Farming Life Starting in Africa

Chapter 212 Guan Yuming?

Christmas turned her head and looked down. The all-white space capsule had landed, and in the twilight it looked like a precisely placed metal module, the material of the capsule reflecting a soft silver luster in the setting sun.

"Barney, is that a house? It doesn't look like one."

Barney said enviously, "I heard it was a gift from the Chinese developer. These kinds of houses are already in use in many places in China, but I wonder how comfortable they are to live in."

Christmas clicked his tongue, repeating Barney's earlier comment, "It's good to be rich!"

Then he lightly tapped the control stick, and the plane smoothly veered slightly, adjusting its course towards the southwest.

The flight altitude continued to increase, and the details of the ground were gradually diminishing. The figures of people working on the construction site were no longer clearly visible. "You can be good friends with him, Barney. If your farm's output can't cover your expenses in the future, you can partner with him or borrow money from him. He doesn't seem like someone who's short of money."

Barney's face darkened as he listened. "Shut up!"

This guy actually started cursing him for losing money before his farm even opened. If Barney hadn't been flying the plane, he would have wanted to use the guy's mouth to test how sharp his knife was.

The sound of the albatross's engine gradually narrowed into a continuous low hum on the horizon, and was finally completely drowned out by the sound of the evening wind and the friction of the treetops.

Rosen stood in front of the newly landed space capsule door, watching the plane's taillights flash a few times at the edge of the horizon before disappearing into the folds of twilight.

He withdrew his gaze and turned to face the silver-white metal module. It stood quietly on the gentle slope, its four supporting legs embedded in the compacted ground.

He reached out and touched the sensor area by the door. The hatch made a soft click, the sound of the latch retracting smoothly and discreetly filtered by the electronic components.

The door opened. The entrance space was more spacious than he had expected, with built-in shoe cabinets and storage cabinets on one side. The other wall concealed the electrical distribution box, water purification equipment, air conditioner outdoor unit, and the core modules of the whole-house control system.

He took a few steps inside, passed through an inconspicuous transition area, and the bedroom came into view. A large bed, measuring 1.8 meters by 2 meters, occupied the main space, and brand-new bedding had already been arranged.

The large bed is right next to a floor-to-ceiling window. The window glass is dark, and the darkening sky outside creates a mirror-like effect on the glass surface, where you can vaguely see your own silhouette superimposed on the backs of the workers finishing their shifts in the distance.

He turned and walked into the living room, looking around. The sofa, coffee table, cushions, and carpet were still fixed to the walls and floor, and the workers would have to come in to remove the fasteners.

The touch panel was embedded in the wall, almost flush with it. He tried the voice control, and the room's lighting switched between cool and warm tones. The curtains automatically closed, completely shutting out the construction site outside.

Another panel displays the indoor temperature, humidity, and air quality, with a small green dot around the edge indicating that everything is normal.

Further inside is the bathroom. It features a one-piece molded ceramic countertop, a floating washbasin, and a ring of fine LED beads around the edge of the mirror that illuminates with a uniform cool white light when a person approaches.

The smart toilet lid automatically opens when he approaches, and the thermostatic shower head has finely engraved scales on the water temperature adjustment knob, with uniform resistance when turned. However, since it has just been plugged in and the water is not yet connected, many functions cannot be used.

He walked into the kitchen area, where the quartz countertop was as smooth as a mirror, and the glass panel of the built-in induction cooktop reflected the light from the concealed overhead LED strip. When the refrigerator door opened, the interior light turned on, illuminating the spacious interior.

Microwave, sink, overhead cabinets—everything is ready.

The interior of this capsule offers the ultimate in comfort, making Rosen's stay here much more comfortable.

Night had completely fallen outside, and the safety lights in the construction area outside the floor-to-ceiling windows cast sparse patches of light on the ground, indicating that the workers were working in three shifts.

He was standing by the window, looking through the panoramic glass at the lake in the distance, which was submerged in the night, when the doorbell rang.

Rosen went over and opened the door. The person outside made him pause for a moment; the man was wearing a dark jacket, stood casually, and had some silver in his hair.

"You must be Xiao Luo. My name is Guan Yuming, and I'm Deng Mei's cousin. Xiao Mei and Xiao Da have mentioned me to you, haven't they?"

Looking at that face, Rosen felt that he might have crossed over with the old policeman character in "The Shadow Chaser," but the name didn't quite match.

However, he wasn't too bothered by it. This big shot was quite the drama queen, after all, the guy standing at the door was Furniture Man.

Guan Yuming looked at him, his expression showing no impatience, he simply stood there waiting, his eyebrows slightly raised.

After about three or four seconds, Rosen came to his senses and stepped aside to let the doorway open. "Hello, Uncle Ming. Aunt Mei mentioned you to me. I was just lost in thought and pretended not to notice. Please come in and sit down."

Rosen tried to sound natural, but his form of address made Guan Yuming pause for a moment.

Guan Yuming is a generation older than Qian Bida and Deng Mei, so it's not quite right for Rosen to call him "uncle" according to seniority.

But Guan Yuming didn't pay any attention. He walked in and quickly scanned the interior layout.

"This place is nice. Did you buy it?"

Rosen was standing in front of the refrigerator. He opened the empty door and peeked inside. Sure enough, there was nothing there.

He closed the refrigerator door, turned around, and said, "A friend gave it to me; it just arrived. Sorry, this house was just delivered, there isn't even a bottle of water inside!"

Guan Yuming sat down on the edge of the sofa, his posture relaxed. "It's nothing, I just happened to be passing by."

As Rosen sat down opposite him, the word "Uncle Ming" slipped out again, and he realized that the generational order was indeed a bit off.

Guan Yuming waved his hand, his tone amiable: "It's fine to call me Uncle Ming. We can address each other as we are. You call me Uncle, and I'll call you Xiao Luo. It doesn't matter."

Guan Yuming didn't care about these things. He had traveled all over the country over the years and had seen all kinds of people. It was just a title, and it wasn't important.

He looked at Rosen and, without any preamble, went straight to the point: "Regarding my collaboration with Xiaoda, he said you should also join. So, when do you plan to invest your share?"

"I'm available anytime; the money is ready."

Guan Yuming's gaze lingered on his face for a moment. Qian Bida had told him where Rosen's money came from—gold seized from African rebels.
