Chapter 79 The Final Battle Between Demons and Gods
Chapter 79 The Final Battle Between Demons and Gods (Part 1)
Bayonetta was unconscious due to five hundred years of chaotic memories, but all of this seemed to be part of the sage Baldr's plan. He reached out and embraced the witch, who was still unconsciously releasing the power of her "left eye." Since the outermost layer of concrete of the building crumbled and fell away, the core of the building was revealed—a very obvious rocket structure, made entirely of metal. Perhaps because of its age, the joints of the metal still had clearly visible rivets.
Under the influence of magic, this rocket, manufactured by the Izawell Corporation, possessed technology far surpassing that of other countries. Its payload capacity and size were far greater than any rocket from any other nation; it was as tall as the Isabelle Building. At the very top of this rocket was a colossal group of stone statues that defied all hydrodynamics. Anyone with a modicum of common sense would never place such things on a rocket. At the very center of this group was a statue of the creator goddess Jubilee, surrounded by countless beautiful angels, gazing down upon humanity from the clouds.
"Let's begin, Ceressa." Baldr, carrying Bayonetta, headed towards the stone statue on the top floor of the Isabelle Building.
"The resurrection ritual of the Creator Jubilee is about to be completed." Baldr rose to the highest point, his back to the statue. Completely insane, he continued to pour his thoughts into the unconscious Bayonetta. "Ceresa, we are the eyes that observe the world, we are the eyes that witness the new world... the new reality... we will dedicate ourselves to it forever."
Baldr and Bayonetta radiated a blinding light as the sage, accompanied by the witch, floated into the forehead of the statue of the creator, Jubilee. Then, the statue opened its eyes; the right eye was blue, the left red. Baldr and Bayonetta resided within the right and left eyes respectively. The power of the Eye of the World had activated the slumbering Jubilee.
"May the Creator Jubilee protect all creation!" The goddess statue opened its mouth, but the voice belonged to Baldr. This statue was now under Baldr's control, fulfilling his long-held wish to become the creators of the new world alongside his daughter. Now, this five-hundred-year-old dream was about to be realized.
Air raid sirens blared across the island, and countless people looked up, their gazes fixed on the tallest and most prominent building in the center of Sun Island. But different people interpreted this sight differently. Many Ragnarokists believed it was a harbinger of the resurrection of Jubilee, the Creator, and they prayed joyfully, hoping that Jubilee would favor them after his resurrection. But others, like Luca, who had been taken to the edge of Sun Island by Phoenix, and Salomon, currently in the Mirror Dimension, saw it as a bad omen.
"You've done enough," the Sorcerer Supreme said, looking at the troubled Salomon. "You've helped Ceresia become stronger, awakening the power of her 'Left Eye'."
"But what's the use?" Salomon asked. "The awakening of the 'left eye' seems to be within Badr's expectations."
"What Bader doesn't know is that I have seen many possibilities, and he believes that Jubilee's power can surpass the Eye of Agamotto," the Venerable said. "But the Eye of the World cannot observe all possibilities like the Eye of Agamotto. These possibilities are diverse, including those that could kill Jubilee."
Salomon looked puzzled and asked, "Does that include the current situation?"
"That's one possibility too." The Sorcerer Supreme pointed to Joan of Arc, who was lying outside the Mirror Dimension and slowly waking up. "We'll have to see what happens to her next."
Bright flames and billowing smoke erupted from the building's base, surging through the streets and buildings like a tidal wave, eventually reaching the sea. A massive roar and heat engulfed the entire island; the immense tremors even shattered concrete, causing the building next to the Isabelle Building to collapse completely. As the rocket slowly ascended, countless angels, fluttering their wings, rose into the sky alongside it.
Salomon saw that after the rocket took off, it suddenly lengthened, and a metal disc with radiating patterns like the sun opened at its tail.
The deafening noise fully jolted Joan of Arc awake. She had no idea she had ever entered the Mirror Dimension, as the Sorcerer Supreme had frozen her memories after her injury. But Joan had no time to question her own lack of injury, for she had already sensed the power of the statue atop the rocket—a power she recognized intimately as her "left eye" and "right eye." She knew that time was of the essence—the witch's left eye must not fall into the wrong hands! This was Joan's conviction and pride as the leader of the witch race.
