Chapter 87 Operation Begins
Chapter 87 Operation Begins
A few days later, Salomon was still lying on the sofa in the apartment, and the Cheshire Cat was still meowing incessantly, hoping for a fish feast, but no one paid any attention to it.
"I've discovered the Sorcerer Supreme wasn't joking. I'm doomed." Salomon clutched a document tightly in his hand. "I don't know where this scholarship came from, but it gives me a private room and a special little cloak. That means I can go back to Kamar-Taj or here every night, as long as the dorm supervisor doesn't find out."
"Isn't this a good thing?" Joan of Arc asked. "You won't have to stay away from the magical world anymore."
"I think I still prefer high school where classes end at 3 p.m.," Salomon muttered. "It's more down-to-earth. I just can't imagine myself going to dinner in a black suit; that would be too stupid."
"A suit is a mature man's armor; you need to learn to arm yourself." Bayonetta leaned closer, her thick, cloud-like hair cascading over her shoulders, her hot, moist breath brushing against the sorcerer's face without restraint. The witch scrutinized Salomon with unabashed interest. "We've known each other for over a year, Boya, you've changed quite a bit."
"That's because I'm going through puberty," Salomon said. "I feel like I'll be taller than you someday."
"I'll be waiting, you cute little guy." Bayonetta gently stroked Salomon's chin, the newly sprouted stubble fine and soft. "You should learn how to lather your cheeks and how to use a razor. I don't like you having a beard."
"Tsk!" Seeing Bayonetta and Salomon's intimate actions, Joan of Arc's expression turned ugly again. Although she would accept Salomon, not now, she also knew that Bayonetta could never get rid of Salomon in this lifetime, because Salomon was Bayonetta and her prison.
"I was thinking of buying an electric shaver yesterday, you know I don't care much about appearance," Salomon said. "I think electric shavers are no different from manual shavers. As long as you can tolerate the buzzing sound, the results that technology products can achieve are no worse than manual ones."
"But I've heard that Eton College has extremely strict dress codes," Bayonetta said. "Someone like you who enrolled mid-term is likely to be treated even more strictly because many people will see you as an oddball."
“It’s not that serious, Bayonetta,” Salomon said. “While you do have a point, do you think I care what other people think? If they don’t want trouble, they’ll know who they shouldn’t mess with.”
Eton College certainly didn't want trouble, but they'd already gotten themselves into it. After learning that Salomon had accepted an interview with Eton, S.H.I.E.L.D. immediately went to the school to search for information about him—because Salomon had mysteriously disappeared again after the interview, and nearby security cameras hadn't captured any images of him. Therefore, S.H.I.E.L.D. planned to find Salomon's address from Eton's records.
This operation was led by Natasha Romanoff, who had even taken a leave of absence from Pepper Potts's team. Phil Coulson, who was supposed to be in charge, was under investigation because he couldn't explain why he had forgotten about the operation he participated in. However, if the target was a superhuman, then everything would make sense. Agent Coulson was a loyal man, and Natasha Romanoff believed he could prove his innocence; the investigation was merely a precaution.
Everyone knows that in Britain, the US president, not the British cabinet, has the final say. S.H.I.E.L.D. can easily infiltrate and roam freely within the academy, and the British government is powerless to stop them, let alone the president. Even when he tries to contact some high-ranking alumni, he can't stop S.H.I.E.L.D.'s actions.
This greatly alarmed the headmaster, as his biggest fear was another scandal at Eton College. Now it seemed that the scale of this incident was far too large, and it was bound to be a serious matter.
This is indeed a big deal. A superhuman with superpowers who can brainwash an agent is far too dangerous. Natasha has some doubts about whether Salomon's ability is the high-temperature ability that Coulson mentioned. She is not sure if some concepts in Coulson's mind have been quietly changed. She is not even sure if Salomon and his accomplices learned about S.H.I.E.L.D.'s secrets through Coulson.
Therefore, after Natasha Romanoff reported the matter, the only reply she received was "Capture Salomon alive and find out what they know." Nick Fury was also extremely nervous about the emergence of Salomon and the "superhuman organization" behind him—now in Nick Fury's mind, this organization had already pointed its guns at S.H.I.E.L.D., but he knew nothing about it.
