Unreliable Sword Immortal.

Chapter 204 Black Qilin

[Unreliable Building Blueprint: A special item, already bound. After use by the sect leader player Lu Chaoding, an unreliable building can be constructed within the territory of a reliable sword sect. Unreliable buildings are special modified versions of regular buildings. Using this blueprint will randomly alter the functions of one of the regular sect buildings, such as the Divine Weapon Pavilion, Scripture Pavilion, or Sword Pavilion, and construct it. Please explore the details yourself.]

"I like the random modification function. Conventional buildings are so boring. But if my reliable sword sect continues to develop like this, it will probably become an unreliable sword sect."

Lu Chaoding saw the mission reward and was very much looking forward to it.

The nine elders of Qilin Cliff were also extremely happy at this moment, and they regarded Lu Chao as their benefactor.

The Nine-Scaled Calamity Mirror was the most precious treasure of Qilin Cliff, but it had long been destroyed. For these nine elders, its value was obviously greater than that of the Qilin Secret Treasure. Losing ten Qilin Secret Treasures in exchange for 36 Nine-Scaled Calamity Mirrors was a huge gain.

"From now on, Sect Leader Lu will be a distinguished guest of Qilin Cliff. This gift is presented to Sect Leader Lu, and Qilin Cliff welcomes Sect Leader Lu to visit us at any time!"

The Grand Elder Xiang Tianming gave Lu Chao a token, a special three-star pendant called the Qilin Cave Heaven Talisman. Equipping it would open a passage to or from the Qilin Secret Realm.

Lu Chaoding readily accepted, and then chatted and laughed with the nine elders of Qilin Cliff, mostly about Xiang Ruyan and Xiang Rudan.

After learning about Xiang Rudan's background, the nine elders were quite moved and frowned. However, they were still very open-minded and regarded Xiang Rudan as a junior, feeling great sympathy for him. After learning about his talent, this sympathy turned into affection. The eldest elder, Xiang Tianming, even issued a notice directly, selecting Xiang Rudan as the new generation of Qilin Cliff's Qilin Child.

With the fall of the Nine Scales, the younger generation of Qilin Cliff is a mixed bag, and in the present day there is only Xiang Rudan as the Qilin prodigy. It is impossible to find a new Nine Scales in the short term.

After Xiang Rudan was sent to a cave called "Qilin Ancestral Land" by the nine elders, Lu Chaoding received a system message that the storyline of "Legend of the Nine Scales" had come to a complete end. Although Xiang Rudan had returned to Qilin Cliff, he was still considered a member of a reliable sword sect. The system gave him the position of "Qilin Elder of a Reliable Sword Sect". At the same time, Lu Chaoding also gained the friendship of Qilin Cliff. The nine elders also gave him a lot of high-level materials, which made Lan E and the others very satisfied.

Of course, Xiang Rudan probably won't leave Qilin Cliff anytime soon. According to the nine elders, he needs to receive the inheritance of the Qilin clan in the Qilin Ancestral Land. This process will take time, ranging from three months to three years. Before he receives the inheritance, he cannot leave the Qilin Ancestral Land.

"Alright, let him receive the inheritance here. My mission is complete. Now it's time to return to the sect and figure out how to deal with Daozang Kong."

Just as Lu Chao was about to head back, the nine elders found him again. The eldest elder, Xiang Tianming, said, "Sect Leader Lu, to be honest, a black Qilin has infiltrated our Qilin Cliff. This Qilin is not one of our kind, its origin is unknown, and it is extremely powerful. It claims to be the Qilin Master and has been causing trouble here for several days. Now, we want to go and suppress this fiend, and we sincerely invite Sect Leader Lu to attend the ceremony."

"Black Qilin..."

After entering the Qilin Cliff Cave Heaven, Lu Chaoding had heard a lot about the black Qilin. He thought it must be a BOSS and related to some plot. Hearing the elder's words, he nodded and said, "Okay, let's go take a look."

A moment later, Lu Chaoding saw the black Qilin.

The NPCs at Qilin Cliff are all humanoid, and in the setting, they are aliens of the Qilin clan. Their living habits in terms of clothing, food, housing and transportation are not much different from those of humans. However, this black Qilin is a Qilin beast, as big as a rhinoceros. Its whole body is covered with black and gold scales, it has a pair of dragon horns on its head, black mane on its neck, a body shape like an ox, and it looks a bit fat. Its limbs are very thick, its head is a bit like a hippopotamus, its mouth is very big, and its tail is curled, a bit like a pig's tail.

"Is this a Qilin? Maybe it's a string of them!"

Lu Chao muttered something to himself. In his field of vision, the black Qilin was currently sleeping soundly on a rock, looking very lazy.

However, Lu Chaoding could not see his detailed attribute information, only his level, which was the same as Elder Xiang Tianming's, level 81!

