The Age of the Wolf Pack Tyrant
Chapter 5: Get Guns! We absolutely must get guns!
The armed robbers had completely taken control of the first floor. All the arrested customers were gathered in the center of the lobby and guarded by two armed robbers, one on each side.
The remaining dozen or so thugs, now free to fight, seemed intent on taking control of the entire building.
The investigation has already begun, starting from the first floor and moving upwards.
The bandits split into three groups: those using stairs, escalators, and elevators, blocking all escape routes.
"Shouldn't robbery be about grabbing what you need and running away, prioritizing efficiency and speed? This group's actions don't resemble a robbery at all; it's more like they're using this place as a base. This is really a huge problem."
Chen Jun's thoughts raced like lightning, and he grew increasingly uneasy.
In order to find out what the bandits were up to, he risked climbing forward another half step until his head touched the railing of the corridor, and peered out into the opposite corridor on the second floor.
Two armed robbers were spotted at a glance, already searching the second floor.
Perhaps to improve the efficiency of the search, the two bandits did not walk together, but instead searched separately on the left and right, moving from both sides to the other side.
The mall's corridors are circular and interconnected, with shops lined up one after another along the corridors.
The armed robbers searched very thoroughly, going into every shop to search carefully, rather than just glancing at the outside. They wouldn't let go of any place where people might be hiding.
They would even shoot a few shots into a wall that sounded hollow when they knocked on it.
If anyone were to hide behind these walls, they would definitely be riddled with bullets.
Under this highly efficient search method, everyone hiding in the shops was found and driven to the first floor for unified management.
"The division of labor is clear and orderly. These guys are not ordinary people. They must be organized and premeditated. They are veterans who specialize in this business. There might even be veterans among them."
Chen Jun's brows furrowed into a deep frown, his psychological pressure suddenly increasing.
Not long after the Sino-Vietnamese War in the 90s, a large number of veterans returned to society, and many of them went astray.
Their individual strength is so great that it needs no further explanation.
The core strength of the most notorious gang in Hong Kong, the Big Circle Gang, is mainly composed of these veterans.
It's not the brutality of the bandits that's frightening, but their professionalism.
Chen Jun's heart leaped into his throat uncontrollably. He realized that simply hiding wouldn't allow him to escape; even hiding in the latrine would lead to him being found.
"They searched separately, one on each side. Could we hide somewhere and launch a surprise attack when they come over? Seize their guns? If I have a gun, I'll have a trump card to save my life."
Chen Jun, relying on his violent abilities, wanted to seize a gun by his own skill, but he rejected the idea the next second.
"No, no, that's too risky. I have brute strength, but I haven't learned any fighting techniques, and I've never fought someone with a gun. My combat experience is zero, and the chances of me getting a gun are too low."
Chen Jun was absolutely confident in his strength. He was confident that he could easily defeat any of the bandits if both sides were fighting hand-to-hand.
But having a gun is a completely different concept; no matter how strong your muscles are, they can't withstand bullets.
Not to mention that Chen Jun has no combat experience and cannot be sure whether his reaction speed can be faster than the bandits'. He also cannot be sure whether his clever plan to hide and ambush will be seen through by the bandits and turned into mincemeat.
They have no way to make accurate judgments, to control the other party in time, and to successfully take away the gun before the other party shoots them dead.
This is the disadvantage of lacking practical experience!
Without specific examples in mind, there are no measurable points, making it impossible to make accurate judgments.
It's like having a sturdy crowbar but never using it to pry anything. When faced with a heavy object, you can't make an accurate judgment about whether you can pry it up. Trying rashly could easily break the crowbar.
Once the stick breaks, it's broken.
If Chen Jun's plan fails, he could lose his life.
Perhaps to confirm that Chen Jun's idea was correct, just as Chen Jun decided to give up the idea of ambushing and seizing the gun, a battle broke out on the second floor below.
A customer hid in a clothing store, using the clothes racks as cover, and used a fruit knife to ambush an armed robber.
Judging from the customer's hiding place, the timing of his attack, and his skill and gait, he is no ordinary person; he must be from the military.
But he still failed!
The customer's sneak attack was very successful; he stabbed the robber in the stomach with one stroke.
However, the bandits were all ruthless. The stab was as if it hadn't happened. They kicked out with their backhand, knocking the customer to the ground. Then they fired a burst of bullets, leaving the customer bleeding profusely on the ground.
The entire process lasted only two or three seconds, yet it was filled with danger and bloodshed.
"Those who come from the military and carry fruit knives always end up like this. If it were someone like me who's untrained, wouldn't I be killed before I even get close?"
Chen Jun felt a chill run through him; a cold sensation shot from his heels up his spine to the top of his head.
No, we absolutely cannot fight them head-on!!
A strong sense of crisis spurred Chen Jun on. Most people would panic in this situation, but Chen Jun did not; his mind became clearer than before.
Chen Jun's years of experience fighting his own "mental illness" have turned misfortune into a blessing, giving him a stress resistance far exceeding that of ordinary people.
"There are bandits both above and below, and they kill without batting an eye. They are all ruthless and vicious. If we just try to hide, we will only die. If we want to survive and hold out until our uncles rush in to rescue us, we have to find a way to fight back, and we need to get a gun to be safe."
Oh, right, it would be even better if we could find Xing Tian and join him. His brother is a bodyguard in Zhonghai, and he studied under his brother for a few months. He must have some skills, and cooperating with him would be entirely beneficial.
We also need to find Old Ding. Three heads are better than one. If the three of us can get a gun, find a corridor and hold it, then we'll basically have it in the bag.
"Should we call and ask? No, if they hadn't been arrested, they'd probably be hiding by now. If the phone rings, we're doomed."
Thinking of this, Chen Jun realized that his phone was not on silent, so he quickly took it out.
After putting my phone on silent mode, I sent a text message to Xing Tian and Lao Ding, asking where they were and reminding them to put their phones on silent.
Having dealt with the potential for major problems, Chen Jun suddenly remembered something.
When the three of them were browsing on the fourth floor, Xing Tian was interested in daggers and weapons, so he went to an outdoor equipment store and looked around for a long time.
That store not only had a lot of outdoor products, but also a large number of self-defense tools that could be used outdoors.
Leaving aside knives and the like, Chen Jun clearly remembered that on the wall behind the cashier, there was a crossbow with an arrow attached.
