Farming Life Starting in Africa

Chapter 279 Sudden Attack

Lone Wolf shrugged slightly, looking completely at ease: "I'm not carrying any weapons, so I can't be of much help empty-handed."

"No problem!" Zhan You immediately perked up and said with a smile, "There's a small weapons museum in our town. There are a lot of old stuff in there. Take your pick, you're sure to find something you like."

After saying that, Zhan Gou turned and walked out, calling out as he went, "Hurry up, buddy! The luckiest thing today is running into you. With your help, those desperados will be scared out of their wits!"

No wonder the trench's confidence soared. He knew Lone Wolf's strength all too well. He was top-notch in both one-on-one and group battles, and was best at fighting outnumbered and suppressing a group of people by himself. With this old friend's help, the town's crisis was stabilized by more than half.

Lone Wolf shook his head helplessly, gestured to Guan Yuming and the others to indicate that they didn't need to worry about him, and then followed Zhanhao out of the restaurant to help with the defense.

The atmosphere inside the town visibly became tense, with everyone feeling anxious. However, the scene was completely different on the highway three kilometers outside the town.

Lawson leisurely finished his self-heating meal, cleaned up the trash, and then, on a whim, released a Toyota Coaster that had been modified and refurbished from Harry's parking lot earlier from his capsule space, intending to drive into the town to meet up with the main group.

The car started smoothly and had only driven a short distance along the highway towards the town when two all-black four-door Dodge Ram pickup trucks suddenly sped up from behind, seemingly intending to overtake it and continue on their way.

Rosen was easygoing today and didn't like to cut in front of other cars. He consciously slowed down and moved to the side of the road to let the other car go first.

As the two pickup trucks drove past him, he quickly glanced at the cargo area and immediately saw that it was full of fully armed, cold-faced gunmen.

After the vehicle in front passed smoothly, in the back of the following truck, a bald, burly man wearing sunglasses seemed to suddenly receive instructions through his earpiece. Without saying a word, he immediately raised his rifle and aimed it at Rosen's bus.

In an instant, Rosen felt a chill run down his spine, and alarm bells rang in his mind.

His Coaster was just a regular modified passenger transport vehicle, without any bulletproof features, and it couldn't withstand rifle fire at all.

In the critical moment, Rosen reacted with lightning speed. He jerked the steering wheel with one hand and instantly pulled a bulletproof scarf and face shield from his capsule space with the other, quickly putting them on to protect his head and face.

The next second, a burst of gunfire suddenly erupted!

Da da da da!

The violent bullets instantly shattered the windshield of the Toyota Coaster, sending glass shards flying everywhere. Several bullets struck Rosen squarely in the chest and abdomen, the impact causing him to stagger.

Rosen was furious, inwardly cursing. He'd been in the underworld for so long, and he was always the one ambushing others; when had he ever been ambushed like this? These mercenaries were utterly lawless lunatics!

He slammed on the brakes, bringing the vehicle to a complete stop on the road. Seeing this, two pickup trucks in front also stopped, and the gunmen inside prepared to get out and check to see if the occupants were alive.

But they didn't even have a chance to get close. Rosen reached into the capsule and pulled out an M240B general-purpose machine gun, mounted it steadily on the center console, aimed it at the two pickup trucks in front of him and the gunmen around him, and pulled the trigger without hesitation.

Thump-thump-thump-thump-thump—!

The deep, heavy, and oppressive roar of machine gun fire echoed across the wilderness. There were no fancy maneuvers, just pure firepower suppression; 7.62mm full-power rounds were unleashed in a frenzy.

In just over ten seconds, the crisp sound of an empty magazine being pulled away rang out, and he emptied his two hundred-round ammunition belt.

The scene before my eyes was like hell on earth. Two black pickup trucks were riddled with bullet holes and deformed. All the gunmen inside and outside the vehicles were lying on the ground, and the ground was littered with shell casings, pieces of flesh and bone fragments. The scene was extremely tragic.

Looking at the devastated battlefield, Rosen fell into a rare moment of deep thought, even harboring some self-doubt.

Should we switch to a less powerful weapon later? This isn't Africa; the M240's firepower is still too dominant compared to other machine guns.

Every time he finished shooting, it was a bloody scene like this. Seeing too much of it could easily give him nightmares. Although he had never dreamed of such bloody scenes before, he was still very old.

He got out of the car and carefully checked the two pickup trucks and all the fallen gunmen. After confirming that there were no survivors and completely eliminating the potential danger, he sighed helplessly.

I casually picked up the Toyota Coaster that had been smashed to pieces. It had only been out for a few minutes before it was scrapped and sent back to the factory for major repairs. It was truly unlucky.

Left with no other option, he had to activate the capsule space again and release an American version of a Honda Odyssey. The space was spacious enough to easily squeeze the entire team in; it was understated and perfect for traveling.

Rosen continued driving the Odyssey forward, smoothly for three kilometers, and officially entered the town of Sammerton. But as soon as he entered the town, he sensed that something was wrong; the entire area was deathly still and visibly tense.

Several abandoned vehicles were haphazardly parked in the middle of the main road, completely blocking the road and making it impossible for people to pass normally.

Rosen pulled over and looked at the roadblock ahead, a little confused and unsure of what was going on. He simply took out his phone and dialed Guan Yuming's number: "Hey, Brother Yuming, the main road in town is blocked by cars, and my car can't get in."

During the call, he keenly noticed behind the roadblock that a Mexican-American police officer wearing a cowboy hat was cautiously peering out from behind a car, watching the direction from which they were coming.

With food still in his mouth, Guan Yuming said slowly, "We just received a notification from the local sheriff that a dangerous fugitive is passing through the town, and the entire town's police force has been deployed to block the roads and set up defenses. By the way, Lone Wolf was also called by the sheriff to help guard the town."

Rosen was speechless for a moment, secretly thinking that this old guy's connections were too outrageous.

Even in this remote border town, you can run into old acquaintances who lend a hand. It's true that if you live long enough, you'll have friends all over the world and can find connections everywhere.

"Alright then." Rosen sighed helplessly. "I saw some police officers standing behind the roadblock. I'll ask them if they could make an exception and let me through to meet them."

"Be careful, don't get hurt by stray bullets," Guan Yuming thoughtfully reminded him.

After hanging up the phone, Rosen immediately took out his car's loudspeaker and shouted towards the roadblock ahead, "Officer on duty up ahead, I'm just an ordinary person passing through this town. I have no malicious intent. Could you please make way for me?"

Not long after the words were spoken, a long yellow school bus slowly drove up from the far end of the street and came to a steady stop beside the barricade. As soon as the door opened, Lone Wolf and Trench stepped out one after the other, each carrying an old Chicago typewriter. The contrast between the retro weapons and the current tense situation was striking.
