Warden of the Beast World: Everyone is a Hakimi
Chapter 75: 3 Children's Songs
Ye Tang suddenly remembered the prop shop. In her prop shop was a prop that she had studied for a long time but could not figure out: "Three Hundred Children's Songs".
She had complained at the time about why the system had given her a nursery rhyme book, since she didn't have any cubs to soothe. But now, looking at the dragon clan leader in front of her, who had smashed his head against the wall and was bleeding profusely, she suddenly had a bold guess.
In Stephen Chow's movies, 300 nursery rhymes can ward off evil spirits, a last resort. She clicked the icon of the nursery rhyme book in her inventory, and the book transformed into a soft golden light that merged into her consciousness. At the same time, her voice brightened slightly, as if blessed by some magical power. She cleared her throat and began to hum softly through the glass wall.
"A gentle breeze, a bright moon, leaves shading the window..."
Her voice echoed softly in the empty corridor. This body already possessed a beautiful voice, and with the added enhancement of the props, her singing was as gentle as a cool breeze passing through a courtyard on an early summer night.
Qi Xuan's ramming motion paused for a moment, his icy blue vertical pupils blank for a split second. But his berserk state quickly regained its advantage; he shook his head and slammed it against the wall again. Ye Tang didn't stop, continuing to sing.
"Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are..."
Qi Xuan's frequency of slamming into the wall decreased. Originally, he slammed into it several times per second, but gradually it became only once every few seconds. He seemed to be trapped by something incomprehensible, and the tug-of-war between the destructive force that drove him mad and the unfamiliar song in his ears was raging within his body.
"Amen, in front of the grapevine, in front of the green field, just sprouting..."
Ye Tang sang with increasing passion. And you have to admit, this body really did sing well, much better than the microphones she couldn't get in karaoke in her previous life.
She sang one song after another, pulling out all the children's songs in her head, from "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to "The Little Insects Fly," from "The Snail and the Oriole" to "Little Rabbit, Be Good." Eventually, she forgot she was doing a task and became completely immersed in her own mini-concert.
When she finished singing her last song and her throat was a little dry, she was about to stop and take a sip of water when she noticed that the raging dragon behind the glass wall had calmed down.
He stopped banging his head against the wall, curled up into a tiny ball, and lay prone against the glass wall, dragging his long tail. His body was only the size of a palm, much smaller than when she first saw him; it was an extremely energy-efficient cub form.
His dragon horns shrank, becoming like two crystal-clear, ice-blue grains of rice stuck to his forehead, while his four little paws were obediently tucked under his body. His ice-blue vertical pupils were still fixed on her, but the empty madness within them was no longer replaced by a faint, timid clarity.
"Hello, friends inside, how are you?" Ye Tang waved to the inside of the glass wall with a bright smile.
Qi Xuan did not respond, remaining quietly lying by the wall. His current state of mind was probably only a small part of his normal state, mostly driven by the instincts of a young beast, but he no longer roared or rammed against the wall.
Ye Tang took a sip of water. She had petted felines, canines, birds, and fish before, but this was her first time petting a reptile. The little gecko was curled up in such a tiny ball, its tail obediently tucked to its side, its little horns crystal clear, its scales sparkling. It was so much cuter than when it had gone crazy earlier.
"Hungry..." A weak, childlike murmur came from behind the glass wall. Qi Xuan opened his mouth, his small dragon horns trembling slightly under the light. His icy blue vertical pupils were no longer filled with madness and emptiness, but with pure, cub-like hunger.
He curled himself up into a ball the size of a palm, his tail obediently curled at his side, his four little paws placed side by side on the glass wall, and looked up at Ye Tang pitifully.
Ye Tang's heart was struck hard. This tiny dragon in its cub form was telling her it was hungry. If she could resist, she wouldn't be a qualified zookeeper.
She happened to have a baby bottle in her inventory, one she'd gotten from the prop shop. She'd been wondering why the first item on the first shelf of the prop shop was a baby bottle. It looked ordinary—a transparent bottle filled with a milky white liquid; you could see the liquid slowly flowing down the sides when you shook it. But the system wouldn't give her a useless item for no reason. Qi Xuan was in his cub form, and she'd just managed to restore his cub-like sanity by singing him a nursery rhyme, so this bottle of milk would come in handy.
