Ive turned his head and glanced at the group of people sitting outside. There were quite a few of them, all of them men except for one woman. There was definitely not enough food for them.

He immediately made the decision and whispered, "Then hurry up and go to Salazar's house to borrow some ingredients for making sandwiches, the sooner the better."

Christy looked troubled upon hearing this, and with a wry smile, reminded him, "Boss, have you forgotten? Mrs. Salazar is still angry with you. The matter of your dog peeing in her house last time hasn't been resolved yet. She probably won't be willing to lend it to us."

"Just say it's from Sheriff Ray!" Ive calmly advised, narrowing his eyes. "Just say Ray's been working hard lately, his appetite has increased, and he urgently needs some food. Mrs. Salazar will definitely lend it to you once she hears his name."

Christy rolled her eyes in exasperation. She really couldn't do anything about her boss, so she could only put down what she was doing and sneak out of the kitchen through the back door to borrow ingredients.

After Christie left, Ive simply took over the job himself, taking over the frying pan and methodically frying the signature bacon and cheese omelet. The sizzling sound of frying instantly filled the quiet little shop.

A moment later, the restaurant's wooden door was pushed open again. Ive thought it was Christy who had quickly borrowed the ingredients and was secretly relieved, but when he looked up, he realized it wasn't her at all. The person who came was none other than Sheriff Ray of the town.

The people who had been chatting in the shop all turned to look at the entrance, and the atmosphere became peaceful.

Only the lone wolf in the corner twitched violently at the corner of his eye. Outrageous! Absolutely outrageous! How could there be trenches in this desolate border town? This is just too incredible a coincidence.

As Zhanhao stepped into the restaurant, he noticed a bunch of unfamiliar faces. Just as he was about to ask what was going on, his gaze swept across the room and landed directly on Lone Wolf's weathered old face, instantly leaving him looking completely astonished.

"What the fcuk? Booker? What are you doing here?!" Zhan You blurted out a curse instinctively, his face full of disbelief. He really didn't expect to run into an old acquaintance in such a small place.

Guan Yuming, Fu Longsheng, and their group exchanged glances, feeling a bit amused and exasperated. They truly hadn't expected that this old loner, Lone Wolf, would have such a wide network of connections, even running into an old acquaintance in such a remote town.

Lone Wolf remained remarkably composed, his expression unchanged. "Just passing by, popped in for breakfast. By the way, I heard you're planning to run for governor. How's it going?"

Mentioning this, Zhanhao immediately became interested, quickly walked over to Lone Wolf, and said with a touch of emotion, "I have to take it one step at a time and first establish myself here. I previously got in touch with a bigwig in the Republican Party, and he has already promised to help me build momentum and slowly build up my popularity in a while."

After saying that, he curiously looked around at the people around Lone Wolf and asked, "And you? What are you doing here? Who are these friends?"

Lone Wolf's mind raced, and he instantly crafted a perfect story, speaking casually and naturally, without a single flaw: "They're all businessmen doing cross-border trade, traveling together along the way. I took on their bodyguard job and was planning to visit Barney while I was there; I heard he was injured recently."

"You're injured? That's great!" Trench suddenly remembered something and asked in surprise, "I've never heard of you and Barney being this close. Didn't you two used to get along?"

"I'm not young anymore." Lone Wolf waved his hand, his tone indifferent. "Those old grudges and messy conflicts from when we were young should have been let go long ago. There's no need to hold onto them."

Upon hearing this, Zhan You's lips twitched involuntarily. He knew Lone Wolf and Barney too well; these two had never had a peaceful encounter before, with a long list of grudges and entanglements. Barney's reckless and fiery nature had caused Lone Wolf no shortage of trouble in the past. Had these two reconciled? He didn't believe a word of it.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Zhanhao suddenly remembered the serious reason he had come. He instantly dropped his casual demeanor and turned to everyone in the shop, loudly reminding them, "Hey guys, urgent notice! A dangerous fugitive is about to pass through our town. It's not safe here. Everyone, don't linger outside, go home and take shelter immediately!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the restaurant fell into a deathly silence. Everyone stared at him, and no one stood up. The scene was both awkward and funny.

Guan Yuming and his group were completely bewildered, their faces full of confusion.

They were all puzzled. Why should the whole town be placed under martial law and everyone be on the lookout just because he was a fugitive?

Could it be that some incredibly ruthless person is passing by, comparable to the unkillable Jason Voorhees? Is he here to massacre the town?

Meanwhile, the two old men at the bar remained remarkably calm, leisurely sipping their beers, completely unmoved, as if they hadn't heard the warning at all.

"Didn't you all hear what I said? Move a little!" Zhan You raised his voice, feeling a bit overwhelmed, seeing that everyone was still motionless.

Sam, the elderly Black man, slowly put down his beer glass, his tone lazy and calm: "Sheriff, we just ordered breakfast and haven't even had a bite yet. How can we just leave like this?"

The soldier in the trench was immediately rendered speechless and could only helplessly explain, "I'm doing this for your personal safety! It's really dangerous!"

Harry, the elderly white man, leaned back comfortably in his chair, glanced up at the trenches, and spoke slowly with a hint of mockery in his voice: "Look closely, the person standing in front of you is a seventy-two-year-old man. And my cholesterol is frighteningly high; I even ordered a double bacon and cheese omelet today. Do you think someone my age and in this physical condition would be afraid of dying?"

Zhanhou was speechless on the spot, and didn't know how to respond.

Sam, standing nearby, shrugged at the opportune moment and added a line that immediately breached the trench's defenses: "Don't look at me, I ordered exactly the same thing as him."

Completely at a loss, Zhanhou turned to Aifu, who was still busy making omelets, trying to find a way to back down: "Aif, where's Christy? I haven't seen her anywhere."

While busy with his work, Ive replied with a smile, "We're running out of ingredients, so I asked her to borrow some from Mrs. Salazar's house to tide us over."

Zhanhao was utterly speechless upon hearing this, truly exasperated by the town's laid-back residents. He turned to Guan Yuming and his group, earnestly instructing them: "Whether you're passing through or on vacation, stay in the shop and try to stay away from the windows. There's a high probability of a firefight soon, so find good cover and stay put to avoid being accidentally hit."

After saying that, he turned his gaze to Lone Wolf, his tone pleading: "Buddy, how about you lend me a hand? I only have three rookies under my command, with little combat experience. If they encounter those fully armed desperados, they probably won't be able to hold the line."