Xiang Tianming approached the black Qilin, took out a long sword, and struck it on the head, saying, "Black Qilin, you have been causing trouble at my Qilin Cliff for a long time, and your sins are not small. Today, I, the elder, will give you one last chance. Leave quickly, and I will let bygones be bygones and spare your life. If you continue like this, I, the elder, will capture you today."

The black Qilin blinked and said, "You old bastard, how dare you! I'm your future master. How dare you talk to me like that? Don't you want to live anymore?"

As they were speaking, the black Qilin got up, its scales standing up one by one, suddenly making it look as if it was wearing a suit of armor full of spikes, and its appearance became much more ferocious.

"Stubborn to the end? Since that's how it is, this elder will show you that Qilin Cliff is not a place where you can run wild!"

The First Elder, Xiang Tianming, jumped back and shouted, "Activate the formation!"

Immediately, the Grand Elder and the other eight elders who were already scattered around emitted light, which shot into the sky and formed pillars of light. A light curtain was built between the pillars of light, and then the phantom of a Qilin appeared. Four large characters appeared in mid-air: "Qilin Grand Formation".

The black Qilin roared and howled, but remained calm and composed, quietly watching Elder Xiang Tianming with a hint of disdain in its eyes.

"I understand, this is the Qilin Formation!"

Lan E, who was standing next to Lu Chao, spoke up at this moment.

"Madam, what else do you know?"

Lu Chao looked at Lan E with curiosity. Although he knew that he and the hundred sect leaders' wives were only "husband and wife in name" and could not "consummate their marriage", it was still harmless to occasionally take advantage of them verbally.

Lan E had no objection to Lu Chaoding's address. She said, "I've heard that there's a Qilin Grand Formation in the Qilin Secret Realm. It's an extremely powerful trapping and killing formation. This formation requires nine people to set up. Once it's set up, it forms a battle space. It's easy to break through this battle space from the outside in, but if a target trapped inside wants to escape, they must finish the battle. Ordinary methods of escaping battle are completely ineffective within this formation. This is the strongest method of the sword cultivators of Qilin Cliff. It seems that fifty years ago, Xiang Ruyan and the others used this formation to suppress the demoness Yan Shangjing."

Lu Chaoding's eyes lit up upon hearing this: "Really? A battle space was formed directly? This is a nine-person team, nine against one! Ordinary methods of disengaging from combat are ineffective? Even the sword immortal's escape technique doesn't work?"

Lan E nodded seriously and said, "Even using teleportation won't help you escape the battle!"

As Lu Chaoding spoke, the battle within the Qilin Formation had already begun. The First Elder, Xiang Tianming, was the first to make a move, immediately raising the Nine Qilin Calamity Mirror and striking the black Qilin with a beam of Nine Qilin Divine Light, causing it to bare its teeth in pain.

Then came the Second Elder, Xiang Tianjin, who also attacked the Black Qilin with the Nine-Scaled Divine Light. The others launched their attacks according to their elder rankings. When it was the Ninth Elder's turn, he laughed and swallowed a pill, causing the Nine-Scaled Tribulation Mirror behind him to shine brightly.

Lu Chaoding understood when he saw this: the Ninth Elder was about to unleash the "Qilin Calamity".

As expected, the Nine-Scaled Calamity Mirror behind the Ninth Elder collapsed, its light exploding and shining brightly. Then, the phantom of the Qilin divine beast appeared and launched an attack around the black Qilin.

The black Qilin was already deflated at this point. In fact, after being hit by the first Nine Qilin Divine Light, its eyes widened and it showed a look of fear. Now, seeing the Qilin Calamity descend, it was extremely horrified, and its hooves trembled.

"Wait, let's talk this over..."

The black Qilin was clearly about to back down, but the Qilin Calamity still descended mercilessly, and nine phantom images of Qilin divine beasts pounced down, immediately engaging the black Qilin in battle.

The battle scene was very exciting. It was no longer a turn-based game, but a fierce melee. Seeing that he could not escape, the black Qilin had no choice but to fight with all his might. Although he was not big, his combat power was extremely good. He withstood the attacks of the nine Qilin divine beast phantoms and just kept grabbing one of the Qilin divine beast phantoms to tear it apart.

Two minutes later, the phantom of the Qilin divine beast was torn to shreds by him.

Of course, the price paid by this Qilin divine beast was also extremely high. Its scales were scattered all over the ground, and it was unknown how many had been knocked off. It was still being ganged up on and beaten.

Five minutes later, the battle ended. The black Qilin had shattered all nine phantom images of the Qilin divine beast. Covered in wounds, he let out a howl and collapsed to the ground, clearly exhausted and on his last legs.

The nine elders of Qilin Cliff clearly did not anticipate this outcome.

