Chapter 56 Hostage Rescue

If there weren't so many hostages and it wasn't a semi-enclosed environment, Rosen would have loved to just throw a grenade and blow those two out.

The hostages screamed and scattered, creating complete chaos. Ignoring the chaos, Leng Feng, gun in hand, approached the pillar step by step, shouting in English, "Put down your weapons and surrender, or you'll be shot on sight!"

Rosen remained vigilant, quietly circling around from the other side. Just as he was about to reach the flank of the pillar, two mercenaries simultaneously poked their hands out from either side of the pillar and fired blind shots! They didn't even dare to show their heads.

Leng Feng immediately ducked, bullets whizzing past him. Rosen, however, didn't hesitate and pulled the trigger directly at the outstretched hand.

boom! boom! boom!

Three bullets exploded in his palm, sending several fingers flying along with the pistol. A muffled groan came from behind the pillar, clearly someone suppressing pain.

Rosen quickened his pace, went around the pillar, and saw a strong white woman wearing a white baseball cap, covering her bloodied right hand with her left hand, glaring at him angrily, like a mother leopard cornered.

Rosen didn't even blink before raising his gun and firing another bullet into her forehead.

At the main entrance, two Black government soldiers, hearing the commotion, were about to rush back through the gate. Rosen opened fire the instant they pushed the door open—bang, bang! The two men fell to the ground, slumped against the doorframe, motionless.

When he turned around again, Leng Feng was already wrestling with a burly white man.

The burly man was nearly two meters tall, with a body full of muscles, and his arms were thicker than Leng Feng's thighs.

Although his movements were a little slow, he was incredibly resilient. Leng Feng kicked him in the inside of his thigh—but he didn't budge, as if he'd kicked a concrete pillar. Before he could react, Leng Feng jumped up and punched the burly man in the thick neck.

The burly man simply shook his head, as if he'd been bitten by a mosquito. With one hand raised, he grabbed Leng Feng's arm, which was trying to continue attacking him, like catching a chick. He bent down, grabbed Leng Feng's thigh with his other hand, and lifted him directly above his head!

Leng Feng felt a chill run down his spine—Oh no, this is going to kill me!

Just as the burly man was about to slam Leng Feng to the ground, he caught a glimpse of Rosen turning around with his gun in his hand.

He jumped in fright, quickly pulling Leng Feng into his arms—the position was so intimate it looked like a duet—then he lowered his head, shielding Leng Feng against his chest. Well, he was using a hostage as a bulletproof vest.

Rosen glanced at him and pulled the trigger without hesitation, aiming the bullet into Leng Feng's chest.

boom!

The bullet pierced through the burly man's two crossed arms, splattering blood. The remaining force struck Leng Feng in the chest; he felt as if he'd been lightly stabbed with a stick—a dull ache, but no real injury. The impact sent a chill down his spine, cold sweat pouring down his back.

The burly man hadn't expected that the lunatic opposite him would disregard even his own teammates and fire directly. He felt a sharp pain in both arms and immediately lost all strength. He could only hunch over, head down, and, taking advantage of Leng Feng still shielding him, try to run deeper into the hospital corridor.

Rosen raised his gun to give chase, but then heard hurried footsteps coming from the stairwell—the mercenaries upstairs had heard the commotion and were rushing down.

He could only turn his gun and aim at the corner of the stairs. Two black men who had just appeared were hit in the upper body and tumbled down the stairs.

Rosen remained vigilant—he remembered there was still an Asian mercenary upstairs who hadn't shown up.

"Hey, are you still alive?" Rosen asked without turning his head.

Leng Feng got up from the ground, rubbing his chest, both angry and annoyed: "It's nothing... Damn, I completely forgot about the bulletproof suit!"

Rosen chuckled. "Heh, you'll get used to it."

Leng Feng picked up his rifle and warily scanned every entrance around them. "Keep an eye on the hostages and make sure they're all there. Then find a car and take them all away."

Rosen shrugged indifferently and walked towards the group of hostages who were still huddled together, trembling. He smiled and waved to Zhuo Weixi in the crowd.

Zhuo Weixi's eyes reddened, and she staggered over, tears streaming down her face like a broken string of pearls. She watched as Rosen and another man burst through the window like gods descending from heaven, taking care of all the thugs in the hall in just a few seconds—in that instant, the tension she had been holding for hours finally snapped.

She threw herself into Rosen's arms and hugged him tightly, as if afraid he would disappear at any moment.

"Brother Sen... I was so scared... I thought... I thought..." Zhuo Weixi's sobs grew louder and louder, her tears soaking a large area of Rosen's shirt.

Rosen lowered his gun, gently patted her back, and said in a rare softer tone, "It's alright, it's nothing. I'm here."

Suddenly, Zhuo Weixi stood on tiptoe and pressed her lips against Rosen's face.

Feeling the woman trembling slightly in his arms and smelling her faint fragrance, Rosen's breathing gradually became hot.

"Hey—! That's enough, you two!" Leng Feng's emotionless voice was like a bucket of cold water poured over them. "Can't you wait until we leave here to get intimate?"

Zhuo Weixi exclaimed "Ah!" and her face turned so red it could fry an egg. She quickly hid behind Rosen, not daring to lift her head.

Rosen didn't seem to care, and smiled as he turned back to her, saying, "Alright, help me confirm the number of people, then find a car to take them away. It's not safe here anymore."

Zhuo Weixi nodded with a blush, then turned to go and check the headcount with Rachel.

Rosen ignored the two women who were organizing the crowd and assigning tasks.

Rosen drew his pistol, raised an eyebrow at Leng Feng, and said, "Go find that white guy on the first floor who just hugged you. I'll take care of the guy upstairs."

After saying that, he ignored Leng Feng's face, which was as black as the bottom of a pot, and went upstairs alone. He wanted to confirm—where exactly had that Asian mercenary who had gone upstairs earlier gone?

Upstairs, Rosen searched each room. When he reached the innermost ward, he noticed the west window was wide open, with a clear footprint on the window frame. He peered out—it was completely empty, not a soul in sight. There was a jumbled trail of marks on the ground outside the window, as if someone had jumped and run away.

It seems that Asian guy ran pretty fast.

After going downstairs, Leng Feng couldn't find the burly white man either.

Rosen slung his gun over his shoulder and chuckled, "These mercenaries are pretty fast." Then he went to collect the spoils from the ground.
