Death Train: SSS-level talent right from the start!

Chapter 123 [Mirror City] One Night Unremarkable

Wen Ning and Zhou Yating sat down in front of the tent.

The night was darker.

The night in Mirror City was windless and silent, as quiet as a city forgotten by time.

"You and Chen Ye knew each other before?"

Wen Ning broke the silence first, turning her head to look at Zhou Yating.

"We are classmates."

Zhou Yating's gaze fell on the mirror.

Wen Ning nodded slightly: "Your class is quite lucky, producing several outstanding individuals. Gu Qinghuan is also from your class, right?"

"Hmm." Zhou Yating nodded: "Gu Qinghuan is in our class. She doesn't talk to people much. Her talent rating should be very high. If it weren't for her in the second survival trial, we might have died long ago."

"Those who can keep a low profile are often not simple."

Wen Ning withdrew her gaze and looked back at the mirror.

The two chatted casually in the night, their conversation ranging from team composition to talent ratings, and from talent ratings to their previous trial experiences.

Wen Ning talked about how her teammates on that train died one by one, and Zhou Yating talked about her experiences in the Ghost City and how Chen Ye broke the illusion and led everyone to survive.

Three more hours passed.

The mirror remained completely still.

The sound of a tent zipper coming from the side.

Chen Ye emerged from the tent; he was alone, Qin Zhaoyang hadn't come out.

Wen Ning glanced at Chen Ye, then at Zhou Yating: "You should go and rest first."

Zhou Yating nodded, stood up from the ground, dusted off her clothes, and crawled back into the tent behind her.

Wen Ning walked up to Chen Ye.

"Zhaoyang isn't awake yet?"

She asked a question.

"Yeah, I can manage on my own." Chen Ye sat down on the open ground in front of the tent, his gaze falling on the mirror. "You should go and rest too."

"I'll stay with you. I slept for a while, that's enough."

As Wen Ning spoke, she naturally sat down next to him. The distance between the two was less than half a step, with only a fist's width of space between their shoulders.

Chen Ye glanced at her sideways but didn't say anything.

Night spread around the two of them, and the silver six-pointed star above their heads slowly rotated, casting a silvery halo on the ground.

Wen Ning looked at the quiet oval mirror not far away: "It seems that no more elite monsters will come out of that mirror. We've been guarding it for so long and there's been no reaction at all."

"Then we'll have to find other mirrors tomorrow. There should be quite a few like these in Mirror City. We have two days, that should be enough."

"I'm afraid that all one hundred marks will be taken by someone else soon."

"Then we'll have to find other passengers who have survived."

Chen Ye spoke in a very calm tone, but Wen Ning noticed that his brows furrowed slightly.

Wen Ning looked at him, remained silent for a moment, and then said, "You don't seem to want to take that step."

Chen Ye did not answer immediately, and turned his gaze away from the mirror: "It's all about survival. I don't want to kill other passengers unless absolutely necessary."

Wen Ning didn't say anything more, but just sat quietly next to him.

The night was so quiet that the two of them could hear each other breathing.

Wen Ning glanced at Chen Ye, then quickly looked away.

In her view, killing to steal the mark is not easy. Those with strength have banded together, and those without strength who are lucky enough to obtain the mark have definitely gone into hiding.

It's not realistic to try to block the station; there are two hours to return to the station after the trial ends.

No one would be foolish enough to return to the station early with the marks of survival on their body.

The two of them sat there, looking at the quiet mirror, spending their first night in Mirror City.

……

Three hours later.

The sky was bright.

The gray-white sky turned from dark white back to bright white, and even light spread across the entire Mirror City.

The mirrored walls began to reflect images again, and the outlines of the buildings on both sides of the street overlapped and extended in countless mirrors.

Chen Ye stood up from the ground and stretched his body.

Wen Ning also stood up, her dark brown curly hair cascading over her shoulders. She reached out and smoothed her hair, glancing sideways at Chen Ye: "It seems like nothing will really come out."

"Then let's look elsewhere. We must ensure everyone receives a survival mark today."

Chen Ye's gaze shifted from the quiet oval mirror.

The sound of a tent zipper coming audible behind me.

Qin Zhaoyang yawned as he crawled out of the tent, his eyes not fully open, his hair sticking up in a mess, and his face looking dazed as if he had just woken up.

He spotted Chen Ye and Wen Ning standing outside the tent, paused for a moment, then scratched his head somewhat awkwardly: "Brother Ye, sorry, I slept too soundly last night."

Wen Ning glanced at him, a slight smile playing on her lips: "To be able to sleep so soundly in this kind of environment is a talent, it deserves an S-level rating. I kept watch for you last night."

Qin Zhaoyang quickly turned to Wen Ning, his tone sincere: "Thank you, Sister Wen."

Wen Ning smiled slightly: "You're welcome."

Zhou Yating, Zhao Hai, Wang Shuo, and Li Zheng also emerged from the tent one after another, and they all looked to be in good spirits.

After tidying up, everyone put the tent back into the storage space.

"Let's go."

Chen Ye strode forward.

Zhao Hai followed on his left, Wen Ning walked on his right, and Qin Zhaoyang and the other three followed behind.

A group of seven people traveled through the streets of Mirror City.

Just as Li Tianran said, with fewer people, there will be fewer faceless people in the mirror.

A few scattered birds emerged from different directions.

Chen Ye, Zhao Hai, and Wen Ning began to hold back, leaving the opportunity to kill Qin Zhaoyang, Zhou Yating, Wang Shuo, and Li Zheng behind them as much as possible.

Qin Zhaoyang fired one explosive arrow after another, a pale red halo burning on the surface of the arrows, accurately piercing the head of the faceless man, and the sound of explosions rang out densely in the street.

His kill points were gradually increasing, but his head was still bald, without the six-pointed star cursor.

Zhou Yating's ice arrow technique continued without pause. Ice-blue arrows shot from her fingertips, piercing the wounds on the faceless men that Qin Zhaoyang had already blasted open. The ice crystals exploded from the inside, tearing the monsters' bodies apart from within.

Her kill points are also increasing, and there's still no space above her head.

With Zhao Hai holding them back, Wang Shuo and Li Zheng also had opportunities to make their moves. Although their efficiency was low, they were still able to get a few kills.

The group walked along the street for nearly two hours, clearing out seven or eight waves of faceless people, but no one else gained a survival mark.

As Qin Zhaoyang fired his explosive arrow, he muttered, "Sister Wen gets marks from killing ordinary monsters, but we've killed so many, why haven't we gotten any?"

"I'm blessed with incredible luck."

Wen Ning uttered four words.

Qin Zhaoyang's lips twitched: "As long as we encounter elite monsters, Sister Wen can get the survival mark 100% of the time. This good luck should be given to us noobs. We're strong and lucky, but are we leaving no room for others to live?"

Zhou Yating walked past him, glancing at him sideways: "Sister Wen is lucky, we're unlucky. But that doesn't mean we'll always be unlucky, we'll just keep playing."

Wang Shuo slung the axe over his shoulder and took a breath: "The squad leader is right, we can't give up just because we're unlucky. Anyway, we still have two days, we'll be able to get one eventually."

Chen Ye walked at the front, his eyes constantly scanning the buildings on both sides of the street and the mirrored walls.

He was looking for a mirror, one of those oval mirrors that stood alone on the street.

Elite monsters will emerge from those mirrors.

His mark was obtained by killing the Mirror Demon, while Zhao Hai's mark was obtained by killing the Mirror Guard. This is enough to show that killing elite monsters will definitely give you a survival mark.

There's a square ahead.

Zhao Hai's voice came from Chen Ye's left.