"What?! Even the Qilin Tribulation couldn't kill this guy!"

"This black Qilin must possess extraordinary talent!"

"I thought I could kill this black Qilin with just the Nine-Scaled Calamity Mirror, but I never expected it to be so resilient!"

"Just what is the origin of this black Qilin...?"

The nine elders were discussing when the turn of the Black Qilin had just begun. He was seriously injured and collapsed, with no fighting power left. Two minutes later, the turn expired, and the turn of the Grand Elder Xiang Tianming began.

"You brought this on yourself, you brought it on yourself, Black Qilin. I gave you a chance, but you didn't cherish it. Now you have this result of your own making, don't blame me..."

The Grand Elder Xiang Tianming slowly walked towards the Black Qilin, sword in hand.

At that moment, Lu Chaoding suddenly received a system notification: "Ding, the occasionally unreliable system has activated, issuing a mission: Rescue the Black Qilin. Mission complete, you have gained the Black Qilin's allegiance!"

"Um?"

Lu Chaoding's mind was jolted. He looked at the Grand Elder Xiang Tianming, who was about to make a move, and hurriedly said, "Lu Chaoding hurriedly shouted, "Wait! Can you spare some mercy and let me deal with this black Qilin?"

"Hmm? Sect Leader Lu..."

"Sect Leader Lu, this Black Qilin is almost dead; he won't survive!"

"Sect Leader Lu, what do you intend to do with this black Qilin...?"

The nine elders quickly discussed the matter, and soon, the First Elder, Xiang Tianming, revealed a gentle smile. He cupped his hands to Lu Chaoding and said, "Since Sect Leader Lu has spoken, then let's give this black Qilin to Sect Leader Lu and let him do with it as he sees fit..."

After speaking, he sheathed his longsword, waved his sleeve, and the pale blue light barrier immediately disappeared, and the Qilin Formation dispersed.

"Thank you!" Lu Chao bowed in response, then stepped forward to examine the black Qilin.

"This guy is dying, how can we save him?" Lu Chaoding had a sudden inspiration and took out one of the most precious Qilin treasures, the [Qilin Immortality Elixir].

This Qilin Immortality Elixir is a strange little herb shaped like a Qilin. It is already bound to Lu Chaoding and can only be used by him. Its effect is to save a designated target, grant them immunity from one death, and restore their status to full.

Lu Chaoding felt that the [Qilin Immortality Elixir] was a high-level item. If it had been given to Xiang Ruyan earlier, it might have been able to heal his injuries.

But using it on the Black Qilin at this moment doesn't seem like a bad idea.

After all, this guy is a level 81 boss who can withstand the Qilin Calamity, so he is very strong. It would be a good thing to gain his loyalty.

"Black Qilin, we met by chance. I, the sect leader, saved your life, and from now on you will join a reliable sword sect and pledge your loyalty to me!"

As Lu Chaoding spoke, he pressed the [Qilin Immortality Elixir] onto the black Qilin's forehead.

The black Qilin immediately let out a pig-like scream, but its voice gradually became stronger.

In less than half a minute, he jumped up energetically, a puzzled look on his face. After looking around, he looked at Lu Chaoding and asked, "Did you save me?"

Lu Chaoding: "That's right, I am the reliable sect leader of the Sword Sect. From now on, I am your master, and you must pledge your loyalty to me!"

The black Qilin shook its head and said, "Dream on! I didn't ask you to save me. You saved me voluntarily, so how can you expect me to be loyal?"

After saying this, he stepped into the void and ran into the sky. He was very unwilling and looked at Elder Xiang Tianming with some apprehension. Then, the black Qilin kicked off and ran wildly towards the horizon.

"He ran away!" Lu Chao was stunned. "You unreliable system, he ran away! What about the promised reward? You need to do something about him!"

All one hundred wives of the sect leader frowned, unable to understand the sect leader's behavior. The NPCs at Qilin Cliff also found it strange.

"Sect Leader, it seems you've failed to subdue this black Qilin!"

"Oh dear, what a waste of an elixir of immortality!"

"The sect leader has miscalculated. This black Qilin, though extraordinary, is of terrible character!"

"Sect Leader, this won't work if you want to recruit experts!"

The sect leaders' wives, including Lan E, gathered around Lu Chaoding. Some comforted him, while others lectured him. Lu Chaoding felt his ears ringing. After finally calming them down, suddenly, the black Qilin flew back from the sky. Its flight path was somewhat erratic, as if it were restrained by an unseen force. When it reached above Lu Chaoding's head, it suddenly fell down, landing face-first.

"Lu Chaoding, Sect Leader Lu, I, Black Qilin, will pledge my allegiance to you from now on... Oh dear, what am I saying? What happened? How did I get back here... Um, Master, actually I am a great sword, oh no, I am a sword spirit..."
