Chapter 86 Suspicion
Chapter 86 Suspicion
"I don't really want to rely on the seventy-two demons in battle, even though they can be of great help." Salomon pointed to Phoenix, who was sleeping on the shelf. Normally, Phoenix would never speak unless Salomon came to it, because anyone other than Salomon and the Sorcerer Supreme would be highly likely to be lost in its song. Since Phoenix appeared in the Sorcerer Supreme's meditation room, the sorcerer responsible for the Sorcerer Supreme's care no longer needed to use magic to light candles—Fengy's feathers were burning with flames.
"And then?" the Venerable One asked.
"Besides the magic in the Book of Vishanti, I think some magic that manipulates energy in combat is also a must-learn for me." Salomon was referring to Evocation magic, such as fire, frost, lightning, soil, acid, and force fields. These spells have extremely simple and direct effects, making them the best choice for clearing out small fry.
Evocation magic also has great similarities to Vishanti magic. The Sorcerer Supreme was a master of manipulating energy, and Salomon even saw the Sorcerer Supreme use the spell "Magic Missile" as "Isaac Missile Storm" in the Mirror Dimension.
The so-called "Cult of the Five Fireballs" was easily cast by the Sorcerer Supreme. However, these spells only amused the Sorcerer Supreme, as they were useful to some of his apprentices but were ineffective against his enemies.
"Protection magic is also a required course for me," Salomon said. "I'll also need to learn some divination spells, and the same goes for mind magic. Illusion magic only requires learning the basics. As for necromancy... to be honest, I'm actually quite interested in it. Hmm? Aren't you angry?"
"Why should I be angry?" the Venerable said. "Is studying black magic much more serious than acquiring Dormammu's power? It's nothing serious. You are still too young and need to learn. Black magic is also a kind of magic, and I am not forbidding you from learning it."
Salomon almost forgot that the Sorcerer Supreme was the one who had acquired the most power from Dormammu. Necromancy alone wasn't enough to make the Sorcerer Supreme alarmed; as long as the others in Kamar-Taj didn't discover his plan to learn necromancy, that was fine. After reporting his next phase of magical studies, Salomon obediently left the meditation room, preparing to spend some time with Bayonetta.
It was spring break, and his magic had made some progress. The first third-circle spell he learned was the famous Fireball. The Sorcerer Supreme, quite satisfied, gave Salomon a short break.

Heavy curtains blocked out all the intense sunlight streaming in through the windows. Although it was springtime, the two women were still dressed in light, thin pajamas. They sat languidly at opposite ends of the sofa, their long, slender, snow-white legs curled up on the cushions, each holding a book. These weren't some profound fantasy novels, just ordinary romance novels available on the market.
Bayonetta fidgeted restlessly with her pale toes, painted with black nail polish, constantly teasing Salomon, who sat in the middle of the sofa. Compared to Bayonetta's gentleness, Jeanne was far more rude. The white-haired witch had always considered Salomon an outsider in her and Bayonetta's world; the moment he arrived, she slammed her foot heavily on his knee, remaining motionless and silent.
"Meow~" The Cheshire Cat cautiously greeted its owner.
"Shut up, you fat cat!" Jeanne snapped at the spot under the sofa, as if she had just seen Salomon. She greeted him curtly. "There's food in the fridge, go get some yourself."
Salomon was unfazed by Joan's attitude. He snapped his fingers, and the refrigerator door opened by itself, as if an invisible person were taking out drinks and snacks, unscrewing bottle caps, pouring cola into glasses, and finally delivering them to the three people lounging on the sofa. This was a small step forward for Salomon in his magical abilities; now, when casting certain spells, he could avoid using readily available, inexpensive casting materials—for example, the Invisibility Servant spell could completely disregard casting materials like a thread and a piece of wood.
Jeanne gave a soft snort, took the cup, and looked away from Salomon. Although she was still somewhat dissatisfied, she was slowly accepting Salomon's presence. After all, Salomon prepared most of the dinners himself, and they only needed to eat something simple for lunch. As long as Bayonetta didn't let Salomon stay overnight... and even if he did, she couldn't invite him into the bed! Because there was only one double bed in the apartment, and she slept with Bayonetta!
Salomon also brought a huge pile of books and manuscripts, things he and Bayonetta had plundered from the Holy Cross Church library. He certainly couldn't read them all by himself, even with the "Scholar's Touch" spell. Fortunately, Bayonetta was happy to share the work. Since the Ragnarok Order's high command was almost entirely wiped out and the funeral arrangements were ongoing intermittently, Bayonetta, with nothing to do at home and no desire to pass the time reading romance novels, could only find some interest in those ancient manuscripts.