She completely forgot Lu Yu's instructions. The food delivery slot could only hold nutritional supplements, not baby bottles, so it was only natural for her to open the safety door.
Ye Tang swiped the security door and squatted down in front of Qi Xuan. The little dragon, shrunken to the size of a palm, looked up at her, its icy blue vertical pupils reflecting her approaching face. It didn't attack or roar; it just lay there quietly, its tail tip twitching slightly.
Ye Tang picked Qi Xuan up from the ground. The texture was exactly as she had imagined: cool and smooth, with a slightly rough edge to the scales, like touching jade that had been washed by a stream for thousands of years.
Qi Xuan curled up in her palm, finding the most comfortable position, then tilted his head back and opened his mouth. She handed him the bottle, and the little dragon immediately took the nipple in his mouth and began to suckle vigorously. The milky white beast milk decreased at a visible rate, and the entire bottle was soon empty.
At the same time, Ye Tang noticed that the empty space in the spatial item shop that had previously held the baby bottle lit up, and a new bottle of beast milk appeared intact in its original spot. It really was automatically restocked, just like her supermarket.
After Qi Xuan swallowed the last mouthful of milk, Ye Tang reached out and gently poked his bulging little belly. "Little guy, you can eat quite a lot." A bottle of beast milk doesn't seem like much, but with his current palm-sized size, after drinking a whole bottle, his belly swelled up like a small glutinous rice ball.
Qi Xuan let out a burp, then slowly climbed up her arm with his four little paws, over her wrist, over her sleeve, and finally stopped at her shoulder. He straightened up, leaned close to her cheek, and gently touched her skin with the tip of his cool nose, then gave her a big kiss.
"Sister, Xiangxiang likes it..."
Ye Tang clenched her fist and whispered. She'd lived for over twenty years, petting cats, dogs, birds, and fish, and now she'd unlocked a new species. And it was a talking, affectionate, kissing, and calling her "sister" SS-level dragon cub form. Who could resist that?
"Be good, I'll come see you again tomorrow." Ye Tang gently took Qi Xuan off her shoulder and placed him back on the soft cushion in the observation area. The little dragon reluctantly hooked her finger with its tail, then obediently curled up into a ball and closed its eyes.
After finishing a pile of military documents, Lu Yu rubbed his aching temples and walked into the central observation room. He habitually turned on the surveillance footage, then his hand, holding a coffee cup, froze in mid-air.
On the live feed from Observation Zone 5, Ye Tang was crouching inside the zone, cradling the berserk dragon that had baffled the entire Imperial Sanatorium and required several elite military units to subdue.
Qi Xuan curled up into a tiny ball in her palm, obediently sucking on a baby bottle and gulping down his milk. She even poked his bulging little belly, but instead of attacking her, he climbed up her arm to her shoulder and kissed her.
Lu Yu placed the coffee cup on the control panel, took off her gold-rimmed glasses, wiped them with a cloth, and put them back on. She then watched the surveillance footage again. Ye Tang was still lively and energetic, and Qi Xuan was still quietly nestled in her hand.
At least the Marshal and the others were still rational when they went to prison; they could communicate and eat. He could attribute Ye Tang's success to her boldness, meticulousness, good skills, and natural affinity for furry creatures. But Qi Xuan was different.
His mental power was completely corrupted by the Fallen Beast three years ago, and his consciousness should have been consumed by the berserk state long ago. Not to mention Ye Tang, a double F-level female who has only come of age a few months ago, even if Dean An Ning came in person and joined forces with the seven S-level therapists from back then, they could only barely suppress his rampaging mental field. That's why the military dispatched troops to lock him in a specially made box and send him here.
He had only been busy for a short while and hadn't checked the surveillance footage, yet this huge, completely berserk, out-of-control SS-class dragon was calmed down by his audacious little warden.
Lu Yu stared at Ye Tang poking Qi Xuan's stomach on the surveillance footage, remaining silent for a long while. How many more surprises did his little warden hold that he didn't know about?
