually asked, "Is that a VCR? What's that hanging down there?"
"A bomb," Rosen said without looking up, "very powerful, enough to give them a run for their money."
After speaking, Rosen put on the VR glasses, and the scene before him changed, showing the view from the VR drone. He piloted the drone to a high altitude, aimed at the jeep at the front, and accelerated. The drone was extremely fast, at 250 kilometers per hour, plunging downwards like a cannonball.
