Chapter 33 The First Battle with the Vampire
Chapter 33 The Second Battle with the Vampires (Seeking Investment!)
Salomon carefully observed the woman standing in front of him.
With his excellent eyesight, he saw that her eyes were slightly red, and her eyelids, with their dense veins, were a deep black, like congealed blood. Her hands, crossed in front of her lower abdomen, had sharp, black nails. Even the orange-red firelight could not stain her skin any other color, and her pale cheeks made her red lips appear even more vibrant.
The ghost floating behind her not only looked exactly like her, but also wore the same clothes.
Even without having met her, Salomon could roughly guess her identity; many of the stories Barnabas told mentioned her. This woman was Victoria, who was murdered by Angelique and then transformed into a vampire by Barnabas, and the ghost was undoubtedly Josette.
Even though both women were dead, their appearances remained unchanged—no wonder Barnabas never forgot Josette for two hundred years.
Victoria was looking at Salomon with an extremely cold gaze, a gaze filled with hatred and rage! Her anger towards the murderer, her suppressed hatred for the living, and her thirst for warm blood were all projected onto Salomon.
It only takes 4 seconds to drain his blood!
If Salomon weren't a sorcerer, such a gaze would have chilled him to the bone. No ordinary person would not be afraid in the face of a creature that could easily break human bones, especially one that drank blood.
Victoria's hatred was not without reason. Her heart was breaking when she saw Salomon punching Barnabas in the face again and again, and so was Josette beside her.
Therefore, after using the ability she had discovered to take Barnabas away, she appeared alone in front of Salomon.
She sought revenge, and so did Josette. Angelique Butchard, who cursed Barnabas to become a vampire, is dead!
This boy in front of me must die too!
No one can survive after harming a member of the Collins family!
Flames climbed up the woolen curtains to the ceiling, scorching the wooden ceiling, and the corridor was filled with the acrid smell of burning protein and the rich aroma of teak wood as it was slightly charred.
But Victoria showed no sign of panic, nor did she have any intention of talking. Instead, she knelt down and picked up Barnabas's cane that he had left on the ground.
She gripped the tip of the cane firmly, as if it were a short stick, pointing the brass head diagonally at the ground. Although she didn't want to speak, Salomon spoke up.
"I originally intended to kill him before coming to you," he said. "I would send him back to where he belonged, and your soul would slumber in eternal silence. But I've discovered that I have one more person to send away."
Salomon continued speaking without stopping his hands.
He took out a small piece of tanned leather and a small glass bottle containing silver powder, and cast a targeted protective spell on himself.
The mage's armor provides protection even when his muscles are sore, while the protection against good and evil is to deal with ghost possession and fear magic.
So far, all of Salomon's spells have been highly targeted.
With the added blessing of the Holy Mark, as long as he can hit vampires and ghosts, he can inflict enough damage on them. The magic wrapped around his fists comes from Vishanti, and its positive energy is like poison and acid to all undead.
But Victoria didn't want to talk to him at all.
Suddenly, she charged toward Salomon. Her long dress with whalebone crinoline did nothing to slow her down. The ghost behind her followed closely, baring its fangs and claws as it pounced on the arcane mage.
The vampires and ghosts moved extremely fast. If Salomon hadn't already mastered some of the Stigmata, he wouldn't have been able to see their movements at all, especially the constantly flickering ghosts.
This is a characteristic of ghosts; they can freely travel between the ethereal plane and the real plane, and anyone who is inexperienced is likely to be ambushed by a ghost.
Salomon nimbly dodged the ghost's seemingly harmless caress, only to be met by a swift swing of Victoria's cane. Salomon extended a hand, rapidly closing in and striking the brass cane head against the protective markings he had conjured out of thin air, producing the sound of shattering glass.
Then came another fierce blow, but it still couldn't break the mark's protection over Salomon.
Victoria was not giving up. She raised her cane high and tried to swing it down with all her might.
Salomon took a half-step forward with his left leg, narrowly dodging Josette's claw strike. He crossed his wrists in front of him, blocking Victoria's arm, then flipped his left hand, supporting the cold wrist with his thumb, and swiftly stepped forward with his right foot, bending his knee into a bow shape. His right arm bent, and with the momentum of his body, his elbow slammed into the vampire's chest from below.
"Bang—!" Their creaking footsteps were instantly drowned out by the explosion, and Victoria, like a cannonball, crashed into the wall at the end of the corridor outside the three rooms at a speed almost invisible to the naked eye.
She smashed through the wooden wall and crashed into the room; Salomon could even hear Victoria overturning the furniture.
Bajiquan, Heart-Piercing Elbow. This move not only allowed Salomon to block the powerful cane, but also knocked Victoria away, preventing the vampire's fangs from touching her. The brass cane also disappeared into the dark room along with Victoria.
Salomon wasn't worried that Victoria would be able to run out immediately. Even vampires have to follow ergonomics. Whether it's a spinal or rib injury, Victoria would definitely be unable to move for the time being.
Suddenly, an extremely terrifying face appeared in front of Salomon.
The face had skin clinging precariously to rotting muscle and crooked, missing teeth. Maggots wriggled beneath the skin, and half-rotten eyeballs bulged from their sockets, oozing yellow pus. Sparse, dark hair could not conceal the broken scalp and the blackened brain beneath.
There was even a worm that happily crawled out of the brain, raised its head and greeted Salomon.
But a surge of power from within forcefully soothed his fear. Salomon clenched his left fist, and layers of orange-red rings unfolded. He turned his body to the left and slammed the Ring of Raghadore into the ghost's face.
Before Salomon and the ghost could create distance again, the rapid footsteps of the rodents and the sound of bats flapping their wings at high speed rang out again from the other side of the corridor.
He stood still and chanted a spell. A gust of wind rushed to the other end of the corridor, blocking the rats and bats and blowing them to the ground.
While they were squeaking and chattering, Salomon suddenly jumped backward and crashed into the space behind him, which resembled a shattered mirror.
Josette rushed in after her, and then the shattered mirror disappeared down the corridor.
The fire gradually grew larger, and flames spread along the dry ceiling. The burning wooden ceiling collapsed to the ground, scattering a large number of red-hot sparks. Thick smoke seeped in through every crack and through the gaps between the windows, shooting up into the dark sky with specks of fire.
In the garden in front of Colin Manor, a circle of sparks appeared out of nowhere, and Salomon emerged from within it.
He left Josette in the Mirror Dimension, intending to deal with the ghost one last time. Now, all he had to do was find Barnabas and kill him; this vampire was his primary target.
The hunt will continue tonight.