However, Natasha's operation only yielded an address. When she led her team to London, she couldn't find the building, leading her to conclude it was a fake address—which it wasn't. The address was real. Ever since Coulson's raid, the London Temple had activated a spell similar to a "Muggle Exorcism Charm," originating from Hogs. This spell could induce a dreamlike state in its target, rendering them blind to their surroundings. From the Temple deacons' perspective, Natasha and her group were simply circling the entrance.
The trail went cold, but S.H.I.E.L.D. wouldn't give up—because Salomon would definitely go to school someday, and S.H.I.E.L.D. would find him.
"Tell Salomon he's in trouble again," several high-ranking temple deacons said with a laugh. "He'll be coming to clean for us again."
"Don't be silly. Have you ever learned the spell 'Invisible Servant'? That spell is in Salomon's spellbook," the Temple Guardian said. "He's going to school. The only ones who can come are a few invisible servants carrying rags. You can't see him at all now. It's said that even Kasirius and Mordo can't find him now. His Holiness gave him a break."
"Hey, do you guys think Salomon might be...?"
"It's hard to say, hard to say. Don't forget what happened to the previous candidates." The Temple Guardian's expression became very tense. "To avoid offending His Holiness, to avoid offending His Holiness. If Salomon is qualified, His Holiness will naturally choose him. The Sorcerer Supreme's thoughts are not something we can interfere with."
"That……"
"Shut up!" said the temple guardian. "We know nothing and will follow His Holiness's orders."
As the last breath of spring dissipated on the Thames, the start of the school year arrived leisurely. Salomon gave Phoenix a tight hug and greeted Mordo and Kasirios, who were dressed in black suits. Salomon removed the Shroud of the Dead and donned the black school uniform, a tailcoat that exuded British style. This tuxedo cost a hefty 700 pounds; according to Farron prices, it would have cost at least 150 GP, equivalent to three pounds of gold, and it didn't even have any magical effects—tsk, what a waste.
"Are you happy?" Salomon asked Mordo and Kasirios, their faces beaming with smiles.
“Of course, Salomon.” Cassirios raised an eyebrow. “You can’t imagine how happy I am.”
“I’m very happy that you’ve carried out His Excellency’s orders,” Mordo said. “There are very few children as obedient as you. I think the disciplined life at Eton College will be no challenge for you.”
“You’re celebrating too soon,” Salomon said. “I’m wearing a slingshot. That means I can come back here every night.”
"The Sorcerer Supreme doesn't forbid you from doing this," Mordo said with a smile. "Karmar-Taj will always be your home. Here, not that witch's place, and I hope you remember that, because you've wasted a great deal of time there..."
"OK, OK." Salomon quickly waved his hand, interrupting Mordo's rambling. "How are we going to get to school? I can't wait to rule over those British politicians, the children of Middle Eastern tycoons, oh, and a bunch of nerds. I've heard Eton College has a strict hierarchy, and upperclassmen often bully freshmen. I can't wait to give them a taste of my fists."
"You're going there to learn to live peacefully with ordinary people, Salomon," Mordo said. "Don't attack them first..."
"Not again?" Salomon said impatiently. "I don't think Eton College's opening date can accommodate your nagging, Mordo. You'd better hurry up and decide how to get me to school."
"Through the portal, of course," Mordo said. "Did you really expect Kasirius to drive you there in that beat-up car?"
"I don't mind, and it'll give me a chance to spot a few clueless guys," Salomon said. "You can't imagine how impatient I am. If it weren't for the single dorms, I wouldn't even go there."
"Since you insist, I'll send you to school," Cassirios said with a smile.
"Cassilios! Venerable One didn't send Salomon there for...?"
"Who cares? I don't care about officials or tycoons. Those rich kids can't be arrogant in front of Salomon," Cassirios said. "How can you be considered a teenager if you haven't been in a fight? Am I right, Salomon?"
"That's right, I can't wait to shove their heads down the toilet." Salomon pulled Kasirios toward the portal. "Don't worry, Mordo, they'll just think it's a dream. I'll get along well with the extradimensional bacteria on their heads."
In fact, the "old-fashioned car" Mordo described wasn't actually that old. It had only been bought a year ago, and its sole purpose was to take Salomon to school. Mordo's disdain for the car stemmed from his belief that it was far too cheap. But regardless, the car now had a new purpose; its life was revitalized. The engine, dormant for months, started up again, carrying Salomon and Kasiris towards Eton College.
"Target spotted, report... Target spotted." A black sedan parked on the side of the road started silently and quickly followed the car driven by Cassilios.
"Received... Operation commence."