Salomon is about to enter high school, which is a bit late for his grades and age. However, thanks to his A* grades in GCSE and his award in the European Union Young Scientists Competition, many private schools will still invite him. Salomon has already received several invitations for interviews during the holidays.
However, all these schools have attendance requirements, so Salomon needs to choose carefully. For example, Eton College does not allow parents to visit during the first three weeks of enrollment, and students are not allowed to leave the school, which will greatly shorten Salomon's time to study magic. In addition, it costs £20,000 in tuition fees every year (although this is not much for Salomon now). If Salomon had to choose for himself, he would definitely not choose to enter such a school.
Interestingly, Eton College was founded by Henry VI in 1440 with the aim of providing free education for poor students, allowing them to attend as a preparatory school for King's College, Cambridge. Ironically, however, Eton College has gradually become one of the most prestigious aristocratic schools in Britain.
However, the best place for a British high school student is still the "Nine Great Public Schools". Although the Sorcerer Supreme's statement about "giving the Saxons a good beating" was a joke, it is clear that the Sorcerer Supreme still harbored the idea of letting Salomon rule the new generation of Saxons.

Because Salomon Damonette had left a deep impression on Natasha Romanoff, she immediately began an investigation after dealing with Stark Industries' affairs. When she accessed Salomon's file through S.H.I.E.L.D.'s information network, she discovered a mark on it.
The symbol means "Danger," classifying it as a Level 6 classified information, lower than Natasha's security clearance; otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to see the file. The annotation was written by Agent Coulson, whom Natasha knew. He was the director's right-hand man, and reportedly, Agent Coulson had already partnered with Nick Fury before he became director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Natasha's spy instincts told her something was amiss. Although Nick Fury was known for his impartiality, the fact that a veteran agent, and the director's former partner, only had Level 6 clearance suggested something was more. But that wasn't the point right now. Coincidentally, Agent Coulson was also handling Tony Stark's affairs and was currently rummaging through Howard Stark's files. Natasha thought she could ask him about things not mentioned in the records.
"I was trying to confirm if you had a sufficient security clearance, but that's clearly unnecessary," Coulson's voice came from the other end of the phone. "But I'm still curious, why are you interested in this?"
"Tony Stark met with him, alone, in the lounge of the EU Young Scientists Competition." Natasha flipped through Stark Industries' documents with boredom. Ever since she became the assistant to the president of Stark Industries, these troublesome documents had been endless—why did she even have to design the name tags? Couldn't the security department handle this?
"And then?" Coulson asked.
"Ever since Stark met him, he's been saying he's met someone even stranger than himself," Natasha said with a laugh. "I think you know how eccentric Stark is. I can hardly imagine anyone being stranger than him."
Out of instinct, Natasha didn't reveal much information, and Coulson was well aware of this, but that was enough.
"In fact, Salomon Damonette is suspected of being recruited into a superhuman organization." Coulson didn't laugh; his tone gradually became serious. "This organization was active in Selin. If you look through Selin's case files, you'll find a few things: Councilor White's jeweled ring was stolen, and there was a large fire on the outskirts of the town."
"What's the connection between these things?" Natasha asked.
"I believe Salomon Damonette is very likely a fire-wielding individual, and he was the one who robbed Senator White," Agent Coulson said. "He had an accomplice. Perhaps that robbery was just a rehearsal; they're planning something bigger."
"A ring?" Natasha recalled the three rings on Salomon's right hand, those expensive rings that would attract attention anywhere. She asked, "What does Senator White's ring look like?"
"There's a very eye-catching pink gem," Coulson said.
"Yes..." Natasha thought for a moment; she had indeed seen a ring with a pink gemstone on Salomon's finger. She continued, "Did you investigate further?"
“I arranged it in my dream, sir,” Coulson said. “I remember the last lead ended in a private museum, which I had to stop investigating because of Stark’s disappearance. Maybe because I cared too much about it, I even dreamed that I led a team to raid that museum… I can even remember the exhibits in the museum clearly, it’s amazing.”
“Yes, it is indeed quite… amazing.” Natasha narrowed her eyes as she looked at Coulson’s operation log. Agent Coulson hadn’t raided the museum in a dream; he had indeed done so. But why would he think he was dreaming? Natasha Romanoff took a deep breath—this was serious; this wasn’t a small fish on the hook.
