Chapter 107 The Plan Has Changed

After they finished, Yuri checked the time; they were far behind schedule.

"C-box recycling. Radio and recording photos."

Everyone immediately began to act.

Eugene quickly photographed the observation point data and took away a memory card and an encrypted terminal.

Artyom found two simple FPV drones and several batteries inside the house.

He whispered, "Should I bring it?"

Eugene glanced at it: "Bring the battery. Don't bring the drone; it takes up too much space."

A few minutes later, box C was dragged to the shade of the barn and opened.

After checking, Roman said in a low voice, "The medical kit is intact."

"C4 intact. Detonator intact."

Ruslan breathed a sigh of relief: "It was worth it."

Eugene replied, "Not necessarily."

Yuri turned to look at him.

Eugene pointed to the terminal: "Six o'clock. If they don't respond, the other side will become suspicious."

Roman: "How much longer?"

Eugene: "About four hours."

Artyom cursed under his breath, "We have to run."

"Following the original route won't work; it might leave traces."

Lu Ye said, "Let's go through the irrigation canals."

Everyone looked at him.

Lu Ye pointed into the distance: "The bottom of the canal can block heat sources and outlines, and it can connect to the forest belt."

"The downside is that it's slow."

Eugene glanced at the map: "We can reconnect to Route One, but it will be a bit of a detour."

Yuri asked, "Is there enough time?"

Roman: "Not enough!"

Yuri raised his hand to stop this pointless discussion: "Let's deal with the situation first."

Roman nodded: "Understood."

Eugene crouched down next to the radio inside the room, quickly checking the logbook and equipment.

Artyom and Roman dragged the three bodies outside back to the middle of the yard.

Yuri lowered his voice: "Be quick, and try not to leave any traces."

Eugene quickly photographed the radio frequency table and notebook, then took a memory card.

Yuri stepped forward and asked, "Is it possible to forge a short message?"

Eugene shook his head: "I don't recommend it."

Ruslan asked in a low voice, "Why?"

Eugene: "Passwords, idioms, and call sign confirmations can all give us away. The more we send them, the faster we're exposed."

Yuri nodded without speaking, his expression grave.

He turned his head and saw Artyom stuffing two Ukrainian soldiers' spare magazines and a coat into his backpack.

Yuri glanced at him: "What are you doing with the clothes?"

Artyom: "Maybe it will come in handy."

A few minutes later, the supplies in box C were repackaged.

Yuri glanced around and whispered, "Withdraw."

The six men left the farm and entered the irrigation canal.

Artyom led the way, scouting ahead; Lu Ye was on the left front side; Eugene walked in the middle, keeping an eye on the terminal and navigation.

Roman, carrying a medical kit, followed behind Eugene; Ruslan and Yuri brought up the rear, responsible for bringing up the rear.

No one spoke; they only communicated occasionally through gestures.

Stop. Lower your stance. Advance.

Around 3:30 a.m., they finally returned to the vicinity of Route 1.

Eugene crouched down and confirmed the coordinates: "Back to Route One."

Yuri quickly checked his watch: "Much later than planned."

The team moved forward, alternating between the forest belt and the field ridges.

Every few hundred meters, Lu Ye and Artyom would go forward to observe.

Eugene only briefly launches drones when necessary to check intersections.

Ruslan was in charge of the rear and flanks, while Roman and Yuri controlled the speed.

More than an hour later, it was almost 5 a.m.

The sky was still dark, but the east had already begun to gradually turn from black to gray.

Yuri raised his hand, signaling the team to stop, then said in a low voice, "At this speed, we won't make it to the first hiding spot."

No one spoke; they all knew that too much time had been wasted since they started on the farm.

In addition, the enemy patrols were more frequent than expected, and several evasive maneuvers caused further delays.

Ruslan leaned against the earthen slope, catching his breath: "Find another place?"

Eugene looked at the map: "There aren't many usable hiding spots nearby. The drone density will increase during the day."

Lu Ye then looked up at Yuri and said, "I discovered something when I went out to observe."

"Ukrainian military logistics convoys travel on the agricultural machinery road, making a trip every ten minutes or so."

Lu Ye said, "Sometimes there are two or three, sometimes there's one."

Ruslan frowned: "Are there so many support vehicles here?"

Roman: "There may be relocations at the front."

Lu Ye continued, "I don't know if their route overlaps with our Route One."

"But what if they overlap—"

He stopped there.

Yuri understood: "Imitate them."

Lu Ye nodded.

Ruslan glanced at his equipment: "Six of us, plus all this stuff, can we even fit into the support vehicle?"

Artyom: "Faster than walking."

Eugene, however, spoke up, saying, "The risks are very high. Checkpoints, passwords, convoy scheduling, license plate recognition—anything could go wrong."

.

Yuri didn't decide immediately. He looked at Eugene: "How much longer do we have in the communication window with command center?"

Eugene checked his watch: "Fifteen minutes."

Yuri thought for a moment and said, "Lu, Artyom, Roman, go ahead and observe the convoy's patterns."

"I've contacted command center with Eugene and am requesting assistance!"

Subsequently, Lu Ye, Artyom, and Roman immediately headed towards the agricultural machinery road.

They lay down on a embankment, about a hundred meters from the road.

Lu Ye set up the observation scope.

A few minutes later, a Ukrainian army light truck drove in from the east.

The headlights were dim, the vehicle was moving slowly, the cargo bed was covered with a tarpaulin, there were two people in the driver's cab, and there was no escort vehicle.

Roman whispered, "Bicycle."

Eight minutes later, two pickup trucks and a truck passed by.

The vehicle was traveling at a higher speed, and there was a temporary camouflage net on the roof.

Roman whispered, "Small caravan."

Artyom: "There are gun racks on the vehicle."

Twelve minutes later, a van came from the west.

The vehicle was marked with Ukrainian military logistics markings, and a canvas was hung at the rear.

Thermal imaging showed that there were two people in the cab, and there were no obvious heat sources in the compartment.

"They're not moving at fixed intervals, but they are definitely moving continuously," Roman concluded. "This route might be a temporary supply line."

the other side.

Eugene set up short-pulse communication equipment in a low-lying area and began fine-tuning it in the intended direction.

After making the adjustments, Eugene checked the time and then pressed send.

A few seconds later, a voice came through the earpiece: "Nest received. Identification code!"

Eugene quickly recited a one-time authentication code, and the other end paused for two seconds: "Authentication successful. Black Scythe, report."

Yuri lowered his voice: "This is Black Scythe. The situation has changed."

"All personnel are safe and sound; all weapons and equipment have been recovered."

"We discovered and dealt with the enemy's disguised observation points en route."

"The person at that location may have lost contact and been exposed at 6:00 AM."

"Our forces are delayed and are not expected to arrive at concealment point number one on time."

There was a two-second silence on the other end of the communication line, followed by the lieutenant colonel's voice: "State your current location."

Eugene quickly provided the encrypted coordinates.

Yuri continued, "We discovered that Ukrainian army logistics vehicles were traveling on the nearby agricultural machinery road, and we considered hijacking them to disguise their passage."

"6

"Based on observation, a preliminary assessment indicates that a disguised infiltration operation can be carried out. Request confirmation of the route, checkpoints, and enemy logistical deployment."

The lieutenant colonel said, "Remain silent and wait for intelligence to be gathered."