So, without hesitation, she jumped from the high-rise building after regaining consciousness. Landing safely, she grabbed a motorcycle from the roadside, twisted the throttle, and sped along the still-undamaged surface of the building. The motorcycle carried Joan of Arc through the air, using the floating angels as a road, mercilessly crushing them. With incredibly precise control and the power of the motorcycle engine, Joan of Arc drove the motorcycle soaring through the air, finally stopping on the outer shell of the rocket. The angels gathered around immediately swarmed upon seeing Joan of Arc, but they dared not attack her with their full force, fearing they would damage this fragile technological creation and ruin Jubilee's resurrection.
The Sorcerer Supreme waved his finger, and a portal suddenly opened in front of the rocket, leading to an endless starry sky. The rapidly ascending rocket had no chance to change direction and could only pass through the portal. The Sorcerer Supreme continued casting his spell; this was the first time Salomon had witnessed the power of the Sorcerer Supreme.
The Sorcerer Supreme opened her arms, orange-red flames leaping between her palms. Countless skyscrapers stretched and folded beneath her feet, rapidly elevating the platform upon which she and Salomon stood. As the platform rose higher, the horizon began to curve, and all the towering buildings gradually became small. The setting sun in the west rose higher, and Salomon saw the line between light and shadow on the ground extending in both north and south directions, the bright ground in the distance enveloped in a layer of blue light. When the platform came to a standstill again, Salomon realized that above him was no longer a thin layer of clouds, but the deep starry sky.
Immediately afterward, the Sorcerer Supreme opened her arms, and the boundary of the Mirror Dimension, like shattered glass, rapidly expanded from her center. Salomon watched from high above as the Mirror Dimension spread across the land, stretching from Sun Isle to the surrounding seas. This expansion seemed endless; Salomon saw the boundary even cross the distant horizon, eventually enveloping the entire Earth. At the same time, the defense systems of the three Sanctums of the Supreme Being activated instantly. Sparks invisible to ordinary people flickered on the ground, extending into lines that formed three massive, slowly rotating shields centered on New York, London, and Hong Kong.
Now, all satellite signals on Earth have been lost, and all communication with satellites has been severed by the mirror dimension. Above Earth, the colossal rocket has detached itself from all technological creations, and the root-like stone pillars beneath the statue are pulled by gravity, plummeting to the ground like meteorites. Countless angels transformed into golden specks of light, filled with unparalleled fervor, pouring themselves into the body of the creator, Jubilee. Among them were a large number of incredibly powerful Quadruple Virtues, willing to become the fuel to ignite the old world for the god's resurrection.
Salomon stared in disbelief at the sight before him. The Creator Jubilee was curled up like a baby sleeping in the womb. With the power of the Eye of the World and the angel who became kindling, all burdens were discarded, and the sculpture, which was originally like a dull stone statue, was transformed into flesh and blood.
With Jubilee's resurrection, the surging power crushed charged, high-energy particles through the atmosphere, rubbing against magnetic fields and creating golden auroras across half the Earth. If not for the Mirror Dimension cast by the Sorcerer Supreme and Kamar-Taj's planetary defense system, earthquakes and tsunamis would have engulfed half the planet under such a powerful onslaught. This was unimaginable power, and it's no wonder Baldr was completely unconcerned about the Sorcerer Supreme's presence; such power was not something one person could withstand.
He awoke from his curled-up state and stretched his body. Jubilee had an extremely perfect body proportion, skin as white and flawless as marble, and intricate red patterns on his body and limbs. His arms and legs were adorned with golden armbands and legbands; his long hair, seemingly made of gold, was divided into six strands, each inlaid with various jewels, and the ends of his hair were inlaid with huge rhomboid rubies on both sides; huge golden runes also spread out behind him like wings, radiating light that was no less dazzling than the sun.
The Sorcerer Supreme signaled to Salomon to calm down and observe the development of the battle. The powerful physique of the witch race allowed Joan of Arc to endure the cold and thin air at high altitudes. She rode her motorcycle and stopped on a floating rock. Three dark purple magic circles appeared before Joan of Arc. A bullet pierced through the magic circles and struck Jubilee's left eye. Bayonetta, unconscious and losing control of her powers, fell out from within.
"Joan of Arc?"
"Wake up, Ceresia!" Joan of Arc's voice reached Bayonetta's ears through magic. "Settle this five-hundred-year-old grudge with your own hands! Stop dawdling, wake up, the battle has begun!"
