Chapter 60 The Little Girl

Chapter 60 The Little Girl

At dawn, Vigrid, which faces Naples across the sea, is shrouded in a thin mist over the water, with only its towering spires breaking through the fog.

The spire gleamed brightly under the clear sky. This spire was the headquarters of the Izawell Group and also the beacon of Vigrid, continuously illuminating the world like the teachings of the Ragnarok.

This object scattering light was not an ordinary giant light bulb as people might have assumed, but a luminous white sphere connected to the top of a spire by golden metal ribbons, surrounded by two floating rings of different sizes. This was magic, not technology.

Inside the enormous room at the top of the spire, a circular seating arrangement ensures that, regardless of where one sits, all eyes will be focused on the same spot. Beside these seats hang red banners from columns, reaching to the ground, covered with densely packed golden scriptures.

If it weren't for the large, gold-red desk in the center of the room, it would resemble a chapel rather than an office. There were no electric lights, but it was filled with warm light, with some faint glow coming from several large rings behind the gold-red desk.

These glowing rings are nested in layers. The outermost ring is dark and engraved with luminous runes. The closer the ring is to the center, the brighter the light becomes. At the very center is a huge golden disc without any patterns on it. Every second, these rings rotate accordingly, but without making any friction noise.

But these faint lights were not enough to illuminate the office.

"After 500 years of waiting, this moment has finally arrived." A hoarse yet calm voice rang out from behind the desk. The voice belonged to Badr, the president of the Izawell Corporation, who had appeared on television earlier. His attire was unchanged, and his face was no longer young. But he still wore that half-gold mask, and his hand kept stroking the white peacock on his shoulder, because the peacock was alive. He said, "That child will eventually come here too."

"Are we going to repeat the mistakes of 500 years ago? Or perhaps..." A short-haired woman with white hair, dressed in a tight red leather suit, stood before the desk. She was extremely tall, and the collar of her red leather suit featured a black, puffy scarf, with a gold clock on her bow tie. Her high heels, like Bayonetta's, had thick heels, and a black pistol was tucked behind each heel. However, her clothing was much looser around her legs, with a slit like a cheongsam, revealing her fair skin and long, slender legs.

"That child has only one path forward. As for why I know this, it's because I am well aware of the laws of the three realms and have already seen through everything. Our next action is an act of kindness to create the best world." Bader faced to the left, and the woman could only see his mask. He didn't stop gently stroking his face as he answered the question. Bader's tone was slow, and he was extremely confident as he spoke, because he firmly believed that everything was proceeding according to his plan.

"You, as the 'right eye,' have actually abandoned order and chosen chaos." The woman in red's voice rose slightly at the end of the sentence, her tone flippant, as if everything had nothing to do with her and she didn't care at all.

“You are wrong, this is chaos,” Badr said. “My daughter must join me to become the Eye of the World. Without the unity of the three realms, there can be no true order, no true salvation.”

"That's insane logic," the woman in red said dismissively.

"It's a pity you don't need to understand, and you can't leave me," Badr said. "Even angels will serve me. Joan of Arc, so will you."

Upon hearing the name, the woman in red turned around, her earring—a triangular piece of gold metal—swaying gently. Joan of Arc took a slight breath, gave a disdainful snort, and showed no further emotion towards Badr's words.

"I have waited 500 years, and you are also looking forward to reuniting with that child, aren't you?" Badr said. "But do not forget that everything we have done is to prepare for the coming of the supreme creator (Jubilees), and the time for the creation of a new world is approaching."

He looked up to see the true source of the light—a surging mass of golden-red energy situated in a strange space, behind which thick, slowly moving clouds of orange and crimson hues mingled. Through the light, he could see that the energy enveloped a blurry, enormous humanoid figure, surrounded by countless white feathers that were gently drifting down.

Salomon returned to Kamar-Taj to report the entire affair to the Sorcerer Supreme. Before leaving, he specifically instructed Bayonetta to refrain from hunting angels recently, lest she fall into the Sage's trap; one angel would be enough to keep her demons quiet for a while.

But the witch only gave a perfunctory answer, seemingly not caring at all, which made Salomon somewhat worried.

When he told the Venerable Master the whole story, the Venerable Master showed no surprise. Salomon could not rule out the possibility that the Venerable Master was already used to such things, because in this universe, there are always crises that could destroy the earth, and the awakening of a "god" is not really that strange.

"I saw it, with the Eye of Agamotto," the Venerable said, "including the mistletoe in your dimensional bag."

Okay, Salomon admitted he was overthinking it. But… “Mistletoe?” he asked, “but that’s lipstick.”

