My Abyss Survival Diary

Chapter 107 The Wild Clan

Chapter 107 The Wild Clan

Rescuing hostages is certainly a good thing, but—those present were not very confident.

The reason is simple: they lack the strength to fight against the steam armor.

Even the weakest armored warriors are imperial weapons that have fought their way out of mountains of corpses and seas of blood. There are at least ten warriors like them in the camp.

"Could you use your psionic powers to help us take down a few more Ironforge Warriors or Zealots?" Wilson asked casually, looking at the silent Elder Chalasu with his remaining eye. "We've seen your abilities; your psionic powers are strong enough to destroy them."

Elder Chalasu shook his head firmly: "No, I can no longer use psionic energy. If I use it again, my personal consciousness will be devoured by it."

As he spoke, he looked at Simon again, not at his face, but at his neck, where the pendant was worn.

"Without psionic power, we're helpless," the Imperial adventurer scratched his helmet. "Are we really expecting Brother Simon to take them down one by one?"

Just then, Klein, who had spent a long time at the camp, suddenly interrupted their conversation.

"You don't need to worry about the Iron Warriors. We've been in the camp for a long time and haven't seen them recently."

Klein asked other cave raiders or members of the Chalasou tribe for confirmation, and they all nodded.

"So, that means there are only three fanatics left in the camp's security force?" Charasu asked.

"That's right."

In that sense, now is an excellent opportunity for them.

Three fanatics were chasing the nun outside, and most of the Iron Warriors were busy with other things. Only three fanatic armors remained to guard the entire Friendly Camp. This was a golden opportunity. Once Karl returned with the Iron Warriors, they would completely lose their chance to rescue the hostages.

"Simon, what are your thoughts?"

Charasu then turned to look at Simon, whose ideas were the most crucial in this team cobbled together by various forces.

Chalasu's family members, Lin Ying and another burly young girl, looked at Simon at the same time. Wilson and Sophia, the two legendary cave raiders, and their men also looked at him. The adventurer of the Empire and his companions also looked at him at this moment, their eyes filled with expectation.

Simon had a strange association with them, as if they were a nest of chicks waiting for him to feed them.

Everyone was counting on him for ideas, and as the one who proposed the hostage rescue operation, Simon knew he now had to come up with a good idea to keep everyone calm.

"We'll lure them out with steam armor," he said.

The fanatic's armor, whose head he had smashed, could come in handy.

"We'll choose someone to put on the armor, send it to the vicinity of the camp, and then make a commotion to lure the fanatics out of the camp. We'll use this opportunity to go in and rescue them."

"I've heard that the steam armor is custom-made for every warrior by the Empire," Wilson asked, frowning. "Do any of us actually know how to handle it?"

"Although the armor is custom-made, as long as the height and build are similar, one can barely control it. Of course, one certainly cannot unleash the full power of the armor like the original owner did." Simon looked around, his gaze settling on Charasu's grandson, the young man named Lin Ying.

"Let's give it a try first. People with similar body types can give it a go."

"That's a good idea!" Charasu was the first to approve Simon's method.

Now that things have come to this, he, as a member of his people, must step forward to save them. He will try whatever method is available. Simon's idea is highly feasible and worth a try.

"Wearing steam armor to fool those fanatics? That's interesting, I like it."

A series of laughs came from beneath the Imperial Adventurer's enormous helmet; this fellow shared some similarities in personality with Brienne.

Sophia took Wilson's hand, and with just a glance at her partner, Wilson immediately understood her determination and nodded in agreement.

Everyone present agreed with Simond's idea, and now it was time to put it into practice.

Under Simon's command, everyone was divided into two groups.

One group was responsible for preparing matters related to the armor, including driving the armor to the vicinity of the Friendly Camp to hold off the fanatics and buy time for the hostages to escape.

The other group was responsible for rescuing the hostages amidst the chaos.

The responsibility of donning the steam armor naturally fell to Chalasu and his grandchildren.

Led by Simon, they headed toward the temporary camp.

During their conversation, he learned that the burly girl Chalasu had rescued was named Sand Badger and was his granddaughter.

The girl was about 1.8 meters tall, with a healthy wheat-colored complexion. Her hair was braided and draped over her left shoulder, with animal teeth and bone ornaments woven into the braid.

She looked quite young and wore a pale yellow robe, with several layers of fabric covering her chest, revealing her flat stomach and navel.

"Grandpa said you're a very strong warrior. Shall we spar sometime?" The badger was very enthusiastic towards Simon, leaning forward and shaking his arm repeatedly.

According to Simon's observation, the people in their tribe are very martial, which is normal, after all, they come from the dangerous third layer of the abyss, and powerful warriors can return with a full load of prey, so they will naturally be respected by their tribe.

"Okay," Simon readily agreed.

The last person to make this request was Flani, and she ended up getting a beating from herself—that is, after she turned into a Komodo dragon.

The girl smiled slightly, revealing two sharp canine teeth.

"My dream is to constantly hone myself, eventually surpassing my grandfather and becoming the strongest warrior in the entire Abyss!"

Upon hearing the title "the strongest warrior," Charasu involuntarily staggered back a step.

"Stop daydreaming, okay?" Lin Ying interrupted impatiently. "If you want to become the strongest warrior, you'll at least have to get past me first."

The sand badger curled its lip, its hand instantly reaching for the hilt of the long sword at its waist. Lin Ying was not to be outdone, its spear already poised to strike.

Judging from their demeanor, they've done this quite often before; they'll start fighting at the drop of a hat.

"That's enough!"

His furious roar shook the surrounding petals off the flowers. Elder Chalasu suddenly stretched out his hands, grabbed one child by the back of the neck with each hand, and lifted them up. Amid their defiant shouts, he slammed the two children's heads together.

The badger's head collided head-on with the forest eagle's head, leaving Simon dizzy and disoriented, a sight he couldn't bear to watch.

That's really wild. Is this how their ethnic group educates its people?

These two kids are really tough; they can still walk normally even after being hit like that, and they're even arguing back and forth.

Half an hour later, the group arrived near the flower field.

The steam-powered armor is hidden in the nearby stone forest.

With the help of the sand badger and the forest eagle, they quickly carried the armor out of the stone forest.

"I'll go first!"

Lin Ying excitedly asked to be the first to try it on.