"Mistletoe is just a metaphor. In Norse mythology, it was mistletoe that killed Baldr—weak and insignificant," the Venerable said calmly. "And that lipstick will also be the mistletoe that kills the Luminous sage Baldr. Perhaps because of the same name, fate has arranged the same circumstances. That lipstick was given to Bayonetta by Baldr's lover Rosa; it is the key to saving the sage Baldr."

"Rosa?"

"That's right, Bayonetta is the daughter of Baldr and Rosa. Rosa was the previous owner of the 'Left Eye,' and Baldr was the owner of the 'Right Eye.' It was their forbidden union that gave birth to Bayonetta, which led to the war between the witches and the sages." The Venerable took a book and placed it in front of Salomon. "It was the sages who, starting in 1480, instigated the Christian witch hunts. Because the witches had already won the war, the sages took advantage of their extreme exhaustion to incite fear of witches among the common people, leading to the depletion of the witch population. This blind witch hunt swept across Europe for over three hundred years, even continuing until the Salem witch trials."

"So, Bayonetta is a... Nephalem?"

"Genesis 6:4: 'In those days great men were on earth. Then the sons of God went to women of men and had children. These were the mighty and famous men of old.' There's also the information in the Book of Enoch about the illegitimate children of angels, about the giants who were imprisoned in the fifth of the seven and three heavens. Perhaps the most famous giant on earth was Goliath, killed by King David. The Great Flood was to eliminate the influence of the angels who had deserted their posts on the earth, and also to erase all traces of angels and their illegitimate children. These beings can all be called Nephalem. The Book of Raziel certainly records these things; you've certainly read it." The Venerable One gently tapped Salomon's head with her folding fan. She said, "I've said it several times, don't use frivolous terms to refer to mystical terms!"

Salomon, still intrigued, asked, "It's said that Enoch was taken on a tour of Heaven. Teacher, when you went to Heaven to sign the covenant, did you see Enoch?"

The Sorcerer replied, “It was not God who made the covenant with me, but Metatron, or Metatron. Perhaps that was the prophet Enoch, but no one can be sure, because I have never entered Heaven, nor have I ever seen God. At that time, the situation in Heaven was extremely abnormal. If Heaven had not closed its doors to visitors and ignored external affairs, I would not have been able to make the covenant so easily.”

"Abnormal?"

"I suspect... God is no longer in Heaven."

Just as Salomon was about to press further, the Supreme Master interrupted him. The Master said, “This is not something you should know. These are questions for you to explore in the future. You would be better off focusing on the issues at hand, not on heaven.”

"I'm not that impulsive." Salomon stuck out his tongue, but still obediently focused his attention on Lumen Sage Baldr and the soon-to-be-resurrected "Creator Jubilee".

"What if that god really awakens? But we can't keep using the Time Stone to loop things out." He asked, "Master, you told me about the dangers of manipulating time. I'm worried you'll pay a heavy price for manipulating that guy's time. And Dormammu…"

"Then go and stop it." The Venerable One was very pleased that Salomon was thinking of her, so she took a bottle of soda from Salomon's refrigerator as a "reward." The Venerable One said, "Your goal is to get Bayoneta to kill Baldr with this lipstick. And what you need to do is help her avoid the trap of Lumen Sage Baldr and prevent her from dying on the way. As long as she can reach the final battle, she can kill Baldr. At that time, the history of the witch and the sage race will be completely erased, and there will never again be anyone in the world who can summon extradimensional beings on a large scale."

"Teacher, do you mean... Bayonetta will die?" Salomon asked cautiously. To be honest, although Bayonetta was quite fond of teasing him and seeing his flustered state, Salomon still quite liked this witch. He said, "But there are still angels on Earth... Teacher, don't you think..."

"It's all up to you, Salomon," the Venerable said. "The lives of Bayonetta and Badr are entirely in your hands, not mine. Only your decision can affect their survival, and once you've made your decision, you must bear the consequences."

"as a result of……"

"Otherwise, who else do you think could keep an eye on Bayonetta? The guys who went before came back bruised and battered, but you didn't," the Sorcerer Supreme said, suppressing a laugh. "Only you can keep an eye on her."

"Okay..." Salomon couldn't help but glance to the side. This was too embarrassing; his little scheme had been seen through.

You'd better answer the phone.

"Telephone?"

Sure enough, Salomon's phone rang. He glanced at the screen and saw that the caller was Bayonetta. Salomon answered somewhat awkwardly, but before he could speak, a young girl's voice came through the phone.

"Mommy!"

"Um?!!!"
